I've had two Envy laptops before - my current one is from 2017 and my previous one was from ~2013. One of my favorite features on both was the high quality audio that came out from the top of the laptop. This is literally the most important feature I am looking for - good speakers. I have a good desktop for gaming, I just want a nice screen and good speakers to watch movies and youtube videos.
If I may ask, how is the graphical performance? I'm considering getting a 2nd hand one with Nvidia mx150 dGPU, get something newer with either a iris XE 96EU iGPU or Vega 8 iGPU. I want a bit of punch (not too pretty nchy though) for 3D work.and I can't find a proper comparison anywhere.
Great review! I truly don't understand why so many of these supposedly "premium" laptops in this price range have a 250 nit 45% NTSC display. I've looked through Best Buy, Costco, and Microcenter and the vast majority of non-gaming laptops in the ~$1000 range have the same garbage display. It's incredibly irritating honestly.
@@jandeanglin8157 Yeah but as far as I know, most stores don't carry that display. They intentionally buy the cheapest model possible then resell it. Finding a good 15 inch display nowadays is a huge challenge. 14 is more manageable, but the 15 inch market's a shit show.
@@wholesome193 I'm from the UK and here the 400 nit one is pretty much everywhere and is below £600. With the specs and display it has, it is an absolute steal imo only bettered by Microsoft's Surface 8 pro which is also around £600 rn
Review was good, but you skipped the real part. You didn't go over the digital drawing aspect part. That would have helped your viewers a lot. If you do any 2 in 1 review, just remember to complete the digital art aspect of touch laptops. That is the soul of any 2 in 1.
Thnak you for the review. HP's laptops lack a CTRL key at the right side of the space bar and this is really a problem. Other brands like Dell, Acer or Asus provide the CTRL key. Also, having the power key (On/Off) mixed in the keyboard between the function key and the Delete key is a Turn off.
It's a good laptop, especially the Ryzen 7. However, I would advise against buying it. It has a recurring issue where the hinges become stiff and the screen pops out every 1 year, 6 months, or 2 years. You'll be left with the need to repair something that is completely unnecessary, with no warranty assistance. If possible, I recommend purchasing another laptop and having a Mac as a backup, as most of these laptops are not built to last. I apologize if you were excited about buying this laptop. I am currently using it and seeking help to fix an issue that is not my fault. Unfortunately, I find myself in this situation, but you have the opportunity to avoid this unnecessary problem.
Hey thanks for the info, im looking for a long lasting laptop (around 3 years or plus maybe) and perhaps im going to avoid buying this because on the internet some people also complained about the hinge.
I just want to mention that I bought the Envy 2022 back on July and is a little bit different from the model you're describing, the ports available are different and also came with face recognition instead of a fingerprint reader
bought one today. mine came with a USB Type C charger. very awesome and unexpected because most videos i found of this laptop were the proprietary charger design. didnt come with a stylus though
What about the hinge??? A lot of people complained about last year hp envy models there hinges were broken ?? What about 2022 model ?? Can you test the hinge quality?
Finally, I know that the grills on top of the keypad is not speakers that aggravate me so much. I wish it was speakers I have the i7 16 gig ram in the did not come a stylus out of the box and also is there I don’t have the finger print reader any thoughts? It is also 2022 and it cost $1099.
The problem for me in the look of envy x360 is the wider black on the screen below with the hp logo in it actually they put to section like a metal holding the hinge so that they can make the black wide will be less on the eye. Hp envy x360 2022.
I'm going into college next year for interior design so I've been looking into 2 in 1 laptops. I'm leaning towards an HP but having a hard time deciding between the Envy x360 and the Pavillion x360 both in the 14 inch version. Which would you recommend of those two??
I saw both of his reviews bcos I also was confused in both these models. I have decided to go for Envy 360 bcos of slightly better battery, high nits brightness, better thermals. My purpose of buying is to do pretty basic, word, excel youtube and notes taking stuff. So I think hp Envy should last me good 3 years atleast (given that I use it carefully bcoz of its hinges)
Hello, I need your help. Is this touchscreen laptop the best one in the market? I need a touchscreen laptop with a 15.6 inch screen that I can connect 3 or 4 external monitors, I’m a trader. I need the best one in the market, money is not a problem, hope you can help me, thanks in advance.
