Hmmm… Not sure what I like more, the truck or the cool video footage with that new DJI. Haven’t really considered HPI in recent years. I’ll be looking more into that. Thanks for sharing. Really enjoyed!!
You just won the pinned comment of the day award! That comment will make tado's day because he is the pilot of the duo, and it makes my day because I love the truck!
They used to be a real stand out in the world of racing, but that's been a long time. I hadn't thought about them in years, but this truck is an absolute gem. From what I hear, HPI is clawing its way back.
That drone makes it so easy. It still takes a little practice to fly it the way tado does, but just about anyone can do it within days of their first flight with it. It's that good.
@@BriansRCStuff thank you buddy. I was just sitting here thinking how some drone footage could make your speed runs an absolute one of a kind. You're good at those, if you could find someone with a decent drone, it doesn't even have to be able to keep with your cars top speed to make epic speed run footage. I already like your videos. But your speed runs with some sort of drone footage would be another level. Maybe have a drone already flying low then your car rips past from underneath it going the same direction, then it rips past you with the stationary camera. That would be insane.
@@Rek_Rc That would be soooo good..... I wish that was an option. Some guy came up to me when running my HBX and was interesting in filming some stuff for me he never reached out (I gave him my channel info). I have always done everything solo and I don't even know anyone in the hobby locally. I wish I was closer to you guys lol, oh well! Great idea. Maybe one day things will pan out and I can up the level of the videos.
Dude i was literally thinking exactly the same as you 30 mins before this vid dropped and told the wife to get me one for Christmas. This truck looks like its well balanced like the Gorgon but like you say i love SC trucks and this looks great for the money brother.
I hope she gets you on buddy. It's well worth its price, especially for that kind of speed. And it's just a total blast in general, especially racing on dirt.
The only thing I don't like about it is the servo saver. It's not really built to take a big hit, but luckily they are cheap and upgradable. Otherwise the truck is ripping fast, and it handles pretty well out of the box, with some adjustable linkages and some tuning I think it would be pretty good on the track.
Great video my friend? Well done! That GPS is not the strongest GPS in the world.😂. The crown is still intact. That truck looks a lot of fun! I am curious if it is less more more stable than my vintage Losi LXT. I was going to run it on 3S today but the wind was making me nervous. That Redcat is a great deal. The gearbox seem pretty strong? Do you have a faster motor for it? If not, you going to need one?
Had this RC for a week now and i have to say this ticks so many boxes for me. Built up a Proline 1967 Ford F100 body for her and used the orange HPI stickers you get with the car. Really cool RC for the money with plenty of power and its crazy light compared to my Arrma Senton.
I love mine too. It's tough, but I wouldn't class it as a basher, like I said in the video, it's a race truck built with bashing as an after thought. It's remarkably light weight, especially compared to a Senton like you said, and it's just so fast.
This thing really surprised me how fast it was and how well it handled being a 2WD. It takes practice to drive 2WD well, but this truck doesn't really seem as difficult on turns, even with a 4000KV system in it. With tuning and practice, this thing probably handles really well. That body will catch air of course (SCT), BUT, venting the rear made a massive and immediate difference. I'd say go for it. If you like SCT, you'll probably enjoy this truck.
I nearly bought one of these a month ago, but got the Team Associated Pro4 SC10 instead, because 4wd, and the price in Australia wasn't really that much different. Love your work, keep it up and you'll be huge in no time! 👍
Omg im so happy i got used arrma kraton 4s v1 for 250€ and some spare parts and battery whith charger i havent been anymore happy in my life althought i wanted senton 3s because i like looks of shortcourse trucks btu still its so awesome to have first real good rc ❤❤
They look great, they handle pretty awesome from what I can see. The only thing that's kinda holding hpi racing back is the quick and local availability of parts.
It’s because they got sued by traxxas for water proof receiver box and kept changing ownership, now it seems they been back with there twin vertical designs that is there own design
You guys don’t realize how hard traxxas works behind the scenes to make sure they’re the house hold brand in hobby shops . If it weren’t for this company truly being a staple in rc development they’d be long gone , it nearly took a miracle for them to be here today but there is alot more competition now . But being a proven design with proven 3 gear ⚙️ tranny hopefully they can find a niche because like you said where you getting quality under 300 bucks .
This is how the slash was when first came out , the 4wd needed the slipper clutch in to wheelie . But just becomes a flying hunk of plastic and longer a vehicle 😂😂
The Jumpshots Flux are such underrated rigs, cheaper than a brushed Slash & twice as fast. Im thinking of picking up both the Jumpshot SC Flux & also the Jumpshot ST Flux. I can get both trucks for around $460 for the pair.
