I don't say this a lot, hardly ever in fact, but I really enjoyed your review. Clear, concise, coherent, courteous, credible and above all, creative. It has helped immensely in my understanding of this device. Much easier on the ears and eyes than the ubiquitous superficial American review, that is mainly about showing off camera angles, transitions etc. Cheers mate!
I have one for about a month now and I'm very happy with it. Battery life is amazing. I use it only when I exercise and after a month I still have over 20% of battery power left.

You can set reminders and alarms, yeah. But if you want these reminders to be more specific - then better get a smartwatch with smarter OS - like TicWatch devices.
Thank you for the review, really amazing. For me, my favorite features: 1. high-end looking; 2. phone call function; 3. music function; For exercise, as I have the mi-band I would prefer to use it as it is lighter, and will not be concerned to break it accidentally during the workout. However beside the functions of phone call and music, GT2 doesn't really have other features that are outstanding compared to nowadays fitness bands(which are more suitable for exercise cus of their lightness), and it compatibility with smartphones really forces you to buy a Huawei phone...
It actually works fine with any kind of phones; I have never used a Huawei phone as a primary one for more than a week and use the WatchGT2 with Oneplus and Mi devices without problems. Which is your favorite Mi Band?
Gt1 - Smart watch on steroids. Well explained. My Gt1 last for 10days on full mode. Gt2 looks very elegant, premium n most of all… music storage! So envy of you having Gt2 n seeing you enjoyed it alot. Keep it up with the amazing review =)

This watch is awesome. I have been using it for over 6 months and im rly happy with it. Battery lasts for like 10-14 days with only one charge. Speakers and mic are awesome and u can hear clearly everything.
Going from pebble time to amazfit pace to huawei GT2 and this watch tick ALL of the boxes. And I was considering all options available for last 6 months.

I have found in 2 local stores in my town the watch but the one says fluoroelastomer in the end at its name. They have the same price because there are at offer but the one with the fluoroelastomer is 50 euros more expensive. So there are at the same price. I really like the health tracking on this watch with the batrery life. I don't mind that it is running Hauwei own OS but I just wish the notification centre was more like Wear OS or even Tizen. I also want smart features and although this can do phone calls on your wrist I need to reply to texts with my voice as well and need NFC. Those are two things I would miss from my Fossil Gen 5. But I really need health tracking... sigh... no perfect watch yet.
I was in the same shoes, having the Gen5, but eventually I made the switch to GT2. However for me it was an easier decision, cause the NFC was useless for me - GPay works fine on my phone, but Google decided to make it unavailable on the watch (only a few countries available, mine was not one of them). Voice typing was "kind of" useless, too as I had to reply in multiple languages (English, Czech, Hungarian), but could not have it set to multiple languages, like on my phone. Battery Life was "meh" at best (30 hours) and that's with almost everything turned off (except BT). Tough the quick charge function of the watch was amazing and worth mentioning - 0-90% in 43 minutes for me (not like the lousy, almost 3 hrs charge on the Galaxy Watch). To be honest, the only things I miss from WearOS are Google Keep (lists for shopping) and StoCard.
@@majorskies7091 it was and because people complained it should be enabled if you give it a firmware update. And you have to add your card to Google pay every card should work.
@@TechMishka yeah when I asked the sales guy in the store why so low priced and "what's the catch" he told me because their sales had been very low of late because of the pandemic. They had the GT2 and GT both for like 30% off as well as the smaller GT 2 models that look like they are sized for females. I'm glad I ran into the deal. 😊

