Yeah theres some pretty crazy events. Ive played for a decade and just now got an event that triggered a golden age when someone dow'ed on me.

Wtf where's this for me when two bastards attack me in a future game with events ??? Wait until you see a little poor pacal who lost 2 cities to barbs, had the barb uprising event, two slave revolts and got bullied by other civs then had a holy war against him. Glad that isn't me when I play with events

hmm? I always have quick moves on but I put slow combat on for funsies in the early game.

It might be possible to learn what criteria are required for the best events and play in a way that increases your chances of getting one. Probably a lower level strategy but perhaps fun.

You don't need to maintain any military on this kind of map though untill like 1000 AD on immortal. No way anyone gonna land any forces on your island before then. Only issue early is barbs and with inca that's a non-issue really. This is acually one of the more friendly variations of always war. Specially since the AI still fight eachother and tech trade is not on. While they pump up troops you can just simply tech and focus on building up your empire. Sure, there is still an issue when you're gonna land on their island. But unless there have become a real monster over there I see this as one of the easier AW despite not being able to slow down opponents early on.

I think you are both incorrect, It is entirely map dependent and civ dependent like any isolation map; if they're split up into smaller continents it will be much easier but if they're all on a Pangaea together and like each other then you are in for a very rough time. you are landing with very limited troops and reinforcements into a frenzy of 6 AI the moment you take a city all their armies will be incoming. Also it can be quite harder due to having a very limited amount of land and resources in isolation, sometimes zero or only 1 luxury! (fortunately we got a very rich continent but its rarely like this). you could be stuck with 4 health resources and 1 luxury and your cities are capped at size 8. You don't have a weak neighbour that you crippled to run over and take their territory easily and have 12-15 cities of land + resources, until very late game when you finally make a landing. Where it IS easier is the AI are awful at naval invasions and awful with air units, so if you can get to flight and build tons of planes you can take out all their ships cost efficiently and control the seas and skies, being safe from invasions. The Immortal AI are lucky to have optics before 800AD~ without TT on, astronomy not until 1200-1500AD.

A few nice good events but yeah the barb uprising and slave revolt really make them worse on average

i dont play with events enough to know them all and honestly they are pretty self explanatory

he got a busy professional job, a partner and generally lost interest in the game.

Nah barbs will kill workers and sometimes pillage improvements along the way

​@@henrik9658 I'm not sure, but I think he meant the barbs of the event will do that.
