HSE: Karkat Vantas, Abraxian Tsundere 

Act 5 karkat was kinda the epitome of 12-year-old humor in 2010. All us youngins just saw shouty class clown talking big like he was the goku of the story. His arc kinda parallels the decline in interest in homestuck during act 6, actually, when everyone in the story was growing up enough to realize how heavy everything was. No one thought of homestuck as philosophical like we do today, it was viewed basically as the last slapstick adventure cartoon of pre teens, baby’s first fandom, before everyone stopped stigmatizing nerdiness or liking stories past 13.

I absolutely love Karkat, and always have, because even when I was reading the comic for the first time when I was a teenager, I recognized that Karkat's anger never really correlated to violent impulses. Karkat's anger mostly came from frustration and worry. weirdly, I think Karkat's frustration is like that of a pacifist... not in the sense that Karkat would really self identify as a pacifist, but like... if someone has pacifistic beliefs, or even a pacifistic lean, they will inevitably carry a lot of anger over the existence of blatant, preventable injustice. there's a way to get along, it's very clear to them, and they can see people out there choosing not to do it. if everybody could just... _care_ about each other. if we could all just protect each other from harm. if we could all agree that that's the most valuable thing. but sometimes people are assholes. sometimes people choose violence, or exploitation, or some other loathsome thing over basic problem solving. even among his own friends, Karkat's strongest impulse is just to take the reigns, tell everyone what to do, get all his ducks in a row, and keep everybody organized, and cordial, and alive. to him, that's the bare minimum. even though the fact that he pulled it off is actually really impressive. he thinks of it as the least he could ask for. he raises the whole group's standards for what constitutes an appropriate amount of concern for others. honestly... it makes all the sense in the world that Karkat and Kanaya always got along so well. Kanaya had a really strong reputation for being a good mediator, and whenever she and Karkat talk, it's always a pretty calm, respectful conversation all the way around. the two of them are frequently on the same page, and I think that's nice.

@@taffydragon7323 Duelist hasn't abandoned the channel. If you check the Community Tab, he's going through a lot of money and moving troubles, so he probably just doesn't have the time to sit down, script, record, edit, render, and upload a video and might not even turn a profit. But from what I can tell he's still active on his Tumblr. It might be a while till he can upload again, but I'm sure he's working hard to try and do it again.

Blood player here, squeeing, this is so nice. So often it seems like Blood embodies its own subtlety in the fandom to the point that it’s overlooked and thought of as the lame powerless aspect. You low key predicted some ideas I’m putting into a fanfic even.

Exhibit A: *Peridot refers to her hands and feet using alien terms such as "touch stumps" and "gravity connectors". *Karkat introduced readers to many alien terms, including "think pan", "shame globes", and "load gaper". - *Peridot and Lapis bond over TV drama series and home-made "music for your eyes" they call "meat morps". *Karkat and Dave bond over romcoms and Can Town. It is with this evidence that I submit to the court that, in fact: John is Steven, Karkat is Peridot Dave is Lapis, and The Mayor is the pet Pumpkin.👍

Karkat is better than steven xd, he dosent sing for "solving" problems, he really want to help and tries his best for make everyone feel better and cares about their future. He helps the others to stand up and be the best version of theirself. In the other way steven only shuts the problem with songs and dont really try to really solve them.

I'm 17 and I think the world's just fine. I dunno, it doesn't feel like dictating what the world is or isn't is my opinion in the first place. I prefer to just live my own life. I can't exactly bring myself to care about things outside my scope.

I felt that way back when I was 17. Now I'm 24 and all I want to say to my younger self is: take your time in sorting shit out, it's okay if you don't know where you're going. Life is a marathon, not a sprint, so don't wear yourself out
