From our December 3rd live webcast our own Tray Bourgoyne and wife Lisa have been working hard on an in depth review of the just released new trike from HP Velotechnik known as the Delta Tx. You'll see it on the trail, on the road and in Tray's workshop. He details all the features and specs to let us know why this e-assisted trike might be best suited for you.

Kinda like VanRaam's Easy Rider trike, but I don't think theirs disassembles quite as small as this HP. The VanRaam does go in reverse when you pedal backward though!

I wish they added a two wheel version to this. it'd be the perfect recumbent for city traffic. higher than the other two wheelers so you'd be face to face with drivers, but still thin and nimble enough to slip through the waiting cards at a red light and still super comfy and laid back.

So it just drives one of the rear wheels? Could you put a "Differential" on it? Could you attach a Burley Nomad trailer to it? I am looking for a three wheeled Delta Recumbent for winter time riding. I do not like how low Tadpole trikes sit.

HP didn’t want the complexity of a rear diff so they use what they call Freewheelin Twin. The result is that both wheels pull when riding straight ahead but only the inside wheel pulls when cornering. Very similar to what I would call limited slip diff. HP sells a trailer hitch for the Delta so hook up and head out! I like the height of the seat on the trike and the stepthru height. Very easy to get on and off. It should make a good trike for winter. Big tires and fenders. When/if they develop a windscreen that would make it even better!

Excellent review. Does the LED screen record trip distance without disappearing when stopped for a break. Thus allowing to zero down when you wish.

I took a test ride of it today in Wisconsin. There is a significant design problem. I am 5 ft 5 in and when I sit in a properly adjusted seat, my view is interrupted by all the cables going to the handlebar. Who the heck wants to look through that when they are riding? The cables actually arc up 3" or so above the highest point of the handlebars, obscuring your view

Hi Cheryl, at the moment we are offering two different stems, a long one as standard which can be shortened and a dedicated short one. With the short one body heights even below 5'2'' (current official indication) showed to work fine and we can probably even lower the current indication. Your dealer probably has the standard stem and if he didn't shorten it, I don't doubt that it was way too long and disturbing the view. I guess you've been to Hostel Shoppe. Maybe we can find a solution to arrange a test ride with a shorter or at least shortened stem. In any case our US rep Mathieu will be attending the "Pedal Point Rally" there (July 19th & July 20th, 2024) and he will definitely bring a Delta tx with short stem.

@@heikotruppel1646 thank you for this comment. I had been very interested in this bike because it was the closest alternative to the Huka Cortes that I could find. (A Belgian brand that checks the boxes on many disability needs). I did very much enjoy the ride, and your version of this bike is much more clever for transport.

Bummer that it doesn't have a tilting rear end.

Hi Pierre. Are you referring to the fact that this is the first time HP Velotechnik has sold a delta trike?

@@pierremiyamoto4490 ha! Now I'm feeling badly about not having set up a prize for such achievements😉 Thanks for those very kind words about my vids. Are you riding a recumbent there in Japan?

@@GarySolomon I am! I have two velomobiles, an Alpha 7 and a Snoek, if you search you tube for 'Tokyo velomobile' it is the first two results, my friend visited me here in Tokyo and we rode them both around.

It seems the seat height looks way to high so cornering at even a modest speed would be interesting! Think they missed the boat by not offering a rear tilting mechanism to combat this. Be interested in seeing a owner review over a long period on trailsand uneven roads

I did hear you right about the price? That is outrageously over priced. I wont be getting that one.

Actually they are in line with pricing for a a high quality Etrike from all the other manufactures.

I only have one worry: where are the components, such as batteries of all these e-bikes invading the markets, made? Warning: do not buy Made In China. Battery cells (not the complete battery) as well as lot of cheap plastic electronics usually Chinese.
