Hope to have a review of this watch with the latest software version Harmony OS 3 from you. Because I really like this watch and am using it for daily exercise. Thanks!
This is honestly one of my favourite review channels, your depth of analysis and actual technical breakdown of the functions is incredible, please keep up the good work and I will always watch ⌚️ haha!
I have now since 4 days this watch and the heart rate accuracy is never seen before with my Garmins. Thanks for your work, was a great help for my decision.
It's nice to finally see a smartwatch on Android that can come close to the chest heart rate monitors. Your objective approach to reviewing fitness trackers is really appreciated.
Your data analyses are insane. Thanks for all the in depth info. Really helps when making purchasing decisions I.e. why buy a watch for sleep tracking/ GPS / heart rate etc. when you're only getting part of these features. Accuracy is paramount! It should be a requirement that 3rd party data like this is disclosed on products...
Thanks for your excelent review. I've had the GT Runner for about 1 week and I've done 3 workouts of 10 km each, the problem is that this distance counts 600 meters less than the other 3 training clocks. Tom Tom runner 3, Garmin 6s and Amazfit Stratos 3. Regarding the heart rate monitor compared to a cardiac chest tape in tom tone, the difference is 2 to 3 beats. Training screens can be changed to our liking. The luminosity is very good. ( Update)After update last friday the diference between the two clocks is about 70 meters in a 10km run.
Great review as always, I was really looking forward to seeing this and not disappointed at all. This looks like a great option even considering the additional (not explored in this video) specific functions and metrics for runners. Though to me it is bit hard to leave the Garmin ecosystem. Suggestion: since i really enjoy the overall comparison you do for the sleep tracking, positioning all the devices in one chart showing the goods, the bads and the uglies :D it would be very nice to have a similar chart for the other analyzed metrics as well (hr sensor accuracy, gps accuracy, ... ) It's possibly challenging to find and chart the correct parameters, i would think for instance... For the hr some sort of function of the correlation index for the 3 measured cases - indoor bike, outdoor bike and weight lifting. No idea about gos accuracy, though, but... Hey, this is YOUR job, not mine... ;) In any case... Grest that there is a RU-vidr like you, keep up the good work, and sorry for the long text review, as all Italians I tend to get overexcited about the things I enjoy
Could you do video comparison between huawei watch gt 4 vs huawei watch gt runner? or what do you recommend between the two watches. I'm into running and cycling, and want to monitor the distance and my heart rate.
Just found out your channel and I already watched most of your videos! I love your content! These are the comparisons I always dreamed of: precise, objective and scientific! Can't wait for you new tests and I hope you'll release some comparison, like the awesome chart you did for sleep accuracy. I think you could do the same with the other features, like spo2 and heart rate accuracy. Maybe also divide them for price: as far as I understood, the best ones you found are the Fitbit Charge 5 (130€), the Redmi Watch 2 Lite (60€) and the most decent among the cheap ones would be Huawei band 6. Some chart comparing the devices for each feature would be amazing, so to weigh whether they're worth the money or not. Thanks in advance whatever you'll do and keep up your amazing work! I also love how you're smiling and happy, but at the same time very objective and professional, always straight to the point! Well done, Rob.
Very comprehensive video, as always. I really like how you improved your editing with all the little icons and animations you added. This vastly improves your videos! Keep up the cool work!
Thank you. I picked up a Gt Runner for €169 on Amazon Prime Day. All your videos helped me decide well. It was a lot but you broke it down so simple. I love data driven approach. Fact over Lore! always
it would beneficial to add firmware and health app versions of current devices as of the day the experiments were conducted; sleep tracking accuracy could very well be dealed with or enhanced in the past 9 months. if you could have time revisiting already measured devices after substantial firmware&software changes it would help consumer decisions better and also give us insights about how far algorithms play a role in overall results accuracy against hardware and design features and limitations
Since GT 3 and GT Runner have the same heart rate sensors, do you think GT 3 has improved with all the firmware updates since you first tested it and matches GT Runner in this area?
