i'd say the mate 20 pro has the best camera(s)... but features? I think the V40 has full manual photo and video shooting... so that "features" part might just go to the LG V40 here
It's not that they are spying on you to get pics of your mother in law in her hair rollers , it is that it is written in to Chinese law that if the people's army wants huawei to cooperate , they must comply in every way . It's up to you if you are cool with that.

I switched from Note 9 to Mate 20 Pro Except the S Pen ( which I used every day) and the stereo speakers which sound louder, the rest BETTER SIGNIFICALLY BETTER

After this review I bought the Huawei Mate 20 Pro Emerald green. Such a beautiful phone. Have to give credit where its due. You can see how much work and thought has been put behind it.
Haha this mate 20 pro review is sort of biased. Like the skin softening on the selfie cam is neglected. He mentioned that the front camera has 1080p video recording and also said that he expects higher. Although no other phone does video in the front camera more than 1080p. :(

Well what I really hate about MKBHD is, he Doesn't give the recognition to Huawei where it deserves, or he never acknowledge it. Well, mate 20 pro is a much better well rounded phone than the pixel 3 XL , Bette priced, bigger battery, almost same level of camera performance, in fact better performance than the 845. That's what pisses me off.
The pixel's software and camera is above all of it's competition. It's two of the most important deciding factors when choosing a phone. Huawei mate 20 pro may excel in every other other category. But i think its camera (front) and its software are its biggest weaknesses. Plus it isnt sold in the US. It has also stopped the support for third party launchers in its UI.
Finally my Huawei Mate 20pro arrived. I used it for about 2 weeks. Overall I am satisfied with the performance, design, and camera of the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The best Phone 2018.

@@DJTR3NDY I was iphone user. i'm using mate10 pro for a year, I love it. I don't know too much about the softwares, cause they are diffrent. but with better battery and better cameras, bigger screens. I would say yes, much much better than iphone. iphone… I don't know. too boring I guess
Nope. Have a pixel 2 xl and 20 pro, indoors the pixel is sharper and has more natural colors. Also you get better shots easily. You must really hold the 20 pro steady and the slightest move will ruin your shot.

The curved screen was a nightmare for typing, and the on screen fingerprint scanner was very unreliable. I sold mine, and went for it's big brother, the Mate 20X.
Great review Jaime... Have my Mate 20 Pro for 48 hours and couldn't be happier. Yes a few things annoy me but the Speaker is better than I expected. I do have a few issues regarding notifications not showing the text but other than that I'm happy to make the move from my GS9+
They almost reached the agreement with US carrier when mate 10 pro was launched last year, but was brutally killed at the last moment before the cooperation was about to announce.
Looks like after 3 Samsung phones this is my next phone. A few issues with the p20 pro still made me contemplate the S9 still but this seems so futureproofed. Wow! 👌
7:24 That's really impressive, especially for a selfie cam. Would've been the icing on the cake if Huawei integrated OIS into their selfie camera HTC 10 style.
Coming from HTC 10, it was one of those specs that made me chose HTC, very nice phone still going strong without hick ups in 2018 but, the battery.. Such a shame. Replacing the battery turned out to be a nightmare so, M20 pro it is.

Watching this satisfyingly on my Mate 20 pro. I don't think the speaker is a downside since most people are actually using a headphone anyways. Not many phones have Dolby sound just to note. Besides that the phone is just "Flash" fast and the battery life is a killer. You can't go wrong with his phone if your looking for the best in Android.
Huawei is hands down the best in alot of the tech dept. My first smartwatch is the Huawei Classic, eventually I jumped onto Samsung & Apple wear but they cant compare to Huawei. I'm not biased in any way, my first phone was Samsung then Apple so I've been there & know from experience. Smartwatches dont compare to Huawei, the only runner up is Apple watch(compare their specs) Anyhow, Im positive the tech market was SHOOK when they realized Huawei was coming for them so the US banned them, I mean cmon, what in the hell type of excuse is this "spy" BS they came up with... Never will I use another brand other than LG when it comes to my phones, Huawei for tech here!!
The problem is the huawei nano memory card.It is more expensive than micro SD card.And if your next phone is not huawei,what should one with the nano memory card?
People complaining that it's a copy of both Samsung and Apple but what they forget it's copying and putting the best of both into one device. Samsung devices have great display but their Soc, battery and updates suck.for Apple it's the cost and premium for extra features.this phones covers everything at a lesser cost than XR..this is my next phone
A proud owner. Yes I am very impressed with this phone. Negatively, I don't much like the curved edges of the screen - not good for viewing and easily miss touched. I could not have paid the £900 UK price but as I found it free on contract for £696 over two years with 100gb of vodaphone data it seemed doable. Happy enough now.
Your forgot to mention: It supports RAW output of photos. The generated JPEGs only capture 50% of the true quality of the camera sensors, especially due to the aggressive noise reduction - large prints of the photos are not possible, since the noise reduction destroys the details. The zoomed JPEGs look like painted with a brush. The RAW images allow full access right down to the single pixel with all the details preserved in surfaces and objects far away.
@@cypher3874 This! I was a huge advocate for stock android myself, but after using a Mate 9 there are features that I like on EMUI, it's just that I dislike the look of it. But that's something Nova, as well as many other launchers can fix ^^
Jaime visually this phone is a Samsung with a notch. And if your display was made by boe then your fine, but if you were unlucky enough to get a mate 20 pro with a lg screen then it would probably turn hulk edition (green) after a couple of days..
Love the device, but having the same problem. Spoke to local Huawei and they said they'll replace it (apparently they're waiting for the new batch to arrive---many here have had to exchange their devices!)

