Beat me to it! :) it's somewhat picky with 6010s. Lincoln 5P+ are the easiest to run by far. Blue Demon and Best Welds are a no-go. Böhler tends to snuff out as well. Anchor works well, as does Hyweld 6010's.

Wow, sounds like you have the whole stockroom of 6010s to play with. I just tried the old school Lincoln red brick 5P+ that I had laying around and some Kiswel rods. They both worked fine on 1/8”. 3/32” struggled a bit like I showed in the video. Unless you’re running open root pipe, I honestly don’t think running 6010 is that big of a deal, but people always ask about it.

Question, I see some videos where there is a spray added to prevent the little balls and such from sticking to the piece which makes cleanup easier but what does it do to the weld puddle when a portion of the spray lands right in the corner or where the puddle is going.

Sounds like the machine is very similar to my previous esab 161lts. However I replaced it with the esab 180 rouge, which I believe is a better value as it has 20 more amps, adjustable arc force and hot start. Roughly same size and weight as the htp and not much more money and a 3 year warranty.

I also have a Rogue 180 that I use a lot. You may have seen it on other videos. It’s an awesome machine. I do think that the $780 price tag is significantly different than the $500 that this machine comes in at.

The manual states "NOT APPROVED FOR GENERATOR USE" in giant red letters 😅 do you know why? I need a small stick welder to run ONLY on generator power 😮‍💨

It has to do with the nature of the power supply, but I don't know exactly why. In my opinion, that's the biggest limitation of this machine. I've used it a lot since this video and it's great, even better than I gave credit for in the vid. However, if you need one to use with a generator, this isn't going to be the right fit for you.

This particular machine is made in China, like nearly everything in this price range. This is one of the few HTP machines that isn't made in Italy. Having tried several machines this size, I'll say that not all of the Chinese welders are made equal and this unit is much better than anything else I've seen on the market for this money. To get something any better, you have to move up in price to something like the ESAB Rogue 180 which is also made in China for double the price.

The closest Italian machine that they have at the moment is the InverTIG 221, which is an amazing stick and pulsed stick machine as well as an HF start AC/DC TIG. It's quite a bit more expensive than this one, but is really in another league with a ton of capability. They used to have a fairly comparable Italian stick machine, but it's no longer available.

Everlast 200STI is $325 right now, 40 amps more, better duty cycle, hot start, arc force, dual voltage, 6010 mode...More amps, more features, less $$.

Bottom line. If you want to run 6010's don't buy a machine that has less than 80 volts open circuit voltage. Period...

80+ is great but 70V is also very doable. There is also the actual welding voltage at the arc while it is running, which this little machine has plenty of, since it can run some 6010s.

Completely False information! I’ve seen welders push 6010 in the mid 60’s OCV.. My ESAB 205 is rated at 68 OCV’s and runs 6010 like a champ. If a persons has a machine in the mid 60’s and higher and their machine is having issues with 6010, then have a faulty welder or they possibly don’t know what they are doing, and need a little assistance