Hey man! Thanks for the amazing review. Do you think it's worth 120$ now in 2021? I found it looks slick af. But my other question is if the scratches make the black steel look a bit awkward or is the paint deep enough to keep it looking fresh after a few years? Note: GT2 will still get Harmony OS according to the latest list they've released, and that also means it'll have third party app support and possibly so much more.
Hey Kane, thanks for the question! I no longer have the watch with me and have used the MagicWatch 2 for longer time (it's essentially the same). I didn't manage to add deep scratches and generally - this watch has terrific build quality. If you like the features - $120 is a great price! As for Harmony OS - looking at how it all happens - we may have to wait. But even like that - there are some extra apps you can install from the Huawei Health app.
I have this watch and I got to say it is great. Worth every penny of those 100 euro I payed for it. I tell you 1 thing and you will take it: battery life 1 ,5 weeks...😮
Good day, Thanks for the video review. Great stuff. I have 1 question, I rely a lot on the phone call notification due to the soft sound of the phone nowadays. Does it works well for Huawei GT 2? I loved the amazfit stratos which work like wonders. However when I got Amazfit GTR 3, the phone call notification comes 20s late. It is frustrating.
@@TechMishka i read about it online. apparently some users experiencing the same. I've tried different setting on phone, bluetooth, DND and notifcations settings. I gave up. Recently there is some promo for Huawei GT 2, ya i know it is a 2 years old model. But for USD 80, I think it is a great bargain. At first i struggle to get the app to work, because it could not reach the T&C page for me to click yes to proceed, uninstall and reinstall and finally it work and able to pair with Huawei GT 2. One of the biggest concern is the app update is via Huawei AppGallery which my phone is unable to install from unknown sources. I saw Huawei Health app last update in Google PlayStore is 2 years ago. However firmware update for the watch is still able to be pushed from the app which is still ok.
I wish there was a smartwatch without the fitness apps at all. I don't care about the heart beat sensor either. I just want a smartwatch that has good capabilities regarding reading messages and weather, tons of customable faces, and several remote possibilities. Nowadays, every watch is heavily focused on fitness and there's no way to skip these apps if you don't use these.

Hi Michael, did you have already the chance to test the Stratos 3 and do you have a direct comparison between both watches? I've owned the Stratos 2, gave it to my father and waited patiently for the Stratos 3 to arrive. I was so disappointed with the third edition, so I gave it back and took the Galaxy Watch, which I think is a step back with the tracker functions. It is not as good as the Stratos 2 and even 3. And it doesn't have a compass and GPS-positioning out of the box. The steps are not counted properly due to the lack of 3- or 6-axis accelerometer. So, probably I go for the Watch GT2 and give back the Galaxy Watch, but how's the interaction of GT2 with the iOS Health app? The Stratos 3 interacts surprisingly good with the iOS Amazfit app, what I can't say for the Android version of it.
Ajaja Lambo Yes, it‘s true. I know that Michael had the Stratos 2 as I and this one was his favorite for long and is really good in terms of tracking, general outlook and connectivity. GT2 is really good and more expensive too. Stratos 3 is a step back definitely from its predecessor.

Actually getting 2 and the look is part of why I like it. Apple somehow still make the most sophisticated products and the ones which make you want them. And I have had my fair share of androids.

i suppose if i want a watch that lasts about 1 to 2 days, ill stick an elastic band around my phone to my wrist. but i think id rather a longer battery like this. lol
They were loaded from the smartphone app. If you are using iPhone, could be the case that you don't see all of them. Connect it to Android device and you will be able to use them.
I’ll Keep My Galaxy Watch at least I can Answer texts many different ways including voice to text which is excellent. I like answering the calls on the Samsung too. Very Clear and no issues at all when I enter my cars Bluetooth done in the back ground and fast.

