The only instruction I didn’t follow for 5 minutes was the first thing you said, “Plug in the power cord.” But after I obeyed, I was able to reset it. Thank you!
The HP Streams cannot be factory reset. The PC was designed with only 32GB of storage, which is exactly enough to keep it running, but not enough to factory restart it.
THANK YOU!!!!! i spent ages looking on multiple sites trying to figure out how to fix my laptop and yours was the only successful one, i appreciate it so much!!
Hello friends. This advice may not be relevant to you, but I thought I'd share my fix for my HP Stream 7 Windows 8.1 tablet, where I was stuck on this "Automatic Repair" loop. For me, the solution was simple: Go into BIOS at startup, go to BOOT OPTIONS, and DISABLE "Boot from CD-ROM". Mine boots fine now. I think it was accidentally trying to boot from the hidden System partition drive, mistaking it for a CD-ROM or something. (One side note, I also ran the battery totally flat to reset the CMOS, which may have been related to the fix, not sure.) All the best. Love Muz.
Okay, I have a Stream 14. The hard drive is so small that Microsoft updates won't fit! I uninstalled Office 365 to make room for the stupid updates. Now, I can't get Office 365 installed back onto the computer! I'm going to try to do a factory reset as you showed here and see if that works. This laptop is less than 2 months out of the store, brand new. It seems ridiculous to me that HP would not install a larger hard drive than 32 gigs (really, 27.8 on mine). The microsoft tech support guy said I need at least 25-40 gigs for the Windows 10 system plus 4-5 for the Office 365 install! Unreal. Here we go....
Thanks! My son's was stuck in rebooting itself only to the HP screen. I hope resetting everything will help! It sure would suck if it needs more since it was a Christmas gift! =)
I cant factory reset mine because it say I dont have enough space but I cant delete anything else how do I fix this I have wiped out everything I could
I tried doing that with my HP Stream - 14 and it keeps telling me there is not enough storage on the drive with the windows operating system any advice on how to fix that I've pretty much went and uninstalled everything that the computer would let me and delet all files the computer would let me and still no luck
Yeah man same for me. And I barely have anything on here. Just what it came with. These things are 300$ wasted of garbage. 👎🏼👎🏼 Runs slow now, RU-vid videos and streaming is slow & lags.
HP likes to say "your internet is running slow", but my phone, my PS3, smart TV, everything works perfect except their shity device. Says I have to free up space to be able to reset my HP, yet I never download anything to begin with. Just what it came with. I use Facebook, RU-vid, Amazon, basically just Firefox internet browsing. Now everything is slow and lags, and not cause of MY internet, but YOUR shitty device. 300$ wasted.
Just starter looking... hope this works ås the title says..havent ben able to ude my laptop for like 3 months and im crazy sick og browsing and typing on a Android phone at fss!!!
i have same one your using on this video but mine is white, my screen doesnt come up the same when doing the f11. i get blue screen (choose an option) CONTINUE botton , USE A DEVICE botton, TROUBLESHOOT button and TURN ON YOUR PC botton? help
I have this same one but color blue. I tried the plug in, power on, repeatedly tap f11 but it still has a black screen and my caps lock LED is flashing 2 times every 3 seconds. Can you help me diagnose this problem and find the solution
Austin Waugh I have the same one but all I did is click the power button and spam f11 and then it might send you to a page saying trouble, use usb, and go to window I click trouble then it showed 2 options I clicked the second one then takes you to a page saying just remove my files or fully clean the drive and I clicked remove files and it worked
I used a stream as my travel laptop. Resetting it every 3ish years, the bad boi is over 6 years old now and it works like brand new after every reset, its so weird. Would only get rid of it if its battery stopped working
I don't know if I will get answer from Rubberwilbur. But I have an HP Stream 11. It is so messed up and I don't know where to turn. I have tried till I'm blue in the face, to reset my PC. Keeps telling me "Not enough space" to do reset and I'm in the " Red" on my C drive. I can't even download Ccleaner app. Then it tells me I need Administrator number. What the heck? I don't have such a thing! How do I go about making space anyway? Do I reinstall everything in Downloads, to make space? When I see your screen for the Recovery, it looks nothing like that at all.
