I got the this for my second school computer. My Mac won’t let me do certain programs required for school. My work laptop is a HP and it’s proven to me HP is an all around great brand. For school/browsing/traveling this is a great laptop. The price is obviously amazing. Haven’t tried gaming on it but I wouldn’t think it was made to support that.
if you are trying to play the sims 4, this laptop will also double as a heating pad. :) my personal experience with this laptop hasn't been as great but she's dependable.
Probably because you might be using it on ur lap or a surface that absorbs heat. Don’t do that. Try using a book or something to put it on. My gets warm after a min if I don’t have a hard surface under it.
I bought one yesterday! I’ve cried several times today because I can’t get it to work. It’s going through its own diagnostics now. I’m a senior citizen and I have always used my desktop or my iPhone so I thought surely I could handle a laptop but I had it open for approximately 13 minutes and it froze TWICE!!! Maybe I’m too old? I wish my grandkids weren’t so busy. They could probably get it working. Enjoyed your video.
I purchased one used for $50 in 2013. I still use it today, choosing it 9 out of 10 times when I need to travel or do some light work at home. Some of the best money ive spent! I had no idea they still made them!
I got this same laptop for my first computer back in December of 2021. At the time, I was 42 years old when I got it. I'm 44 now I know being my age and just now getting my first computer is crazy but, I'm not tech savvy like my son, and he is the one who found this for me. That and I would I had been going to my local library almost every day since 2006 and using their free computers and internet.
I got this for Christmas and other than not having a backlight I love it. Its lightweight and the touchscreen is fluid with using the keyboard simultaneously.
@@syeda2227 Hi Syeda. I got it it's been great so far. It works well. The only drawback is that I want to use Google chrome and other Google apps but l am afraid to take it out of s-mode. My daughter got the same model too and tried. Her laptop started malfunctioning. She had to keep signing in everytime she went on it. It has settled down now though. I love the floating keyboard for nighttime use or when in dark environments. It makes having a backlit keyboard unnecessary. The sound quality is good and the speed is okay for me. The size is perfect and the design compact. It's very lightweight so easy to carry around. Picture quality is great too. I think it's worth every penny.
I was look for a a new laptop for myself to do my online business. I have been looking at many laptops in the past and this one is a good laptop to use. I can’t wait to buy it 😊
If you get tired of using Windows 10S on your HP Stream 14 and you're well-versed in Linux distros, Debian XFCE handles extremely well on it. Frees up a lot of storage space, comes with Libre Office installed, and streaming is very smooth.
Hello how is it dose it still work good would you recommend me getting one from Walmart it does have some bad reviews most of them from the storage but I'm just going to used it for drawing and watching Netflix and hulu- and RU-vid
Works great after a fresh install of windows and removal of the dreaded 'S mode'. Ram is doable, though the CPU tends to max out if you're running a lot of programs. Good enough for school purposes. Wouldn't recommend for gaming. Get an SD card if you can if you want to store extra stuff on it. 64GB is kinda small. Definitely not enough for media.
@@erikalopez8135 It's a watered down version of windows that doesn't allow for any applications to be installed besides windows apps. It's kind of like a Chromebook.
Nice review! The screen is pretty decent as you say. I also use an external monitor & the 'f4' monitor select key works extremely well to choose what monitor you want to use. Playing videos from RU-vid has been flawless & VLC has played every HD video I have tried. Another excellent feature is the fanless & silent design. Cleaning out dust from any computer is a miserable experience & with a laptop it is even worse.
I still have my HP Stream (13-c002dx) from 2015! Not a powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination, buy it did what I needed it to do without much problems. Just bought the MBA M1 to finally replace it. ;)
These little laptops are great linux computers I installed Ubuntucinnamon 20.04 on one am going to be installing 22.04 as soon as it rolls out pulled it apart installed 8gb of ram great little machine for what it is
@@sofiane7648linux is an operating system like windows or mac. there are many different "distros" of linux like mint, ubuntu, fedora, and on and on. for most people coming over from windows its recommended to use linux mint or zorin. on a lowend laptop like this i recommend xfce versions of Linux mint and zorin as xfce is the most lightweight while still being modern. there are lots of RU-vid videos of people installing xfce linux on old laptops and bringing new life into them as they ran very slow with Windows
I just bought this and promptly forgot my password and the security questions don't work. I am thinking I mistyped the answer to a security question the first time I opened the computer. What can I do?
