An absolutely brilliant day. Great to meet you and the Hubnut family. I even got to show JayEmm around my car. Nice to see some bonus 4WS action too. Tough to pick a favorite car of the day ... for me it has to be the Freelander with the 'wood' panelling. Shouldn't work but it actually does (for me anyway). Can't wait for the next social, thanks for organising a great event.

I need to see Brooklands for myself, and also attend a Hubnut social if they ever come up north. They both sound like excellent days out.

Nice to see my old kitten is still about. Owned that Kitten back in the mid to late 80's when it was originally white. Some interesting cars & the 4 wheel steer taxi was impressive as never seen that before.

Thanks Ian for a great day out, and for featuring my Avi. It was nice to put the Espace and and the Avantime together for the 'First and Last' picture. Certainly lots of cars there that are on my 'wish I could own' bucket list, and many 'normal' cars that you don't see on the roads any more. Apart from the Espace the highlights were the well looked after Citroens (GS, 2CV, Dyane and C15) along with the P6 Rover, not forgetting Betty.

Marvellous event, thank you ever so much indeed for the invitation! Great to speak to you again in person, Ian.

VIP must stand for Very Impressive Panda in that context. I love the fact you can see a BMW i3 parked next to a Trabant and 2 totally different demonstrations of 4 wheel steering.

That was a nice turnout. I was surprised to see a Toyota Previa. I used to own 2 of them. Fantastic family vehicles. The later ones came supercharged and all wheel drive. Great acceleration and handling. The best part was the amount of room inside. It could not be beat. That would be a nice video.

At 4:42 it’s actually a Vanden Plas 1500 .. VP Princess was a different car. My dad had a 1500 when I was a wee nipper in Bronze Metallic with tan leather. I remember that as my mode of transport to and from school and sliding around on the leather back seat lol

That looks as much fun as the one on the 14th at The Motorist, there was an Accord Aerodeck at that Social too in very nice shade of red. The car of the show for me was the Opel Monza, they're a beautiful car IMO.

Awesome video, the Mazda at the end brought back memories, I had the GT 4WD version but without 4WS

I've driven a Viano of the same type as that Vito, and the turning circle's pretty good in the first place - it must be insanely small after added that rear-wheel steering! Incidentally, I drove past the crash site on the exit of the Carholme roundabout on Lincoln bypass today, and someone's planted a little England flag in the middle of it.

Ha, I like that you pointed out my Twingo's silly wipers. And yes, you always end up with a dribble down the window. It also has the added benefit that you have to take the wipers off, and all the plastic surround, anytime you need to do work on the front suspension. It's also got auto wipers that sometimes seem to do there own thing. That said, I'm only its second proper owner* (it's first owner was a motorway cop of all things. He only sold it as he was moving to Australia). I've had it for just over 8 1/2 years, its got 101,000 miles on it (about 70,000 miles with me) and I don't think I'll ever sell it. It's a Twingo GT. Its an 1149cc intercooled turbo petrol. Single cam, 16v ( Y shaped rocker arms, it pushes down 2 valves together, old school tappets too that you have to adjust yourself), iron block, but with sodium filled valves, piston cooling oil jets and an oil to water heat exchanger. A weird mix of an old basic economy engine design from the early 90's, with lots of fancy bits added to it to by Renault to boost power. The Twingo GT came out before the Twingo RS, but they have seem to have become a bit forgotten about. (The GT ran from 07 to 10, The RS ran from 08 to 13). (*Renault pre-registered it, they owned it for its first month of life. It's still got its original Renault Sutton Park Group plates on it, even though it only spent a month in Birmingham, the rest of it life has been in Surrey and Sussex.)

One of the most chilled car meet ups I've been to. Great cars and met a friendly gang with a common interest, , well done Ian and the Hubnut family, pleasure to meet you at last.

Now you need someone to show up in a Honda Prelude 4 wheel steer and a Chevrolet Silverado 4 wheel steer 😁 I used to detest driving my wife's Accord Wagon on account of the horrendously large turning radius...and I have noticed the same problem on lots of other Hondas. It's a shame that Honda's 4 wheel steering system never took off...

Hubnut is many things but mainly it is a love of all things automotive.

I had one of those 205 diesels, couldn't get up to motorway speed from an on ramp - even if it was going downhill !!!

Like a car park walk around in 2001 :) This for me beats Pebble Beach. PB is more like going to an art gallery. This is more about the memories

C15, great vans, had a 2006 one from new and loved every mile for the next nine years. Citroen fixed centre steering wheel...love it in our C4 Picasso, very odd at first, but soon seems so normal. Looks like you had a great day, well done to all.

How wonderful it is that the video of the organiser almost comes late to the party, having seen the other videos about the same event already. 😂 I am genuinely touched by the friendly atmosphere of these events. It's a bit difficult for me to visit but if I could, I definitely would.

I was so disappointed that I couldn't make it there, had my ticket and was set to go only to discover a split in my car tyre and didn't feel safe enough to risk it.

Thanks for putting on a fantastic event again Ian, met lots of good folk! Sadly the Accord Coupe didn't make it home and is possibly looking at some major work before it's back on the road again :(

Ford Escort Mk II Ghia in champagne was my family's second car. Our other car was a Cortina from the same era I suppose the Vanden Plan Princess was our equivalent of our Cadillac Cimarron here in the US. I'm surprised to see a botched paint on a Lexus, that is a GM trademark

The factory that used to build the trabant now builds the ID3 and ID4.

I had what looked like the same manifold on a v8 converted MGB I bought the dashpot tops of the carbs just touched the inside of the bonnet and wore the paint away....but induction roar from those KN's meant no need for a radio

Plus my two favorite planes: Concorde and VC-10. Bliss.

Well, that was awesome! Me thinks you should do real road tests of quite a few of the cars participating; Avantime, Mazda 626 4WS (loved that generation of 626 - looks so sleek), Honda Accord coupe, that lovely Espace, the Riley, the BMW i3 ( so fun to drive - love them!), the Trabbi - the list goes on and on!

Why didn’t I know Hubnut was going to be here, I’m a member so that’s on me, missed you at Retro Rides Goodwood too!

I'm so sorry to have missed this meet. I had the choice of the damned to make at the weekend, do I go to Hub Nut or do I take a turn Driving a Steam Locomotive for the day. Sorry Ian but the Steam Loco won. I hope you understand, it's only the first Drive I've had in two years and felt that I really could not pass up. Having seen this I'm now totally devastated as you had Betty there! Looks like you had all of the good times. Thanks for posting.
