**UPDATE** The HP Spectre X360 15t running the Core i7-10750H does have two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The version running the U processor has one Thunderbolt 3 port.

Thanks for the clarification on this. I think since the Spectre is their premium machine they should have made both ports thunderbolt ports and not have done this. Isn't it amazing that when you go on HP's web site to select the HP 15t with the I7-10750H processor it indicates in the specs that it only has one thunderbolt port. I think HP needs to get their documentation better clarified so purchasers can know what they are actually buying. Too confusing.

The Envy x360 13 model with 8 core 4700u, 16GB ddr4 ram and 512gb nvme SSD was available in HP site @ $900 with their July coupon code. I would grab that over Spectre x360 anytime. Spectre may have slightly better build and display quality but the performance difference is immense. You can do a lot of basic 4k editing on Ryzen 7 4700u whereas quad core i7-1065G7, latest and greatest from Intel, normally chokes on those tasks.

99% of new ryzen laptops are better than intel since they get less hot, uses less battery and are faster

@@darktronics9901 very true its a risk that you need to be willing to take. I'm confident that they will do well because all of AMD's partnerships are on the line and they have one with samsung for their phone chips so they cannot screw it up

Can the envy x360 run after-effects? Or should I go with HP OMEN Ryzen 5 / 7? I'm more of a thin and light laptop person, but my workflow now includes blender and after-effects.

Regarding someone asking about the Pen support, HP uses Ntrig technology. So, any pen using that protocol, will work including Surface Pen. You can use dual protocol devices like Wacom Bamboo supporting both Ntrig and Wacom AES protocol.

Hey Andrew, great content, sad I missed the livestream but at least I watched it now in full. I'd ask for one small test. Could you play any 1080p60fps video in 1.5x speed with Chrome browser on both HP x360 notebooks and see if you're getting dropped frames or stuttering. I know that Ryzen tends to have issues with it and it's really irritating to me. Thanks and keep making these videos, I can't wait for the full review of Spectre 15!

can run in 2x speed on my 4700u envy (should be same on 4500u, uses same video decode chip). Can even run 4K60 at 1.25 speed but that nearly maxes out the video decoder.

The Cinebench tests should have been done with both being on AC power. The "Performance" profile isn't supported off AC power anyway (I get a popup message saying that).

Hi Andrew...are the unit's over at Costco the same as in the HP site? They have the Envy X360 Ryzen 7 4700U 8GB DDR4 512GB PCIe® for only $750. I've never bought one from Costco so just wanna be sure.

Hi Andrew, what do you think is more important? Processor performance/speed or wifi speed? The Envy 13 4500U has the better processor but only wifi 5, whereas the Spectre 13 i5 1035 has wifi 6. I literally have both on my desk at the moment -- love the AMD processor but am noticing the Spectre getting 5x better wifi speeds. The wifi is fine on the Envy during real world usage. Should I go with the Spectre because of the future proof-ability of wifi 6 (as well as the other bells and whistles of the Spectre)? Thanks in advance. Great channel!

No firsthand knowledge, but Austin Evans reviewed the 13 inch Ryzen 7 and mentioned how a lot of the performance is left on the table because of thermal issues.

I believe the HP laptops don't allow you to be on performance mode unless you are plugged in. I also think the spectre performed better on openhl Cinebench R15 probably due to being able to start from cold, intel tunes their cpu to have really high turbos, which allowed it to give a good run, however the 10nm vs 7nm difference in efficiency shows, when it comes around the cpu run I can imagine the spectre to be quite toasty and therefore got a dramatically lower svore.

I just bought my Envy x360 after watching your video on it! I currently have a Dell Inspiron 13 with an i3 processor and I was in desperate need of an upgrade lol. I was conflicted on which laptop to get (I'm very picky because I want the most for my money), but I waited, saw your video, and got the Envy! I'm very excited especially with school coming up.

HP Spectre X360 15 vs HP Envy X360 15 Thank you for your videos, I am no longer thinking about buying Dell XPS 15 but having seen HP Envy X360 15 with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. Makes me think if getting Spectre X360 15 with Intel Core i7-10750H and GTX 1650 Ti might be a big mistake as it seem pricier and bad for future proofing but I want a decent graphics card but even with HP Envy X360 15... I am scared of Intel as they seem to perform badly compared to AMD processors.

1650Ti is still a lot faster than the 4700U. But the 4700U allows for efficient gaming, I can play minecraft Windows 10 edition for 3-4hrs off a charge quite easily on my 13in laptop.. Or forza horizon 4 at 2hr. Eventually I will build a proper gaming desktop for better GPU performance.. I wish the envy allowed for eGPU but it does not

@@gv1141 gaming good, I realised I had antialiasing on minecraft turned in, turned it off can now get 4-5hrs gaming. Forza is better with some gpu driver updates. No hinge issues, only hardware issue I've had is rubber strips/feet coming off and not sticking back on.

I purchased the Spectre x360 i5, 256g for $850 at best buy last week. It must've been on special sale because now its on sale for $999. From list price $1249. Even at $999, I'd prefer the spectre because of the display. Its nice.

I missed the live stream! We need the envy 15, the x360 and especially the normal version. The normal version with the 2060 looks like a g14 with intel, 4k and touch screen and a webcam. I prefer the ryzen processor but I can't justify not having a webcam. Anybody knows of any ryzen laptop with a 2060 AND WEBCAM?

The Eluktronics RP15 and RP 17 both have a Ryzen 4800H 8 core processor and a rtx 2060. But the RP 15 has a “nose”cam while the RP17 has a camera on the top of the screen. They both cost $1,249.95. you can't use performance mode unless it's plugged in for the Spectre, I assume that is the same for the ENVY

I wish the ENVY had OLED 4k and thunderbolt , it would be my perfect choice. That AMD CPU ,just smashes the intel , you'd be a fool to choose the spectre over the envy. Save for two things , thunderbolt and AMOLED.

@@ankitaryan8671 only a common issue with all hp laptop, during charging if you use then fan run very fast, have some noise, and it heat up. Otherwise, rest of the things are fine.
