Thanks for making this video, I just got one of these (slightly different model I think but same thing) - have used it in the past at a previous office type job, and they had some issues with one of the toner drums, but once they were able to get it cleaned it worked fine after that. I'm amazed at the textual reviews I've seen for this printer, most of which are basically "works great, does the job, does it fast, good quality." but there's a handful that are people complaining that they couldn't figure out how to set it up... I don't understand what issues someone would run into. You literally turned it on, and immediately made a photocopy, and then connected it to wifi and immediately printed some stuff. Some of those reviews make it sound like it's rocket science and they had to hire people to help them figure out how to get the printer to update its firmware... Some people, man.

Thanks, nice review. The difference between HP CDW and FDW: Both models fax, scan, copy, and print. Function and features are the same. The true difference is where the printers can be purchased from, with FDW being available direct from HP and CDW coming from club stores, such as Costco.

Wow! Awesome real video! Costco is selling it today (Tues 04/25/2023) for $489.78 (not including state sales tax). Amazing how the same techology increases in price exponential! There's also a M283fdw model. I'll have to see what's the difference other than "c" comes before "f" in the alphabet. Kudos on the video!

The color on the copied pages didn’t match because the original used a Pantone color that’s outside of the CMYK gamut.

On the costco review 2023 - 178 gave it 1 star. I have a black version of this in my office. So far everything looks great in this 2 year review. Gonna hit that buy button for costco.

@jason - Great video. Now that you've had this for a few months... how is it working for you? The color off of the sample copy you made is a bit alarming... but how are you liking this overall?

I have a question about this printer. Can you print labels or other smaller things with this printer? I saw that it has two paper trays but which sizes does the second paper tray support?

Thanks for video, I have a question, at your 5:28 point of video when you push the toner cartridges back in do the left silver clip hold the tray in? I have a problem with my tray I think. The right side clip connects the tray but the left clip isn't. Therefore the machine sounds clunky. I did hear you say it was loud and I agree. My printer also has a weird smell, like a burning smell? Did you notice this problem? Thinking about returning to Costco.

Hello, My M283cdw seems to be much slower than when I purchased it two years ago. Any suggestions for speeding it up.. or resetting to factory settings in hopes of "clearing" whatever the problem may be? A multipage doc (4-10 pages) double sided takes about 5 minutes. These are not color intensive or picture laden pages.. just documents.

For me when printing photo's on it, it seems a bit more on the blue-ish/cold side, is there a way to print photo's a bit warmer in color?

have you found a source (or multiple sources) to purchase replacement toner?

I want to use this in my home office. Where does a Number 10 envelope go into and come out of this printer? The reason I ask is that I intend on placing it in a corner with the back being diagonal to a corner of the room.

Hi, do you know the difference between cdw & fdw? I know M283fdw has got fax, which I don't need and it's about 500$ here in Italy... 😓

I have had this for about 1.5 years and frustrated by stability. It crashes all the time. Requires multiple restarts. Prints fine and like the fact it has a much larger paper tray than my old one, but annoyingly unstable.

Specs say it has two paper trays? I only see one? Thanks for the review!

I just unboxed my printer and have used it successfully. However, the printer turns off in a short time of unuse. I can’t seem to find a setting I am to make the power switch stay on until I turn it off. Do you have any clues about this?

I've returned three new HP printers to the shop, because all the prints were skewed!, I have a Canon I-Sensys MF744Cdw, now and it is a wonderful powerhouse! full of great functions too...Never ever a HP printer for me! All prints are spot on, and even borderless printing!

what does cdw mean? and what is the difference between cdw and mpf?

Has anyone had issues with this printer brand new make what i would consider a high pitched noise when in action. like a beeeeeeeeep.

Only a mug would use an inkjet printer for a home office as inkjet prints naturally run when wet; inkjet is just not a sound and professional choice. And, no, the full and proper HP install process is *not* just 15 minutes from unboxing to completing the task. The latest HP software suite needs to be downloaded and installed for extract the full features from the device, especially scanning. And, to maintain it efficiently with firmware updates. One would need at least perhaps 30 minutes to properly install the HP device.

I am buying that printer today at Costco as well but it’s $399😂