You need to duel boot your system with A distro called Damn small Linux. Delete The biggest Windows partition where the hard drive and system files are located. Their should be two smaller windows partitions. One of them should be where the factory reset files are, just make sure you do not delete any of those. In the Linux Installer, you want to delete the biggest windows partition where your main files will be, doing so will destroy your windows system but you will have enough space to preform a factory reset. Once you do this , Formate the space you deleted in NTF file system or another file system Windows can read, restart the computer and Follow his instructions. If you kept those two windows files, the boot menu should pop up and you should now have enough space to reset the computer. At this point , your computer cannot boot into windows but you should have those two Small Windows Partitions. Follow the video instruction and if prompted to overwrite all old windows files you should do so. This is the basics idea of how to fix your problem. You need to go to advanced options when In the Linux installer to delete the main partition, afterwards, you hope for the best because if you mess up, their is a high probility of bricking the computer. I hope this helps.
I recommend only doing what I suggest when you exhausted all other options because their is no return from this point. I messed my paths on Windows 8.1 and I had to delete my Windows drives. In my case, I could not find the hard disk due to path error, so I used the installation disk. I learned how to duel boot Linux in that time and and mess around with the file systems. I noticed that Windows had two partition and one was used for factory resetting but due to my paths not working, my hard drive might as well been dead on the Windows side. As long as your hard drive works I am 90 percent sure this solution could work for you. Windows needs space to set aside before resetting itself, it usually deletes this stuff when it performs cleanup upon a fresh install from my observation. Your problem seems similar to mine but is slightly different. I truly do hope this can fix your problem but the risk are huge. I also recommend looking up how duel booting works, how to reformat drives on Linux and Windows. The only part I am truly unsure of is how the bios is able to use this partition. I removed Windows 10 from my hp stream because I thought with enough updates Windows 10 would screw my computer by eating too match hard drive space, so on my stream I use Ubuntu mate but my desktop duel boot Ubuntu and Windows. I truly hope this helps.
It says" additional free space is needed on the drive where windows is installed. Free up some space and try again" how can I do that if I can't get into it?
I am trying to delete files through the “clean up system files” in the “Disk cleanup” tab but when I click on the “clean up system files” it disappears. Happens every single time. Also, my used storage space is mysteriously going up, windows is probably trying to update in the background but I don’t know how to delete anything since it doesn’t work. Usually in the middle of deleting the tab juts disappears.
My stepdaughter has this same model laptop but it's blue...when you turn it on it looks like it powers on but nothing comes on the screen, it just stays at a black screen. I know how to work on computers but this one has me stumped because I have tried everything. Could it be the display that's out? Or could it not be booting up at all? Factory reset probably won't work because there is no display.
I need help for my tablet. I did this for my stream tablet but its not letting me to press F11. Do you think a kepboard or mouse is required for a tab. Cant press anything from tablet screen
Hi,I really would love to,if I can knew the whole process on how to repair my HP notebooks problem,it can't open but the light symbol is still runt..hope you could help me
Does this have any risks? Because on my previous laptop. When I reset it doesn't work and it pretty much will never turn on and broke. So if I reset my HP 14 and it fails will it work again. Because I don't want to have to spend another bunch of money to buy another laptop
I have a stream 14 that is 2 weeks old and the wifi adapter doesn't show up anymore. I've reset windows twice and it still doesnt show the wifi adapter. I'm also unable to get the HP recovery manager to run, if I hit F11 it goes into the windows reset. Any help would be great.
Hi I have the same laptop but in blue. I was on my laptop and I soon shut it down by going on to the windows logo then going onto power then shut down. The next day I went on it the power button was already on. There was a black screen but the laptop had power so I don't understand what the problem is. I've plugged the charger in and it still hasn't done anything. If you could help me with this problem it will be much appreciated.
I was able to create the recovery media without the system files, however it only boots up and lets you select keyboard layout, Troubleshoot(reset your PC), then none of the none of the options work(System restore, System Image) I tried creating the Recovery Media with System Files, but it errors out. Lastly, this is 32gb model and I have 1.7gb of free space, the internal options(not using the USB Drive) will not work. Any other thoughts?
it says i need my password to delete/clear the account because its an admin account, but the whole issue is i dont know my password? ive been trying to guess it for hours now