I love the phone but I can never have a phone with a notch. Don’t tell me that I can hide it. It’ll still be there and hiding it makes the top bezel bigger than the chin. I like my note 9 much better.
Huawei just doesn't have Family Gene in their designs. Their phones look so different from one design to another. More so, they like to copy from others. This phone looks so Samsung to me. Come on Huawei!
I agree with you Jaime, i think all android phones should have the google fedd on the left side. I'm using the rootless pixel launcher on my Galaxy S8 and have for having this fedd. Your review help me to decido who will be my next phone!
This review is the only one that mentions it's poor sound quality!!i love almost everything about it,apart from the very cheap sound!!it sounds like a £100 phone,compared it to the mate 10 pro and note 9 and it sounds embarrassingly bad!! it's got a lot of clarity,but bass is non existent! it' doesn't go very loud, i'm tryiing to live with it,but don't think i can! how could huawei have dropped the quality so much from the mate 10 pro?, hats off to jaime for being the only big reviewer to point this out.
I knew that Huawei is playing big right from the launch of Mate 10 Pro. I have used Huawei phones long back as the Nuxus P. I plan to buy the Mate 20 Pro but waiting for the prices to come down a bit.
I REALLY wanted the Mate 20 Pro, but buying a phone outright (USA carriers don't offer them on monthly plans) is very expensive. I settled for buying the P20 Pro, which is still an absolute beast, and it's the FIRST phone I've ever owned that has made it through a full day of use without needing a charge. I do not regret the purchase and the smaller form factor is probably better for my daily needs. However, not being able to buy a phone with warranty or support in my country is a little upsetting. I feel that I might never receive the Android Pie/EMUI 9 update.
Actually the speakers in the type-c port are good for gaming!When I played PUBG on my S10+, I always blocked the speaker because I had to grip the device. As for the Mate 20 Pro, even I hold the phone for gaming, my hand doesn't block the speakers.Just wish it was a bit louder. As for the gestures they are super smooth and efficient(much better than One UI gestures that require figner gymnastics) . Once you get used to them, it looks so stupid to use navigation buttons.
Just throw pure ndroid on? Laugh, you can't even install Nova launcher on this pile of shit without getting a notification about system instability and it breaks gesture navigation with this buggy animation.
This phone sounds amazing. It actually makes me want to give up my iPhone X. Too bad I can’t Pay this in installments on T-Mobile. Hopefully Samsung learns something with this. Probably not hahaha 😭😭😭
I just don't care what a phone looks like as far as color and design. I'm putting my phone in the sturdiest armor case I can find. I'm only interested in the specs and the guts. How's the camera? Speed? Display? I like this phone. Not because it's pretty. But it appears to be "a beast". I'm still glad I have a Note 9 because of DEX and the stylus. If not for that I would jump on this phone
Good news! I just checked Amazon.com and they still have this phone and other Huawei phones for sale. So if you want to buy them Amazon is the way to go.
Do a review on the Huawei mate 20 and mate 20X, and please address "Glue Gate". I'm trying to decide between the mate 2O, mate 20X and a one plus 6T maclaren ( when it comes out), been rocking the mate 9 for over 2 years 💪
But the main camera doesn't have OIS right? How can it ensure not to produce blurry images in lowlight using Auto Mode? I don't suppose the AIS works in Auto Mode as well, not just in Night Mode?
I have had many cellphones over the years. Now one of my best ever yet is the Mate 20 X 7.2 inch is really good for youtube facebooking. Battery is omg 60 % left the end of the day.