Das würden sicher viele gerne wissen. Ich kann mir auch nicht vorstellen dass die drei Uhren unterschiedlich gut Messen, da derselbe Sensor verbaut ist. Wir würden uns über einen Vergleich sehr freuen :-)
Thanks for the great job 👍 One question: Scientifically, is there any health problem that could be caused by using the smartwatch 24/7? The green light, bluetooth radiation, etc? Can you mais a video about that? Thanks 💪
@@steveweinberg462 with another Smart band with silicone strap happends the same to me, it could be generally normal with silicone straps and our sudoration
Great review, based on your reviews I bought the GT3 several months ago and I am still very pleased with my purchase, thank you! What I wanted to ask you is how do you manage to get the data from the Huawei to your PC? I can't seem to be able to do that, do you use a specific app?
Hi Rob, could you please include your best Apple Watch app to this graph at 7:04 ? It would be very helpful. Most people want to see how the watch compares to Apple
Hi S F! The apple watch does not track sleep stages (just awake - asleep), only if you use an external app, so the native tracking cannot be added unfortunately. But I completely get why it would be great to have it in there😄
@@TheQuantifiedScientist Hi Rob. Yes Apple watch does not track all stages. My suggestion is to include the best app that does it and you have reviewed. For example plotting a point AppleWatch (Sleep Cycle) would be helpful. Since you already reviewed it. I strongly believe most people who watch your channel would love to know how the watch compares to Apples.
I went for a MTB ride today with my Watch GT Runner and the watch always showed the same heart rate as my Garmin 530 + Polar H10 chest strap. There was only a small delay of 1-2 seconds.
Thanks for your review, very useful to know about accuracy of heart rate monitoring, please update the review after some months, there are many firmware updates and GT runner could be improved.
At the bumps outdoor: I once had a Polar Vantage M (1) and this watch had sensors which should recognize it when the watch doesnt fit perfectly. The first Vantage M I had was exact spot on to my Polar H10 and the Apple Watch. Then I sold it for reasons and some time later I went back to it. The "new" watch was off for like 20 bpm. Every time. Sent it back, got a new one, same problem. The same for the Vantage M2 and V2. Also you got pretty less measurements. The Venu 2 had much more tests according to the dots. Sus. ^^
I like that you started to rate with stars. Do you plan to revisit certain watches? For example the Garmin Venu 2 plus was so underwhelming, I'm sure Garmin is going to put out several firmware updates to make it more accurate!
Thank you very much for the review, finally i bought this GT Runner and very happy with it, battery life's superb, gps great, and the display's just amazing, with tons of watchface. For me with my main sport is run, i think this one is a great match. Connection with 3rd party apps so far so good, i use strava and works fine.
This watch has gone through a lot of updates, could you do a survey after 2 years to compare the accuracy of the measurements today? This is very interesting in my opinion, and I am curious how much your evaluation and quality of the equipment will improve. Especially since this device can now be purchased for about $100-150.
Hi Rob! I have been really enjoying your content! The review is very detailed! Overall amazing job. One thing is that if you could add a ranking system on theses devices based on different categories to your blog. I think I would really help new buyer to decide on their purchase.
Hi Rob, good day! Excellent scientific analysis, I liked it very much. Will you be able to make the heart rate measurement comparison on the current 2023 watches? And compare it to the Huawei watch GT 4? Please
Thanx Rob - you are doing a great job!🙏😊 Can I ask you a quick question? I am struggeling to export data ( to feks a tcx-file) from the GT runner. Can you please give us a tip here?
Dear Rob I would really appreciate if you could do videos on smart scale accuracies which are plenty in the market now but finding a good one seems like needle in a haystack..
Impressive HR performance! But I don't see myself spending 300$ for just a very good HR. The watch only counts the active calories without BMI and as you mentioned it gives a headache trying to sync it with 3rd party app. Leaving Android is a deal breaker for Huawei products.
