The "Cut & Restored Maps" project for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets PC game allows you to play two deleted maps with a new coat of paint: Adv4GreenhouseOld and Adv10Hermione.
This video showcases the revisited Adv4GreenhouseOld.
The goal of this restoration project is to provide a better gameplay experience while taking into consideration the small amount of information left by the original developers. As such, this shouldn't be interpreted as an accurate representation of the original devs' vision, but as an imagining of what might have been like according to the modders' personal judgement.

These greenhouses feel a lot more like the ones from the Philosopher's Stone, especially the stonework.

This one is tearing me apart. I love the garden areas we visit in the final version of the game, but this version of the greenhouses reminds me a lot of the first game's and of the movies' own interpretation. Ironically the final version is a bit more faithful to the books, since this game still doesn't feature Hogwarts as being a particularly towering castle.

I wasn't too convinced by this map in its original iteration, but I need to say I ended up loving it. It still has some flaws, like it can get monotonous and the "dome room" can be pretty unappealing, however it is still better than what we ended up with. I feel like this is the map Know Wonder didn't really believe in.

HP2 mechanically is an amazing improvement to HP1, but I find the design choices feel more like custom Garry's Mod maps rather than Hogwarts most of the times with the Challenges. And overall the art direction for the first game, especially the atmospheric colours, were much better in HP1.

taking the original map into consideration, i'm glad they scrapped it and made a new one. this one looks odd with those big stairs and alternation of tiny and large spaces. it is the case when the final is better than the prototype. great reconstruction btw.

I think the idea behind it was very interesting and I would have loved to see something like this in the game instead of the criminally-short quest we ended up with. I do agree with your criticism, though. Warrington and I struggled a lot with making this map a bit more interesting, both visually and gameplay-wise. I was seriously thinking of replacing the original map with this iteration (or attempting at merging both), but eventually I decided it was best to leave things separate.

Personally I would cut the stairs at the beginning (or change it into earth path with some diffindo vines and tentaculas), change those reddish wooden walls into something else (like a stone wall with vines) and replace fountain in the last big room with a big tree. Otherwise it's a pretty cool map. And if some puzzles in the og level were going to be like those here, no wonder they decided to make something simpler.

Could there ever be a mod to change game difficulty? Becaue health potions seem useless to me while playing, but what if enemies could deal more damage? Or were faster

By enabling debug mode, you can change the game difficulty in the Options menu (I think it's in the "eye icon" menu). All it does is making Harry more sensitive to damage, but it also changes the Basilisk's behaviour a little. Just like you, I don't use potions at all and they aren't certainly needed in this specific map.

Yeah, you can customize every prespawned enemy pretty well. For the mod I'm working on we're actually making the game hard, so we're implementing some custom stuff for the enemies along with all sorts of wacky ideas

Actually in the user.ini you can set the damage multiplier higher. I personally set it to 45 or something like that which is basically instant kill, which makes it quite fun

@@broidontknow7648 Yeah, same as any other unreal game for those curious, but it doesn't really address any enemy behavior at all or anything, which is of course the more interesting part of making things more difficult For example, in Rictusempra, the fire crabs universally have both poor accuracy and are unable to strafe side from side, and these elements aren't controlled by accuracy

It's been a while since I played the ps1 and ps2 games (and even more from the gameboy color game :D ) but I always wanted to explore hogwarts and uncover all secrets in the game but felt like I had to do the story and was only allowed limited time to find stuff. Do the games have an option to freely explore after the game is finished? I remember the ps1 of harry pottert locked you out at the end but I don't remember if the ps2 games did or not.

Yes, these are maps made and scrapped by the developers. If you watch some videos on what they looked like before this restoration project, you will realize the state in which they were left.
