It's not only the voice. But, Annie... WHAT A VOICE. I've seen videos of Annie Lennox singing in appretiation of Sting, Bowie, Neil Young, Nina Simone, Joni Mitchell... I think it's time for a well deserved tribute to her from their peers and equals. She's up there in her own league. She's a gift. A wonderful gift.
First of all, I love this song. Second, Annie's version of it blew me away. This was so incredibly emotional and powerful, I couldn't believe it. I'm so glad Annie is still out there doing her thing and doing it so beautifully well!
Agree with all the comments. Loved Annie Lennox/Eurythmics since the they released first record in 1983. I'm in my 60s now. Enough said. I'm still 18 in my head. This takes me back to 80s.
I had tears in my eyes listening to this. Annie did a great job singing this. Her voice is perfect for this song. What a wonderful tribute to Joni Mitchell.
My immediate thoughts are: does Annie have a portrait of herself, aging in an attic somewhere? The woman does not age, and her voice is still strong and subtle. Second: there are a lot of parallels between Joni and Annie. Both strong, amazing pioneers and feminist icons with a unique sound and approach to their artistry. Considering that Joni almost “bought the farm” not so long ago, due to illness, it is Gobsmaking that she appeared on the Grammy’s in 2024. Another Canadian OG🇨🇦💖
It’s so touching and she paints a whole picture of emotions in this song with her voice and attitude. I can’t recall who said this, but this song really lets the singer put in the emotions of whatever age there in. It has been a pleasure to hear it from 25 year old Joni and her version when she was 80 - and now of Annie. How sublime.
I dedicate this incredible version of the Joanie Mitchell classic to my once eternal, now Celestial ange; my lovely 92 year old mother, who passed away on February 19th after suffering a fatal massive stroke. I miss her so much but I am healing because I feel the hole in my heart being filled with her spirit. I love you Mommy. I'll be with you soon. But, not yet. Not yet.
Wow I am hoping she recorded this so we can buy her record. Not only did she knock this song out of the ball park with her voice, her theaterics were amazing too. She'd be great on Broadway. Bravo! I would have been on my feet with her first note. My hat goes off to Brandi for dusting Joni, Annie and dare I say Tanya Tucker who all have made an amazing comeback. Thanks for sharing.
Joni Mitchell inspired Annie to be a singer. This was 2023. She gas horrible stage freight. This meant a lot to her to be there for Joni. I am 51 honored to watch this because I just love her music like she loves Joni's.
I'm slightly stunned ... also fulfilled and with a hint of ecstasy brewing ... oh, Annie -- my 80's crush and the reason I've always had an eye for shorthaired women ❤
Annie, Annie, ANNIE!! YOU are amazing, so special, such a treasure. May we be blessed to hear your artistry for years to come. p.s. Thanks for your recent tribute to Sinead O'Connor too.xox
