HP Pavilion Slimline S3000 series RAM Installation.
In this video I will show you how to disassemble this HP Pavilion Slimline PC in order to gain access to the memory slots underneath the DVD Drive. I then show you how to insert new RAM into the slots in order to enhance the performance of the machine. Finally, I explain how to re-assemble it.
Please note, only the 64Bit version of this computer can be upgraded to 4GB, the 32Bit has a maximum of 2GB.
I hope you enjoy the video, and that it helps you out in some way.
Best Regards - Neil.

Hey Zedrick, Yes that's me, I just decided I wanted to do a bit something different and put it out there, glad you enjoyed. Yep, I've just read all about your doing battle with the stairs!! I responded on that particular threat. Take care, Neil.

Hey Lacey, I’m super pleased to hear this! The RAM probably just needed re-seating, as well as a bit of a dust round. Brilliant! Very pleased for you. You might want to consider installing Windows 10, this can be downloaded from the Microsoft website free of charge but it won’t be licensed. This just means you won’t be able to personalise it like put your own picture on or change the colours that sort of thing. However, it is possible to purchase off eBay a license from a computer which has been scrapped for a few pounds. This is something I’ve done before myself and I’m still using them now. Good luck and thank you for commenting and letting me know how you got on. Best to you-Neil.

That was a change, Neil! Great video. I still have my Compaq 5335ea (2001) PC and monitor. Can still use for printing, listening to radio.

Hi Dean, I remember the old Compaq’s wow! I’ve actually got my old 16 bit Commodore Amiga in the loft somewhere.

I have one I picked up at the dump, missing the hard drive and the cd drive. The video was helpful and easy to understand. Thank you. I put the ram in but still need a hard drive and I have a cd/dvd drive which I will install after I find a proper hard drive.

Hey there, I was super pleased to hear this comment especially as this video is getting on a bit now. I'm so happy that my video was able to help you in some way, I seem to recall getting to the ram was a bit tricky which is why I made it. Good luck with your build, and remember it's possible to download and install windows 10 without actually activating it. A few times I've purchased an activation key for just a few UK pounds off ebay. They are for sale from PC's which have been scrapped and perfectly usable. Good luck - Neil.

Any other upgrades you’d recommend for the pavilion, I have a tiny bit of spare money and I’m looking to optimize my computer

V - NÜX Hey there and thanks for the comment. This is a fairly old computer now, and I found the best way to give it a little performance boost was to extend the memory. It wasn’t too expensive either, so that was good. I can’t really think of anything else apart from you might want to consider putting windows 10 on it. This can be downloaded from Microsoft’s web site and installed even without a licence. You can then purchase a licence off eBay for very little money, these licences are from old disposed of computers so they are legitimate. I’ve done this several times successfully. Good luck.

I’m having a beep code 1short beep 1 long beep when I looked up the code it says memory issue. So I’m trying to make sure I buy the right memory ram upgrade. How can I tell what size memory I have? So that i know what to upgrade to?
@NeilBradleyMS

Hi Jada, if you can take out a strip of memory and there should be a label on it. This small label should contain all the information about the type of memory it is and it’s size, speed etc. You need to try and get and exact match if you can. It’s possible depending on the age of your computer, it could be a bit pricy, hopefully not though. I hope that helps. Good luck.

Would HP Pavilion Slimline 4000 RAM Installation look the same?
@NeilBradleyMS
@NeilBradleyMS 6 лет назад
Hi There, I would imagine because the PC's are so very similar the memory would be identical. However, where memory is concerned I've learned its best not to assume. If you remove the memory from your PC, on it should be its specification. I would recommend buying a quality memory if you can from HP themselves, or someone like Kingston. In actual fact the memory I brought for the PC in this video didn't work! But that was a lesson learned for me, because I purchased it from a cheap company through Ebay. One further point, its useful to know if your PC is Intel based of AMD because the memory will be different. Good luck, and I hope that helps - Neil.

Neil haven,t talked to you in awhile. How are you and your and Molly doing? I hope well and you are still coping with MS. I go along with the symptoms and not much one can do but cope. You are technical so a question. i bought a Dell laptop and i had it 4 months. everything worked fine. But after using it one night i plugged in to charge it. next day i unplugged it and it wouldn't turn on. Did everything. Changed plug outlets. booted it. booted my router to changed WIFI. Nothing. I read on line from a lot of people that they had similar problems and it turned out to be mother board. Well I haven't checked yet but if it is going to cost a lot especially more than laptop is worth , off I go to buy another.You have any tech expertise to this problem? Talk later Neil.

Hi Bode, yes it's been a little while hasn't it.. but hey I'm still here albeit haven't made a video for quite some time now. Struggling with time to be honest. All good this end thanks, Molly is also doing very well considering her ancient age. I hope things are good with you also Bode, and yes I know what you mean about just going along with the symptoms, as you say that's all we can do isn't it. Sounds to me like the Laptop is definitely faulty after only four months. I would probably disconnect the battery, then re connect. Plug in power supply and switch laptop on. It should come on without delay. Failing that, why not contact Dell Support, they will definitely be able to tell you if it's died. They will also be able to advise you on a replacement, and what to do. In theory you should not have to purchase another one as it's not even a year old, it will have a one year guarantee for sure. Good luck, and great to hear from you. Neil.

Yeahh.. we're all good thanks Kevin, my wife is in her element as she absolutely loves Christmas and consequently is doing all the preparation :) I'm leaving her to it lol .. I like Christmas, but I don't share the same enthusiasm she does. What about you guys, have you done any Christmas shopping? It won't be long before you've got three very excited young ladies on your hands, if you haven't already. Cheers.

Hey there.. oh really, that’s interesting to know thanks. This video is getting on a bit now, so I can’t remember how much RAM I put into it. I seem to recall because it was a slimline PC, actually gaining access to the slots was a bit tricky which is why I did the video. Are you currently upgrading something similar then?
