I thought this would be a quick video, but it's a little longer than expected. Here is how I load media on the HP Latex wide format printer. I love this machine and you guys asked for more videos on it. If you want something specific, let me know.

Hello print fans…. I do have a question 🙋🏾‍♂️.. I have the same printer ….. when I start printing do you place the Edgar holders back in place? ….. I have so many questions re: the menu screen keeping track of the length …. Can’t wait to get to the shop to load my banner media … this video helps a lot … because I’m a newbie to this machine ….

Hey! Having trouble on how to laminate our printed media correctly. Been 2000+ jobs but we always do it two people. Just bought a new laminator because I thought it would make it easier, but its still a pain. Not sure what I’m doing wrong. It would be helpful if you made a how to laminate video with your techniques 😁

Hi Daron, you may remember i have the l360 64" and i mainly print on paper, the problem was i previously had the dj5500 and that spindle was the 2" and the supplier i used was great and reasonably priced, however the L360 has the 3" spindle and paper was extremely expensive and basically cut my profits right out, i had to shell out £280 sterling for the 2" spindle so i could go back to my original supplier for the 2" core paper, things are good again plus i got an extra 3" spindle (not including the TUR)

I'm limited to room also so I use a keyboard stand in front of my printer which I attached pool noodles to rest the media on while I put the reel in the core.. dumb but works so you don't have to hold the weight ;)

I got the 335, so it’s 63” rolls. Not all, but I have a roll of scrim that’s 63”. That damn thing was like 70lbs. When the roll was new. Had to load it myself too. Back was killing me.

Quick tip on the length tracking -- instead of taking notes on a notepad, I keep a Sharpie at the printer, and mark the length on the leading edge of the media when I unload. The leading edge is wasted anyway, so it doesn't matter that you're writing on it.

Can you use vinyl from other brands or only 3M? Can the drying temperature be calibrated?

Do you have a video that continues this process to include how you use the take-up reel? Especially important with longer jobs like this banner you're printing. Thanks.

Hi, also i have static build up of ink on my printheads which smears on my prints, i have cleaned the printheads but still get smears, can you do a video on how to clean the printhead carriage to eliminate this (maybe an engineer callout) but any advice appreciated.
@DonaldIversonII
@DonaldIversonII 2 года назад
I was looking at the 115, but someone warned me that if I don't print a bunch of projects per day, then when it self cleans the print heads each time it shuts down I'll be using 2x the ink and it won't be profitable. Can you speak to the waste ink amount and costs when cleaning the print heads? And does the cleaning happen daily? Upon start up/shut down?
@ttms
@ttms 2 года назад
Waste is very minimal on the HP Latex machines. I don't think I changed ink out for the first year I had the thing. Longest I went was a month. It's one of the best machines for getting started.

do you use the the printer to cut the banner material or something else ? thanks
@ttms
@ttms 2 года назад
The media cutter in the HP is not strong enough to cut banner. I just feed it out and cut it with scissors. From there, I either cut it with my straight cutter or I put it on my flatbed cutter to trim it to size.

A good example of "I know it, everybody knows it". A good example where a certain knowledge is possed leads to a selectual exchange. I'm not blaming TTMS in any way, people who have performed a certain action, unwillingly presume a certain way of explaining. It is a given for some, and a need to explain for others. Broad, not all includise example, a machanic shows you a clutch wheel to be replaced. You look at it and without a referrence you believe in it or the need to chenge it. Upon typing this, I realised US can barely relate. Anyhow, the main idea is that instead you know it is wrong, you display "this is bad" and "this is good". In then case of media loading, there must be present exceptions, size regulations etc that were not announced. So, I'll give this a 3.7/5 {undecided measure of scale}.

Whenever I load wrap media - specifically 3m IJ180, the vinyl layer tends to peel back a little on entry, and the adhesive grabs the top roller, causing a wrinkle and therefore a jam. This happens perhaps 90% of the time. Is there anything I can do to lower this terrible ratio? I never get jams with my Roland, its so much easier to load...(and you dont waste the first couple of feet.)
@ttms

Try manually loading it instead of using the auto load feature.
