I don't usually sub to tech reviewers because I think most of them are paid by these companies and therefore they're biased. However, I'm subbed to your channel because I think your reviews are always very honest
Good work on your thorough comparison! Do you happen to know of any compatible digital pencil for MatePad 11, cheaper than the original Huawei m-pencil gen2? Thanks in advance for your reply.
I just want it for drawing, nothing elso (maybe some games) so which one is better? i don't care about space because mostly i'll move my drawings to disk. Do the pencil come with it or i should buy it separately? Thank you very much.
Thanks, I always come to your channel or your blog to compare pen performance of tablets before buying them. At the moment I'm still torn between Mi Pad 5 (non pro version) and Matepad 11 (don't need google services, I can sideload apks). From what I understand, pen performance on Mi Pad 5 is inferior to Matepad 11. If you have time and a friend who owns Huawei budget tablet T10s, you can review it too. MPen1 works on that, but the diagonals are super wobbly.
Note that even if you side load Google apps, some may not work as you need Google Play Services. Some apps will also need that for either authentication (eg restore purchases you made, or if you want to buy in app stuff).
Thank you for your video. For this to compare with iPad Pro, do you think the iPad Pro worth the top up? Talking in terms of drawing. Not looking at the processor since m1 chip is almost unbeatable at the moment. Also not about the App Store support. Just in term of the drawing app and drawing experience?
Apple Pencil performs more consistently and reliably, and is overall just a more sensitive and accurate stylus. The lack of drawing apps from the Huawei AppGallery is a downside now. And even for the apps that are there, many have not been updated for a long time.
Hi, is it necessary to apply screen protector on any tablets that you mainly use for drawing? I was thinking of applying one as i worry i might scratch the screen, then if did, i am worried the pen will be less sensitive..
I would appreciate your thoughts on the comparison between this tablet and the iPad 8th Gen, especially regarding the pencil behaviour, latency etc. Also, which one is better at web browsing ?
Both tablets are very comparable for pen latency, web browsing, download, switching apps. But those are minor differences if any. Big difference is there's no Google Play Store. No Google apps. For other apps you can install from downloaded APKs. Apple's advantage is they have more good quality apps from the app store.
@@teohontech7141 he said ipad 8gen lol. The one with laminated display and screen tearing 60hz. It's like a 2015 tablet design with old apple chip. Matepad 11 with 120hz runs is straight over.
@@droo3010 If there's no Google Play Store, it does not matter how good the tablet is UNLESS you use Chinese apps. It's the iPad Mini (2021) that has noticeable screen tearing, not the normal iPad.
Hi! Thanks for the detailed reviews of these tablets. I'm thinking of bying the Matepad 11, but not sure which M-pencil to choose: gen. 1 or gen 2. Which one has better perfomance?
Heyyy! I have MatePad 11 and wanna start with drawing. Unlucky, i dont have pencil, and orginal cost too mych. Have u any advice for something cheaper? Best with pressure sensivity.
Im looking for aomething very practical for fashion illustration. Do you recommend this version MatePad 11? I notice your lines go from thick to thin is it overly sensitive or one has to learn to control the hand pressure ?
I just received the Mi Pad 5 yesterday. The Xiaomi provides more value for money simply because it's cheaper, and there's Google Play Store. My full review will be out soon.
Hello Teoh! I've been watching your videos everytime when I want to buy a new tablet! Between matepad 11 and Mi pad 5, which one would be better? For drawing on clipstudio.
On the part "Line quality test" aren't you testing an older 1st gen m-pencil stylus on the matepad pro ? Instead of using the newer 2nd gen m-pencil like the one used for the Matepad 11 ? I believe that the 2nd gen m-pencil works on both tablets right ?
I’m using the same 2nd gen pen for the two reviews. My pen did not perform well so I thought it was hardware issue and I borrow my friend’s pen (same) and it performed similarly
@@teohontech7141 okay then. I thought all gen 2 M-pencil had transparent caps with the metal ball. That's why I thought the the Matepad Pro' stylus was gen 1, since it had a non titanium cap that was a in rubber and it wasn't transparent. Anyway, it seems now that Huawei is selling most Matepad pros in Europe with the transparent stylus instead of the rubber. I think your video was so popular that it made them replace all rubber pens by the metal ball point ones. Nice job. Do you think the newer matepad pro 12.6 performs better than the old pro 10.8 you tested?
@@ryanyc9619 The 2nd gen M Pencil comes with both transparent and gray tips. One's a replacement. The 12.6 should have similar drawing performance as the 10.8.
@@teohyc Hi, a bit late but a French RU-vidr had lots of problems with the rubber m-pencil. He said it would seems the metal ball point pen is newer and is supposed to replace all rubber pencil that have several known issues. Perhaps all the Matepad pro were sent with the older rubber gen1.
Hi, I would like to know, which tablet have best response time for drawing and best feeling for drawing Apple, Samsung, Huawei, some other (preffer android)? How would you compare MatePad11 draw feeling to Tab S7+?
Response time is good. On par with Apple and Samsung. Tab S7+ pen I feel is more sensitive. And the rubber tip is less slippery. Anyway, main selling point of Samsung is there's Google Play Store.