Did you add a graphics card or something? My picture quality is absolutely horrible. If you turn your head even the slightest half the screen is black and cloudy.
I’m using mine for personal documenting and light streaming if at a coffee shop, etc. does anyone recommend a portable dvd player plug in to use ? Looking to get one
Hey there! Thanks for the thorough review of the HP Stream 14. It's great to see a detailed breakdown of its specs and performance. I'm particularly interested in the battery life, and your real-world testing gives me a better idea of what to expect. You mentioned that it comes with Microsoft 365 for free for a year, which is a nice bonus, especially for students. Could you please provide more information on the overall build quality and durability of the laptop? How's the keyboard for typing longer documents? Thanks for sharing your insights!
Hi, I just received this lap top as a gift for Christmas and my video quality it extremely poor. You can't even tilt your head the slightest and half the screen looks dark and blurred. Is there something I'm missing? Maybe a setting or something?
hello was just wondering if i could run emulated pokemon games on here? i have a chromebook and a lot of games cant be downloaded because its a web based computer and not windows. I need to be able to download a lot of stuff that i cant on a chromebook. any tips?
Fro mwhat I know, it's not much faster than a crappy chromebook. if your in the 200 dollar price range HP Elitebook 840 G5 to G7 are solid along with Lenovo T480 - 90
I'm having the same problem. I'm trying to figure out if it's the laptop or something I need to change in settings. I'm ready to return mine if I can't get any help.
@@sophiA-uj4cq if you purchased the HP stream 14-cb174wm with windows 10 it comes with thr upgrade free.. go to your setting-->updates and it'll tell you if your HP is qualified
How do you get it to download apps that not in the microsoft store when i try downloading apks and other apps it keeps saying do you want to find this app in the microsoft store?
I bought it yesterday and it didn't turn on, we went today to change it and now they want to give it to me for more money, they didn't even give me a guarantee, it's garbage
If you already bought this laptop then oh well! If not, DO NOT BUY THIS LAPTOP. The processor is slower than my Lenovo T410 (from 2010!) and the storage is NOT UPGRADABLE. It's absolutely pathetic that Office only lasts one year!
I have the cb172wm model, and it works pretty good with Linux. When I first booted into Windows 10 it seemed to be just fine, but as I'm on an Ubuntu-based OS now I can't say much else about the performance out of the box.
@Xtstyrs I've been using Zorin OS 16 (Core), so I can't say much about base Ubuntu. It runs amazing and actually makes it usable without stutters or slowdowns. Many people were saying I would have to use the lite edition, but that clearly wasn't necessary. Although, you'd probably get even more of a performance boost on the lite edition if Core already runs on it so well.
So, this laptop wouldn't be good to play the Sims 4 game? I'm looking for a laptop to just play the Sims game, and thats all. So what laptop should I get then I don't want a pricey one.
@@jami369 Used laptops are the way to go! Yes... the battery may have degraded a bit, but that's always replaceable. Anything is better than a crappy laptop that you'll be stuck with. I'm using a HP Elitebook 840 G7 (which goes for around $250 on ebay, originally $1000 MRSP) and it is phenomenal! It does everything I want it to do and gets about 9-12 hours of battery life. I can install Sims 4 on it if you want. Let me know if you have any questions
THIS IS A TRASH COMPUTER HE SETTING U UP ITS SLOW AND HAS LOW SPACE ZOOM ALONE CRASHES ITS BAD FOR GAMING OR FL STUDIO this computer is good for only school u would b lucky if it dosent lag apps sometimes dont close at all and windows 11 is not compatible with this control either just if you can afford a better computer get another if you cannot then take it i guess would not recommend tho
