This song was written by Simone together with her friend and vocal coach Amanda Somerville as a dedication to Mark's grandmother after she passed away, The musical composition is just perfect, so beautiful

This song is taken from Epica's 4th album, Design Your Universe released in 2009. This album featured drummer Arien as a permanent member of Epica on the previous one he was hired as a session drummer after the departure of their first drummer Jeroen. It was also Isaac's first album with Epica as a replacement for guitar player Ad who persued another career as a math teacher. Design Your Universe brought Epica a bigger audience, more countries to tour, more album sales etc. Some call it Epica's worldwide breakthrough album. In 2019 an anniversary gold edition was released with extra acoustic bonus tracks of the album. Tides of time is one of those incredible Epica ballads that show the diversity of this band. Never a dull moment with Epica.

Did it again.. this song is always better then you actually remember it when you listen to it again somehow.. its a beautiful melody, Simone is just naling it, with emotion, and stunning voice, the lyrics is very easy to understand.. man it a song that can hit hard, and give the message that you keep your loved lost ones in your mind and heart, but have to accept the tides of time, and move on, because that is what happens in life, and there is a meaning to it.. a beautiful ode to the ones you loved and lost.. we all do know this message, and know thats the thing to do, , but getting the message served on a silver plate, so beautiful, just hits harder, then if you just process the message in your mind alone..

This is my favourite song of all time. I love other bands and artists... Nightwish, VoicePlay, MiracleOfSound, and others... but Epica is on a whole new level. They don't have a bad song, but Tides of Time is just... something else. I love metal ballads and all Epica ballads are masterpieces... Rivers, Once Upon a Nightmare, Twin Flames, Delirium and many others... But Tides of Time are just perfect to me. I can't describe it.

I couldn't make it to the premiere (of my own request) due to birthday preparations for my youngest daughter, but I just watched your reaction. Thank you so much for this reaction video, I watched the video with tears in my eyes. ❤ This song is indeed very special to me. My mom died suddenly due a cardiac arrest on July 28, 2022 at the age of 67. My mom was a big metal fan just like me and one of her favorite bands was Epica, so I chose this song as one of the songs to play during her funeral. Since that day I can't listen to this song without crying, but I'm very thankful for this sweet video. Again thank you guys, love you too! ❤🫂

Love and best wishes from Scotland. It isnt easy when we lose a loved one. But your choice of song was perfect. Just watching this reaction I was in tears myself. Epicas music always give me major feels, especially the beautiful ballads.

Such a beautiful song and so emotional. Written as a tribute to Mark's maternal grandmother. She was a big supporter of the band, letting them practice in her basement I think, and always encouraging them so it was big loss for the band when she passed. Just discovered a lovely acoustic version from Pinkpop in 2010 in an intimate setting. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ERQmengyF1I.html. Link is for the whole 20 minute set but Tides of Time is the first song. Marcela Bovio also does a lovely acoustic version with Epica's keyboardist Coen. Very nice reaction to a beautiful song. Goddess Simone sounds and looks amazing. Deep lyrics and wonderful melody. Epica is such an incredible band! Please, do one more ballad, with purely orchestral sound: EPICA - Safeguard to Paradise (lyrics by bhaimovich123) It's one of the most beautiful ballads I've ever heard from any band. It's from 2007, so it's one album earlier than Tides of Time. Simone's young voice and again, very deep lyrics! You won't be disappointed.

Ridiculous vocals from Simone here, one of her best works This is from Design Your Universe, 4th studio album, already with Isaac in the band who changed the sound a good deal, but Rob would not be joining untill next album
