Bring a little rock-n-roll to your home bar with this classic recipe from Hard Rock Cafe...the HRC Hurricane. As Opening Staff of Hard Rock Cafe Tijuana in 1992, I had the pleasure of working at this classic hot spot during they hey-day of Rock. This was one of the most requested drinks and each bartender had their own special "flair" when preparing it. And now, you can make it from the comfort of your own home! Recipe below.
Hurricane Cocktail Recipe - WHAT YOU NEED:
1 oz White Rum
1 oz Dark Rum
1 oz Gin
2 oz Pineapple Juice
2 oz Orange Juice
1 oz Grapefruit
Splash of Amaretto
Splash of Grenadine
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Add Rums, Gin, pineapple/orange/grapefruit juices to a hurricane glass filled with ice
Top with a splash of Amaretto and splash of Grenadine
Garnish with cherry and orange slice
Enjoy!

Recently had a Mai Tai made with Black rum, light and dark rum, pineapple juice, orange juice, blackstrap floater and grenadine. I would like to know what a blackstrap floater is?

That is a great question: According with my dictionary of drink by Ned Halley -blackstrap it is a local terminology for molasses in Rum-distilling, this is topical for Caribbean islands. I’m pretty sure that the color was pretty dark, and it was a toasty flavor in you tai, and you probably had a fantastic view of turquoise waters, if not, then go to the Caribbean and repeat the drink!!
