It’s nice to see and EMD (Virginian) and a G.E. (Norfolk Southern) on the same train as it makes spotting the similarities and differences a lot easier. The distinctive feature of the EMDs are the two fans on the roof above the radiator section (the fans on the G.E. are hidden under the metal grating, though the two both have a large bulge on the back where the radiators are.) The distinctive feature of the G.E. Unit is the two air tanks above the fuel tank, but below the walkway on the right (Engineer’s) side. Also, the exhaust stack is more pronounced. One could go on and on, but that’s a topic for a whole ‘nuther video! 😎
Another awesome video AC! That 052 looked familiar ;) I appreciated the extra info on that move, as I never knew much about it. I also didn't know that Air Products is moving to Florida. That makes me extra glad that I went out and saw it on the Lehigh Line...never knew when it'll disappear. Also always enjoy the DL action!
Thanks, Brendan.. Yes, they are rare (only 2 or 3 per year) and when you can get Heritage to boot.. Why not?.. Get em' while you can though, Air Products is moving to Florida.
It really depends on where you're at.. Here in Northeast PA, anything CSX is rare although a LOT more frequent now than at any other time in the past.. CSX cars can be seen in about half the trains but this is only one of two times that I've ever seen anything "Family Lines" in this area and the only time that I've ever seen it in Steamtown or on the D-L..
Great video AC! I have some info on that rusty car on the DL...It came from Portland PA on the PT98 (I think) I believe it may get restored by Steamtown or the DL but thats not definite currently...
Nice Video!!!! Do you know when the next High and Wide move will interchange in Lehighton again? i would like to know so i can come up and catch it. Thanks.
Unfortunately I don't.. My best advice is to get on some of these Facebook groups (if you're not already on them) and listen in.. You can usually get a lot of good info on various special moves taking place.
hey I have a question. Why does Norfolk have stricktly roof lights instead of nose lights? like I've seen a mix of nose and roofs on other railroads but on Norfolk they're all roofs. Why is that?
It seems rail fans know lots about trains but not much about making videos beyond putting a tripod and camera in position and letting the train roll on by.