За тези пари май няма конкуренция, но честно казано след 3 седмици, някои неща започват да ме дразнят. Не мисля, че слийп тракинга е много точен, защото абсолютно всяка вечер сплита в проценти ми е почти идентичен :) . Сменихме си часовниците с моята приятелка (тя си взе самсунг галакси). Като допреди това самсунгът и даваше 15 минути дийп слип (също супер съмнително), но изведнъж с моя часовник, избухна на 2 часа :) (горе долу колкото ми дава и на мен средно на вечер). Също, доста ме дразни, че няма повече костюмизиране на режимите на тичане и дори тези от типа на темпо рън, които са разделени на 3 части на часовника, после в ап-а се омешват като един цял рън и нямаш отделни статове за различните части на упражнинието. Като цяло, софтуерно доста издиша според мен... но засега толкова като за първи часовник:) , като се надъхам повече ще жертвам пари за гармин феникс :) .
Ползвам основно GT2. Не съм следил изкъсо deep sleep - възможно е да го мери понякога неправилно. СЪвсем нормално е да има разлики в отчитането при различни производители, но това си е доста драстично. Дано скоро да измислят някакви стандартизации.
''It looks amazing'' I don't care how they look, i care how they work. Sorry but i don't get it... WHY.. Why on Earth they didn't use in a watch e-ink display! Yes, Amoled is good for phones and bigger screen, but under the sun and small displays, is more important visibility rather sharpness. The more the light the brighter the e-ink display is becoming. I am tired of those advertising Bullshit about how ''shining'' and ''neat'' something have to look. Give as a real TOOL with practical approach and under the sun visibility!
E ink display is not expensive, its the opposite. Many cheap to midrange watch use them. I have in the past Garmin 235 with e-ink but many other cheaper use it.
Hi! I need some advice! I need a watch for swimming and was looking at the garmin swim 2. But I have a huawei phone and read there were some connectivity issues. I am not a professional nor amateur swimmer, I just train for myself but I might want to go for triathlon in the future. So I was thinking a normal smart watch might be a better thing to get, especially when looking at the current price for the GT 2 and garmin swim 2 compared! What do you recommend??
The GT2 is great for measuring basic sports activities. Garmin watches are all fantastic when it comes to measuring sports. I have mostly impressions from the Fenix 5 and 6 - and they are superb; Generally - I'd recommend thinking about a watch that can be mainly controlled via buttons; Because touchscreens and water don't come along.
@@TechMishka have you tested it in the pool? Another review I read the guy said it was great as you would use the buttons on the side and not the touch screen.

I just want the watch for the basic fitness tracking, notifications, sleep tracking, time. Can people tell me their experiences of the above also what is the app like? If you have Apple iPhone - then the app is not great and it will have some limitations (less watchfaces, no SPO2 data, etc) If you have Android - then great. It is a very accurate smartwatch.
They are quite a few: running (road, trail, and treadmill), walking, hiking, cycling, and swimming (pool or open water), as well as gym machines and free-weight training
What about the currentl situation between huawei and google. Is it easy enough to download the huawei app gallery in order to get the updated versions of the HMS and health apps? The watch itself seems pretty rad and way cheaper than the competition.
With the Huawei Watch GT2 there is not much ram - 32MB only, and around 2GB storage for music files only. The Galaxy watches are way smarter and you can add some more apps.
I bought this watch last week, to find it wasn't working. After a discussion with their support team it was revealed that it does not work on tattoos nor on dark skinned people. Meanwhile Apple and Samsung recently changed their watches to tackle this age old issue with the sensors. It is a shame, because it was an extremely comfortable watch, I loved the list of features, the look and the price point. But unfortunately, the sensor tech is behind it's competitors.
@@TechMishka I have an email confirming the tattoo part, as for the dark skinned part - that was from a telephone conversation. They openly admit to it though, so you can easily call them to confirm. When I googled up on it, it seems to be a very common issue for most of these devices, and only recently have a couple spent effort on the issue. From what little information I could gather, the actual sensor itself works, however they have another sensor to detect if it's against your skin or not, which does not work on tattoos or darker skin tones.
Does it have realistic measurements for the distance you run? For example if you run 1 km will it show 1 km? Because i have a smartwatch that when i run 1.5 km it would show me 800 meters. Thank you.
@@TechMishka EKC, even more fitness dedication, smooth beautiful OS that pairs perfectly with a Samsung phone, i could go on and on about what Huawei doesn't have
@@Thisfutureman for me it's a deal breaker. I use my phone for contactless payments more than my card or cash. Plus it's 2019 and NFC isn't new tech. Most smart watches have it so you would expect it as a baseline feature.
@@TechMishka thank you. Already got the Huawei. Great watch and even greater looks. Only problem is notifications are lackluster compared to GW as well as auto workout detection is a bit iffy here... I hope there are improvements coming with upgrades
@@TechMishka always on display, its extremely integrated with my s10+, unlimited customization, solid, lightweight, durable and modern design. I can remote control my camera from my watch and of course the insane focus on health and fitness tracking. Plus the display is a beautiful lil oled display with sharp color.
@@TechMishka theres more but i honestly dont have the time and ive also only had it for less than a week. But i absolutely love everything about it so far
