Hi!
No music. No talking. Just work.
If you are taking your HP PAVILION DV6-6117DX laptop apart be careful and wear an anti-static wrist band or use other anti-static device. If you need to change a LCD usually you don't have to take screen out of a laptop. You can leave it on a laptop and watch the last part of the video where I am taking LCD apart. If you need to change a keyboard, you don't have to take all bottom screws out. There are usually some marks, like a keyboard picture, on a case bottom. If you need to put a laptop back to work be aware of screws. They are different and you better remember or mark them somehow to insure that you will put them back in to a right place.
Some laptops I take apart first time, so don't be serious on my time and performance.
If something got broken - ooops, it's your fault.
Believe me, some parts in your laptop are already broken, you just don't see that.
So, just watch this video and fix your laptop.
Have fun and good luck!!

Hi, you are the type of viewer that I am targeting my videos for. People who are able figure out everything!! You understand what you need to remove and what not. For people like you - my videos can help to replace pretty much everything in a laptop :))) Great job!

I dropped my DV6 6053ea and need to replace the laptop casing with a new one. I can see from your video how to remove all the screws & strip the laptop apart. I'm getting the replacement parts soon so I can do it myself. thanks for the video,

Thanks for the video. It helped me. I have to teach you something. In minute 1:03 you have to slide de "battery button" (to extract battery) to the right side, and then the cover go out by itself. !!

Thanks my fan went out & this video helped, it is exactly the same as my laptop. There were parts I did not need to remove so I got it done quicker, about 2 hours. If you have a fan go out, you may be interested to know I got one from ii battery dot com. Took paypal so I figured I could go back and reverse if nothing came, but it did. I didn't have to mess with the part attached to the cpu chip, it was just the fan itself. Pulled motherboard, turned over and removed 4 screws on fan housing.

Cheers for this, I managed to get the cooler off and blast it with some air and re-apply some thermal paste to the GPU and CPU. I'm amazed I managed to get it back together and it actually still works (now running 20-30C cooler too),

Yeah, I just got a little bit more time to answer. If you check to pics. One dv6-6000 motherboard and another one dv6-1000 motherboard it will be a huge difference. So, I will not check for -2000 -3000 but if they look similar and compatible you will be able to find that somewhere on internet.

Hi, as you may noticed, this video about how to take a laptop apart. Would you take LCD out to change RAM? No. On the other hand anybody who need to remove LCD will watch. Open this little door where RAM is located and remove it...

This video is about how to take a whole laptop apart. Of course by looking it you may find your way to a fan or just lcd, etc. This laptop, if you remove only a keyboard - there will be no access to a fan. You will need to remove a palmrest, but this mean you have to follow pretty much everything I did prior to palmrest removal.

To be honest, pretty much all non gaming laptops are not suitable for heavy gaming... so they can be hot and depend on the game and settings FPS will be lower and lower. Anyway, if you are sure the dirty fan is the main problem, to clean it will be a good idea.

Thanks.. awesome vid. I ended up replacing just the fan. (accidentally ordered just the fan) I have a question, now, when the ambient is 28C, with the new fan, the core temperature hovers around 50C. This is with standard fan settings. 1. Is this normal/safe? 2. Is it worth the noise to put the fan on high? 3. Any reduced fan life from keeping it on high? I think replacing the whole unit would've been better. cos there was some impossible to remove gunk in the sink blades.

You shouldn't need to use a knife for the bottom hatch. Just flip the battery switch the other way once the battery is out and it'll pop open. (that's the idea anyway)

At 10:24 , is the GPU (not intel chip's one) supposed to be the big brown-like chip under that circle battery? Or the big blue chip on that circle battery's right side?

No need to fix a laptop, if you are scared and not sure. If you are feel unsafe to do that - I would definitely recommend to ask a professional who can fix it for you. Yes, for some money, but at least you don't need to worry about that. Just make some research first, ask friends about tech's they know.

I went to the hp site and couldn't really find anything on this model.

Thanks very much for replying.. I think I jumped the gun with the values. It hovers around 60C when I'm not working the cpu too hard, and easily crosses 75C when I game. This is after the new fan. When the GPU's turned off at idle it does come down to around 50-55 though. Is this normal? Cos I got the fan from some chinese site, althoght the fan code was correct.

I have a problem with my 6117dx. I doesn't turn on for a few times, then when it finally turns on everything is fine the windows starting boot screen appears but then when the desktop is loading, the screen goes black and the touch pad LED dessapears... Then I try to plug an external monitor and I can see my desktop, it works fine. But the touchpad and keyboard does not respond at all. I also have to plug and external keyboard and Mouse to use the notebook. Then if I shut the notebook down and try to turn it on again nothing happens.. Then a few times trying to turn it itstarts but with the same issue as before. Any ideas of what it this?? Any solution?? Thanks in advance
@regazzz
@regazzz 10 лет назад
Try to start in Safe Mode. But with a keyboard and touchpad ... pretty weird. Was laptop dropped at some point? Make sure keyboard and touchpad are connected to a motherboard. You may also tryout a different keyboard. Overall with all this issues altogether it sounds like a bad motherboard. But I would test it in different way first.
@eacmdq

Connect to a external screen, start a laptop and check how does it looks on external screen. If everything looks fine - means your screen is bad. More likely. If same as on your laptop screen - than it is a video issue on your motherboard.