@@sdqsdq6274 the watch is totally fine. It's just the app integration with syncing with most popular fitness apps as Huawei ios and store lack all these apps. Besides google restrictions. You'll feel locked and isolated
What do you mean about counting the active calories? Do u mean it has a problem in counting calories and made mistakes when u set down, please explain what you mean by active calories
Thanks for always sharing to us Rob! I am not sure whether you know about Mi Watch S1 Active. If yes, could you please help to review it? Thank you so much!
Hey Rob, thank you very much for another great video. I have seen a lot of videos of you. Which watch is the best one overall / your favourite? Or which one has a solid result on every necessary feature? Thanks
I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I've watched almost all your videos, fascinating! Can you help me to decide between huawei gt runner, gt 3, polar ignite, polar vantage m2, and garmin forerunner? I wish you have these videos ready! I'm only concerned about their accuracy, which is why your channel is everything to me
Thanks for the analytical reviews of smart watches, I have watched several. Still not sure which way to go as features content must also be considered (though HR is my primary reason for searching.) Vielen Dank fuer die informationen!
What would you recommend for accurate fitness tracker, spo2,heart rate. It is not mandatory to attend calls on watch but I need vibrating alarm alert on watch as well
Hi Rob, Thanks for this amazing and very informative video? How are you able to upload the HR values from the watch to compute the correlation? Do you use a specific app for this to get those values, e.g., in csv format?
Hi Rob, as compared on both your video on Gt runner and hua wei band 6. It seems the sleep tracking is more accurate in huawei band 6 as compared to gt runner. Am I correct? Im figuring out whether to upgrade to GT Runner 😃
Yes, every smartwatch does that. I hade Amazfit T-Rex, Honor GS Pro, Active 2, all they count steps when I'm ride on a car, bus, driving. On the help section on Samsung Active 2, it's said the movements of arms may interfere the count step.
@@MarcoPolo82 the withings was ridiculous, clocking up 10000+ steps with a trip to the loo then a long cycle ride. Now I don't use it, just to check the heart rate on the Huawei.
Dear Rob is it possible to test the Huawei Health App. Everybody who wear a Huawei Watch GT and use their app complains that the App counts many steps when you make a bike ride The only way to count the real amount of steps on a Day, is to switch the phone off or to leave it on your desk. The reactions from Huawei when People complains about this problem make me crying.
Great video as usual. Thank you. However, it would be good to mention the play store does not carry the Huawei health app anymore that is used to configure this smartwatch.
Who really cares tho ? Installing the APK from the Huawei store takes seconds and I don't trust Google more than Huawei anyway so it's not like the play store's "filtering" was a useful indicator
@@tadejdanev5030 on adidas app you can see there the partner accounts the click and link your app… make sure you use only one email adress of all the app… also sync on my ios apple health… hope it will work on your country…👍🏽 open huawei health, open privacy management, then data sharing authorization, if you have strava and adidas app it will appear then press link…🇵🇭👍🏽👍🏽
The gr runner doesnt sell on the USA, even if you export it, you cant unlock full features without a phone number from the regions that sell the device
Very weird that they make an excellent heart rate tracker, but they fail to do so in blood oxygen measurement despite using the same sensor for it. Anyway Rob, do you really believe that Huawei GT3 and GT Runner are outperformed by Apple Watch 6/7 in terms of heart rate tracking ? Have you compared them against each other ? You quote an R value of 0.99 for spinning and ~0.9 for other exercises for Huawei GT Runner and you didn't give these numbers in your Apple Watch 7 review. And also lets keep in mind that Huawei can track heart rate 7/24 with a measurement interval of 1 minute for 8 days straight and that gives it the edge over Apple. Off topic : Community is expecting you to review Muse S gen 2 headband against Dreem2 for sleep tracking. I am sure you heard about it. Dreem2 being discontinued in the consumer market, Muse S is the only EEG device available for sleep tracking.
