Great video, thank you! Is it possible to just buy a 2GB RAM memory and add it to the 1GB RAM the computer has? (Ending up with 3GB RAM total) Or I am obliged to remove the previous 1GB RAM?

@@uFixTek Great of course! I ended up buying two memories of 2GB each cause when I opened the slot there were two memories of 500MB. Let's see what happens, hope it works. PD: I am also planning to replace the hard drive with an SSD.

nice video which it helps for upgrading the gift from my dad 16 years ago. any link for purchasing the RAMs? and i am not sure whether mine is DV6000 with the exact same looking laptop. Is it fine for upgrading it to 2x4GB DDR if i am not sure mine is DV6000 or DV6xxx?

Your videos are abstract and helpful. I too want to upgrade my HP DV6000 with higher memory, 64 bit Windows 8 or higher and replace my hdd with Ssd. Presently i having 32 bit Windows Vista, 2 gb RAM. Also the HP website says that my laptop supports only 2 gb maximum RAM. Kindly guide me regarding the desired upgrade!

i think you have installed a 32bit version of windows. you will need a 64bit windows. 32bit windows goes max 3GB ram.

I dont know if you are still monitoring this video, but I am fixing my old dv6000 which currently has 4gb of RAM. I read that this is max amount of RAM it can take. Is that correct? Id like to take it to 8gb if possible. It has an AMD Turion X2 Proc. Thanks!

Thanks ✌ for the feedback! if you wish to support the channel you can LIKE or SUB or both :P regarding your question: this laptop works with 18.5V or 19v and minimum Amp required is 3.5Amp, but if you can get a charger that is 18.5-19.0v and amper over 3.5amp you fine. BUT the higher the amper the better, but the voltage MUST be in the range indicated else it will damage the laptop. the higher amper it means if the laptop needs more amp to work the charger will be able to deliver the extra amper. but if you get the 3.5amp it will work but if the laptop its running low on battery and you want to use it at the same time the 3.5amp wont be enough and the charger will get really hot and it will over time burn down because of the stress, but on other hand if you get a charger over 3.5amp it will be able to charge and run at the same time without any stress. here is the right charger: amzn.to/2XlZMet

о, тогда у вас более низкий процессор, а моделей dv600 мало, вы не можете изменить процессор, потому что более высокий процессор требует радиатора другого размера. но вы можете обновить до 4 ГБ минимум 100% 2x 2 ГБ

noo its not a 32bit cpu its 64bit cpu you just need to install a 64bit windows.

I got a new used dv6000 series laptop and when i tried to upgrade to windows 64 bit it gives an error and says the cpu is not campatable????, is it because the bios hasnt been flashed or does that have anything to do with it? We all know teh cpu can update to 64 bit so i dont understand why it giving me the error

@@uFixTek The computer came with windows vista, i tried to install windows 7 64 bit and it gave me the error and said the cpu wasnt campaitable with 64 bit, i then put in windows 7 32 bit fresh install and it worked but when i try again to put in windows 64 bit it gives an error that says the cpu is not compatible with 64 bit. Ps. Yes fresh install from usb

@@redscorpion133 what speed ram you purchased, your problem is not the BIOS, its the ram you purchased, you need to make sure its a sodimm SDRAM DDR2 667. if you get anything higher it will not work. amzn.to/3SKb5nu

@@uFixTek In my case. I,ve got two 2gb sticks hynix 667mhz each and even though my bios detects the ram, widnows keeps restarting when it's starting againg a again, no matther what i do. And the rams works because if i only usd 2gb the computer starts, so i don't know whats going on.

Currently running Windows 10 32Bit and it is giving me issues often it shows the windows blue screen: ":) your device ran into problem and needs to restart. Hello Sir, I did a fresh new installation of Windows 10 - 32 Bits, and when checking with your method the maximum memory is 2 GB in 2 slots. Even tough it has 3 GB physically installed (1 x 1 GB and 1 x 2 GB) Do you recommend me to try with Windows 10 - 64 Bits, and perhaps it will be possible that the memory capacity be increased to 8 GB? yes i do recommend you to go 64bit, remember that 32bit can only handle 4GB ram. so you have no other choice. go 64bit and see what happens and 64bit is much better than 32bit.