There's no Google Play Store. The Google Chrome app was installed via download APK file. All apps that require Google Play Services cannot work on the Huawei. E.g. Maps, Gmail, Keep, Calendar, Hangouts, RU-vid etc. even if you download APK and sideload them.
@teoh is replacement for tips free on huawei? What to do when all included tip replacements are worn? I just put a matte paper-like protector on the tablet and kind of noticed the tip of mpencil is wearing off very fast.
@@teohontech7141 I looked at your reviews (Huawei M-Pencil 2nd Gen,s6 lite and MatepadPro note taking), you are really good, unfortunately I only discovered this channel now. I need some advice, I'm a university student who would like to take notes on the tablet. In Italy there are currently two promotions for tablets, the first for the s6 lite 280 €, the second from the huawei site which expires on August 31, (Matepad 11 6/64 + M-Pencil 2 + Freebuds 3 white + Smart Magnetic Keyboard for MatePad 11) the whole package for 350 €. What do you recommend to take between the two?
@@lillobarilotto7354 The Huawei seems to be the better deal. Only important thing to consider is there's no Google Play Store so you have to use the web version of Google services, e.g. Gmail (not that nice), Maps, RU-vid, Hangouts (no alternative).
It’s software problem with the app which hasn’t been updated for a year. I can’t find workarounds. Also if you install the app via downloaded APK, you cannot save your work because Google Play Services are needed
Hey i want to buy matepad 11 but im terrified that i will not find any digital art apps worth using. Like concepts is mostly for projects? Im worried nothing is going to work on that tablet
There are many good drawing apps on Android. E.g. Infinite Painter, Medibang Paint Pro, Sketchbook, Concepts. Clip Studio Paint and Krita are good but not ideal for small display size. You can install all these apps from Google Play Store via Gspace app available from Huawei app store.
@@teohontech7141 thank you a lot. I also consider iPad but all i could afford is like gen 6 or 7 max gen 8 + pencil. Is it worth buying? Im scared if they wont be supported by apple soon and i would have to buy newer one..
@@teohyc thanks a lot for your reply im subbing you for sure. i checked samsung tab s6 lite 2022 and it seems like 60 hz screen makes huge delay while drawing so i decided to check something with 120 hz screen. this is why i considered matepad 11 couse i can get it with keyboard and pen for like 300$ (used but great condition) while xiaomi pad 5 + smart pen gonna cost me like 400+$. Is matepad 11 worth trying compared to pad 5?
@@ysabellegabion987 I don't think there's a compelling reason to get a tablet just for drawing when you can get paper, pen, markers and coloured pencils.
great video. Unfortunately concepts seems to be no more available in the app gallery. I installed the apk but there are no pro options available then :-(
@@teohontech7141 thx man, but i have another question about the m pencil , in my country i can’t find any pen tips so does the platinum coated nips durable ? Like for 3 years or so ?
@@badassplayer4977 The platinum pen tip should not wear down. Just make sure you don't drop the pen. My platinum pen tip cracked and I could not find the same replacement.
@@teohontech7141 so something wrong with Huawei s pencil 2? Because s6 LITE is inferior Vs the Matepad 11 on every aspect: screen ,CPU, ram, USB. the tablet's hardware anyway. Or the Huawei appstore will be too much trouble?
@teohontech7141 If possible Does that also mean we can buy the license plan? Does it also work on Harmony Os huawei ? I mean I thought it only works on Ios, adroid, chromebook Or maybe you can explain it a little to me ?, even if you want you can make a video, i think it will help a lot of people
@teohontech7141 because I checked the posts of the csp community, some of them had problems and had the same questions And the answers i get are also not clear, there is no clear certainty.
@@apekadon7706 First install Gspace app from Huawei App Gallery. Gspace gives you Google Play Store. Next search and install Clip Studio Paint from Gspace. After installation, it's normal usage and sign in with your licence from there.
@@teohontech7141 If so, do we purchase a License Plan on another device and then log in to Huawei Matepad afterwards, or can we directly buy the csp license on our Huawei device? , I usually buy a license plan on the Csp website, I don't buy a license plan on google play.
Concepts from Huawei AppGallery can be installed but hasn't been updated for a long time. The latest version of Concepts can be installed from APK but it needs Google Play Services otherwise you will not be able to restore your purchases, and hence you cannot backup your files or export your files out from the app.
Yes. Most should work. Not all though. E.g. I wasn't able to install Genshin Impact for some reason. Concepts (drawing app) APK is available and can be installed but it requires Google Play Services so it cannot save files.
There are many apps that use Google services as well. E.g. Apps that use Google Drive for backup will all not work. All apps purchased from Google Play Store will have to be purchased again. If you don't use Google apps, and if the apps you don't don't use Google services, then there's no problem.
matepad11 is a successful device. But I don't feel anything special. It didn't seem like much to my phone. big screen etc. . not for drawing. I use it for taking notes outside and surfing the internet. I really wish I could do photoshop. But Apple can't do that either. Should I return it and get an iPad or a Matebook D15 or something? 700-800 I have a dollar budget
I had to use different wallpapers because otherwise it's not easy to tell them apart. With the screen off, I kept picking up the wrong tablet thinking it's the other.