Hi Yıldıray! Yes, I do think that the Apple watch outperforms the GT Runner based on looking at the graphs. However, I should indeed start retrospectively quantifying all of them to make sure!
Great review, thank you for that. Can you confirm that you can pair this watch with the Polar H10 ? because i red on internet that it is impossible to pair a Polar chest strap with this watch, and it would be a quite negative point if this is true...
Hi Rob, can you tell me, What type of workout are you starting when you measure your heart rate while lifting weights. I'm asking because the watch doesn't have that type of workout and I'm a little disappointed.
Hi Rob, im considering buying a GPS watch as I am starting to become a rather ambitious runner. The GT3 is at 180€ and the GT Runner at 230€, are there noticeable differences in the quality of GPS tracking between the two of them, because some reviewers state the GT Runner has a lot better tracking, while it looks rather similar in your two reviews (after connecting to satellites). If there aren't any significant differences, I would go for the GT3! Just found out about your channel, but I really like the scientific approach, rather than just listening to the advertisements! Greetings from Germany!
Gt runner is designed for runners so that would be the better option The gt runner has better heart rate tracking too Also its GPS accuracy is quite better than gt3 because gt3 uses GPS while gt runner uses GNSS far more advanced than GPS u can search it up But if you are on a tight budget u can still opt for gt3 and get quite accurate results
gt runner gps gnss is very accurate, track perfectly the side of the street i choose for running and every point iwhen i change direction. Sometimes cut the edge on streets and make it round instead of sharp edge of 90degree or something (i think is the algorithm behind). Is almost perfect btw. Worth it over the gt3 (i also had evaluated the purchase of gt3 but at end i take the gt-runner, is very good).
@@giux900 actually i got the GT3 Runner for a great deal along with some in ear headphones and figured the GPS couldn't be that far of the GT Runner as it actually uses the same GPS Systems! Just without the new antenna design. My first impression after a 12k and a half marathon are: GPS is more accurately than the GPS of my friends iPhone 13 pro, it gets the side of the road im running at right 90% off the time and just sometimes has some offset (but very minimal, noticed whilst running alongside a canal) it gets the corner cutting too and Running ability index, recovery etc. I'm very very pleased with the watch so far, the weight also isn't a problem for me as the difference is minimal (but that comes down to personal preference I guess) I like the design over the GT Runner and the band is very comfortable as well. So it's been a great time so far but thanks for your advice and keep pushing💪🏼🙏🏻
@@Moerten2001 yes exactly, gt3 and gt-runner are almost identical (gt3 has plus skin temperature, other sensor are the same), thats why i was also evaluating to buy gt3. Are very few differences, antenna design, few grams of weight and minor aesthetic differences. I'm not sure i think they share the same firmware also. I'm using gt-runner for around 10days, and is very good for sports and running. cool
I am interested in a watch/bracelet that can monitor my heartbeat but also I need it to have a microphone. Can you recommend something? I'm not interested in being new generation and also I am not a runner. Can you rank some for me please?
Hi, can anyone teel me if it's possible to import a track and navigate it? I have the previous watch. You can export a track but not import it. The watch already has the necessary hardware and even the "Route Back" function. With a little bit of software enhancement, we should be able to navigate from a point to another. Is it available in this new version? Thanks.
Hopefully fit bit/Google watch on wear os 3 will give Apple watch a run for it's money. I'm still using the galaxy watch 4 and it's been updated again for better sleep tracking, so maybe do a refresher?
Ordered my Galaxy Watch 4 from Amazon Germany but only received a torn, empty envelope 😢 How do you find the heart rate tracking for interval training? Is it better now than on release?
Hi Weekend Warrior! I could indeed make some updates at some point, but unfortunately my time is limited, so I cannot make any promises ;-) . And, yes, excited about a new google/fitbit release😊
Hi Bill! Indeed, I made some videos about this, but sleep cycle seems to be generally the most informative as Luke mentions. Overall I think the apps still lag behind some of the better sleep trackers (e.g. fitbit, whoop), but hopefully they will improve over time😊
