How does playing the game with the proper rules change the experience for you? A lot of people complain that you can steal pagodas for free and the pagodas are just flying back and forth throughout the game. I want to know if i should house rule it. Thank you.
GREAT playthrough! Thank you, Paul and friends. I haven't played Tigris & Euphrates in well over 15 years. I loved it then, but the game was owned by close friends of ours. It didn't make sense to buy it, too. We've (sadly) gone different directions, so seeing this is available NOW is great news. I am absolutely enamored with the setting and artwork. Confident I will be getting this. I am not always driven for the deluxe version, but if it's not too expensive...I might just do it this time.
Thank you for the stream Paul. What a close finish! 😨 I’ve always been curious about Yellow and Yangtze but never got to play it. Your video helped me realise these are not games I’d like to play 😂😂
At 24:12, When you build the triangle of three tiles for the first time, you place a pagoda immediately for free. You only pay two green tiles to move an existing pagoda to a different existing triangle location.
Incredibly close finish, I had no knowledge of the previous iterations of this title and gave me a good idea of what it is about. Seems like the rulebook won't be a huge learn but with some depth of play, I liked your comment of if you are every unsure of what to do on your turn look at the counters you currently have the least of do what will get you more of them. I liked two things in particular, firstly that you can't just hit one colour hard and ignore the others and secondly the conflict happens on numerous colour pieces and is never devastating for someone and puts them out of the game.
@@adrian_phalanx thanks. Apologies for the minor rules error with the pagodas. I’ve added a correction on here, and on BGG. It’s clear in the rules, not sure how I missed that :(
What do you think will be the play time after you've taught it to your playgroup? Will this be a game that occupies the coveted 45 minutes to 1 hour slot?
Y&Y and this basically the same game as T&E. not enough changes to make it worthwhile owning more than one of them and T&E is still the best imo as it offers the best opportunity for divergent play, more waxing and waning of the states and the monuments and conflicts offer more strategic options and interesting decisions.
Pronounced like WANG with an H in front. It’s the Chinese word for Yellow (like in Yellow Emperor, the good old original emperor LOL) written in Mandarin style phonetics, instead of Wong which is the British effort at phoneticizing Cantonese (likely from the old Hong Kong colonial days). That’s why the box is a yellow theme. Yellow actually symbolizing gold, back in the day. Yellow gold. Too bad this is a minimum 2 player game… 😢
By forcing the player to collect an equal amount of victory points across all types, I am automatically forced to use combat... I don't like that. Would have been great if I could choose my own combination / preferences of how I want to play / score.