Great review!! I have the same model but intel i7 16gb ram...nobody seems to know if it's 250 nits brightness or 400? No finger print scanner. Hp say 250,the shop i bought it from say 400?
No problem! Certain regions do sell a higher end display with the i7/16gb model that does in fact have a 400 note display. However the one shown here and the majority of models come standard with the 250 nite display.
@@SoulOfTech thanks for your reply. I just ran a brightness test on it and it said 250 nits..my model is ew0503sa..hope there's someone out there who knows more about this model. Thanks for your help.
Hello, I bought this computer and I am not satisfied with the battery of the computer itself because "I feel" that it quickly discharges, I have an example at 11:35 I had 74% of battery after approximately an hour at 12:41 I had 49% and before they asked me the use I was giving it was a few simple searches on google. So i dont no what do about thia situation
FOR ALL PEOPLE This laptop is a complete scam. I bought it just to do 3D rendering and light work and I was completely disappointed since it broke after 6 months of use and now I have to use it with the charger because if it doesn't turn off, its battery won't The touch does not work either, apart from the terrible quality, do not buy HP, buy a lenovo thinkpad and it works perfectly, I do not recommend it at all
It's similar. Hopefully you haven't bought it yet, but the HP Envy has a lot of red flags. Do not disregard what SoulOfTech said about the display in this review. It's awful. In 2022, you should make sure that a laptop display has at least 300-nits of brightness. Unless Best Buy is selling one with the 400-nit, 100% sRGB screen, it's going to be just as awful as the display in this review. Also, a lot of HP Envy x360 owners over the past few years have been reporting that their hinges have been breaking during normal use, and if it's past HP's 1-year warranty, they refuse to fix it and blame it on "user error" even though it's a known issue that's been happening for years. Honestly, I'd recommend going for a different laptop, especially if you're paying this much money for one.
HP's Envy series is an actually high-end consumer laptop second only to the Spectre series. HP Pavilion is the mid range line up with the standard HP Laptop being the budget variant. You can learn more here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HP_Envy
I have this exact same laptop. Loved it for a while, but will absolutely freeze to the point of having to restart to fix when running Adobe/or even just too much at once. Battery life? AWFUL it’s nothing. It’s like 3 hours. And it now will not turn on. Waiting to see what that’s all about and if it can be fixed. Oh well. Thoughts on a better Windows running laptop under $1,000??
If this had black keys it would have been perfect. Also better colors for the display.. the FHD resolution I don't mind, just want more color coverage.
Thank you. HP displays are terrible. The only thing I like about their laptops is their wi-fi cards are about the only ones that actually work in my room. Can you please review the Huawei Matebook 14s i7?
Oh they sell better displays on their website if you're willing to pay extra. What HP does is they take laptops from their website, give them the cheapest part options, then ship them to stores to sell. So when you buy an HP laptop from a store, you're usually going to get an awful 250-nit, 45% NTSC display. But if you pay the extra $90 on HP's website, you can get the 400-nit, 100% sRGB display. But then you have to either pay an extra $200 to get an extended HP warranty (since their laptops are noted for not being durable whatsoever), or take the risk that the laptop won't break after just one year.
@@SoulOfTech is there a version of the envy that you like? Like the year it was made. I'm starting university and I really need a powerful sub $1000 laptop
A really good and fair review, and quite interesting to compare a new 2022 spec HP Envy x360 15.6” with my 5 year old 15 series. Obviously getting a far better-gen processor with the new model should be a given. But disappointments in this new model for me (which were covered in the review) include pretty much the same screen resolution as my 5 year old laptop, the lack of the extra set of numerical keys on the right side of the keyboard (which are handy), the amount of flex in the casing on and around the touchpad (my laptop has virtually zero), and only the slightest amount of weight difference (compared to what I have now). Also, at c.$1,100 it's nearly 3x what I paid for my current laptop (admittedly I got an especially good price for it and benefited from an extremely favourable swing in foreign currency values at the time too. But for that money, for over $1,000 I'd expect a much better specification and a huge improvement over what I'm using now (which, after 5 years of daily use and abuse, still looks and works as new!) - I don't feel it offers either. When the time comes I'll almost certainly buy another HP laptop but would hope (for similar money to the one tested here) to get a model with a far better screen display, and better webcam (just for starters) to the model reviewed in this video.