Totally agree. Also getting both for that price still keeps you under a high end Traxxas slash and you're still going to be faster because the slash needs a gear change to do those speeds. The HPI cars can do it fresh from the box without changing a single thing. Not saying the slash isn't a really nice rig, because it is. But sometimes I think the slash line, aside from the BL (excellent move by Traxxas btw), are maybe too nice and therefore you don't see much bashing and racing happening with the slash.
I think people are afraid of hpi, because they went bankrupt a couple years ago, and although they completely recovered people remember that. Also with their tvp chassis they can be a bit of a pain to work on. That being said hpi are just as good if no better than trx and arrm in my opinion..
At least in terms of performance, I absolutely put them right up at the top with the other big names. I couldn't believe how fast it was and quiet as well. I could barely hear it go by and it was mostly air displacement and tires I was hearing more than the motor.
Yes Sir, I just picked up a fully gutted short course flux. .can you tell me if the version here is actually a 3650-4000kv? Also any idea of the pinion size...cant find any specs on this truck...I also am thinking it's a 60 amp esc since place for it is pretty limited...thanks for your help...😊
I ordered a 3660 4200 with 120 amp esc...not sure of its can size..can you remember if its 3660 or smaller? Anyway did you ever service gears...any issues with sand etc getting to gears? I am looking forward to getting this one up and running. I really like its design.😊
They have a long history in the racing world going back to the mid 80s. I hope they can get back to being one of the leaders in the industry again. Making more cars like the jumpshot flux line and the savage is a great way to get there again. I learned from a viewer that feuds with Traxxas in the past cost HPI a few times. I haven't looked into it, but it wouldn't surprise me at all.
It's funny, I am an absolute fanatic about its predecessor to this day, the Blitz. I still go club racing with it and I'm about to drop a 7700KV Castle system in it. And I never really realized how much of a worthy successor the Jumpsuit was until I saw this video. The Blitz was so tough, tougher than the Slash at the time and better around the track than the SCT Lois was coming out with in that time period, or in my opinion at least. And this seems Like they're kept the spirit of that alive even though the platform is vastly different. Mine came with that same 4000KV motor, thing is a beast, I have it in my Laegendary Thunder right now. I really want want one of these and I have for a while now. But just cannot seem to make my mind up. Do I want to get the SC or the ST and go racing? I'm still not ready to give up on my Blitz yet but I could do one for MOD SC and one for 17.5, Or do I want to get the MT and go bashing? I really want a 2wd MT, I've never had one, between that, the gorgon, and I'm also looking at the integer i10T because I love the high center of gravity. I just cannot seem to make my mind up...
I understand that. I'm torn between several RC cars at the moment myself. We're currently working on a full episode of 4 sentons for our Senton show down. And after that I've got like 6 ideas and cannot settle on a single one.
This biggest reason for hpi not being as popular with racers is support in canada on the shelf at local hobby shops ,They are just as smooth as the Associated sc10 though I had the hpi blitz a few years back .
Yep, vented the body in the rear, it stayed on the ground much better and I was able to pin and hold the throttle on several passes. All between 53, and 55 MPH.
@@secondhandrc7024 I want that quantum flux Street car and I'll have one on the channel, we'll give it the Rek RC treatment too because I've heard they are tough.
@@Rek_Rc Sweet!! Can’t wait. I’m torn between the truck and car body!! Love the truck look but there’s something different I like about the car body and its lines!!! I have the Maverick flux truggy and it’s every bit as good as my Senton!!🤙🏻👍🏻
Wow, that is an impressive SC truck! I have seen these in my shop and it seems like they just get overshadowed by the big 3. I'd definitely get one at some point though. Chassis and drive train seems pretty solid, but it looks like those long arms are probably the weak points.
Yeah, the arms could be a weak point, but this truck seems like it's somewhere between a basher and a racing truck. It has elements of both, though I would be much more likely to race it than take it out on a heavy bash. It's tough enough to take some jumps and some tumbles, but I won't be taking it to the skatepark like my Senton.
Yep, I didn't think of that until after I finished filming. Normally I try to at least give a good one over under the hood, but this time I totally forgot.
Thank you, and I appreciate the comment. I'm not sure exactly why sct are my favorite. I think it's because they are full bodied which makes them look impressive, they have their own unique handling characteristics aside from even cars of the same chassis designs as well, and they always look larger than they are. When they're fast, it's a blast because you always have to be watching for them to lift off like a plane. Racing them is fun because you can get fender to fender without worrying about the tires making contact and sending them flying so the racing gets very tight.
Just ordered this a few days ago, super excited. You're right, there's not enough content. Of course I've noticed there's not much parts availability, either.
