Huge 49ers Update: Brock Purdy MRI, Christian McCaffrey to Germany, replacing Javon Hargrave Check out 49ers coverage on SF Standard: sfstandard.com... David Lombardi covers the 49ers for The Athletic.
All the critics said Purdy was not as good, because he was surrounded by super stars! Purdy has no superstars and is still performing at a high level. 6of 8 incompletions were dropped balls; he would have been 28 of 30. They just need other receivers to catch besides JJ. Cut Bell and give Cowling a shot, he can’t do worse than Bell. With his speed especially in the first five yards he should get separation. I think the play calling this year is not as good as last year!
Of all the HOF QBs who've played on top tier teams over the decades, none in their first 2 years in the league ever had a 105 or higher average passer rating, or an 80% or higher regular season win rate, or had 4 or more playoff wins. Purdy is the first QB to do this, and he did all 3, while playing behind an OL with a below average PFF ranking. What we're seeing so far this year is only a surprise to the critics who pretend to be experts.
I think CMC likely has tendinosis now. I had it in both my Achille's tendons from being a distance runner for years. This was a diagnosis given to me by a sports doctor, and wasn't self-diagnosed. It took me over a year to heal due to my age and the fact that it's impossible to rest this type of injury short of a wheelchair. I really hope I'm either wrong, or that they have better treatments now.
Would explain why it looks like his calf/achilles looks bigger than previously... it stands out kore than when he came to the team even. find images and you'll see it looks more defined recently. which could be due to the thickening of the tendon from tendinosis which also comes with a decrease in its strength. Not good
McCaffery should have gone to Europe months ago. In my experience with Achilles tendinopathy or tendonitis as we call it here in the states Dr's in the US just aren't as good at rehabbing and helping with it. I got better information from Dr's online based out of Germany and Australia than I did from my physical therapist in person in the states. Mine was insertional tendinopathy or tendonitis so I'm hoping his is further up the achilles because it takes FOREVER to heal.
I have been dealing with exactly the same thing these past 4 months and can verify what you say. SLOWLY improving, but can't even go for 1 mile walk without getting set back.
I think if Salah had stayed he’d helped win a Trophy, or Ryan’s , I didn’t like last years coach from game one and this year’s insider was a Kyle and John cop out… this years relies on that decision and it’s a bad one…
@@maurice1290 yup… but he was also a bad choice… Kyle and John want the Seattle D but he didn’t utilize that, so they thought he could ‘adapt’ wrong choice… but the offense was so good they played into the superbowl where that defense lost the game.
We’ve had too many defensive coordinators over the last 5-6 years. Hard to get consistency with so much turnover. And special teams has been bad for a while. Gotta sort that out, lost us the SB last year
The 49ers seem to be in survival mode, and it's clear that the major concerns lie with the coaching staff, particularly the defensive coordinator and his assistants, who appear to have steered the team onto a losing trajectory. While the first game's outcome was on the players, subsequent performances point to the coaching staff. The question arises: are the 49ers at risk of dropping out of the Super Bowl contention? In my opinion, if they continue with Nick S. and his team, along with Staley's lack of distinctive contributions, this team is likely to end up last in their division and miss the playoffs entirely. As a sidenote, David, you've chosen the perfect location-Brooklyn. Excellent work as always. Stay safe.
Anyway you look at it they were due to have a rough season That’s why I’m not even stressing they probably won’t make the playoffs this year (which is fine) let Seattle take the helm this year sometimes you have to have a bad season to readjust things in the offseason
If we had improved the OL like all of us were saying back in April ( more than just Puni) poor Brock would not be running for his life back there. Niners do some good things and they completely screw up others. Should have replaced McKivitz along with Puni. We're not going to get better if we keep guys like Bell & Willis & McKivitz around let's face it!
according to Dr. David Chao, Germany allows PRP methods that aren't allowed here. He also said this probably means he's gonna need a boot, so probably more than the four games.
In my opinion, we are seeing a 49er offense that is shifting away from Purdy conforming into it the offense to the offense having to conform to Purdy. When the key players return, the offense will be very different. They will have to adjust to Purdy’s style of play.
David....CMC.... plz look into and point out the force of foot pounds he uses every crushing run with cutting against defenders all at the Achillies / heel point of impact on the turf.... can that force be 1000 pounds on the Achillies?
Great information, Bad luck and bad defense. Arrogant head coach all of that equals maybe we get playoff wildcard this year and out after week 1 of playoffs.
I know it’s week 4. Not saying I’m panicking, but when should we panic about our run defense and/or secondary? My feed is full of panic. I’m giving Sorensen time.
Get ready 9er fans, we'll be lucky if we go 9-8 with a wild card. If things go REALLY south, we're looking at 13 losses. Just gonna be a down year. Get a high draft pick, draft o lineman, be back next year.
Let's tank this year, top 5 pick for the best O-lineman,round two, best available cover corner. Time to spend on these positions, too. Can't take the time to develop backup level players over 4 years with mixed results, while the core team is aging away, Once in a while, you gotta go for instant improvement.
don’t know how the Niners dig out of this hole. There were two seasons in the recent past, where they were able to turn things around after getting off to bad starts, but those teams were healthier and had better defenses than what this team has. That’s the difference.
I would say both The defensive coach is basically learning the 9ers defense on the fly while adding in his own mix of plays and it probably doesn’t help that he was in the AFC for the past couple of years so he’s used to seeing the defenses from AFC teams And the players they probably have to adjust from year to year since their defensive coordinators have all went elsewhere to become head coach’s (Robert, DeMeco) I want to say Mike McDaniel but I think he was part of the offensive side of things Eventually this was bound to happen, that’s why I’m not even worried about it they were due for a rough season
Concerning news about cmc seems like that injury is not getting better. Knowing someone personally that has the same condition and it never gets better.
I see this SF team as one that struggles with prosperity but thrives in adversity. This situation could be right in their wheelhouse. last season was pretty much a cakewalk all the way through securing home field advantage been given the class treatment all the way through the year as the favorites for everything including the superbowl never being in a position to need to prove themselves as a team to media or general public. this could be good medicine for this team to overcome some adversity and challenges while its early. nothing inspires more than someone doubting your abilities as a team to rise to the moment. they haven't had the opportunity in a long time to prove the public wrong about them.
It is obvious that the defense would suffer as they are have a new defensive coordinator after losing Saleh and Ryans the past two years. Shanahan needs to step up as coach and get invovled with developing a better defense. The offense when healthy can cover the defense. The offense this year is not doing it due to injuries. Aiyuk needs to step after his contract extension. No one ever stop Jerry Rice. Shanahan needs to design plays for him to get single coverage so he use his athleticism to move the chains.
In regards to Hardgrave in my mind its like what the Jets said about Haason Reddick, you can miss what you never had. Guy was M.I.A since we signed him. He had a single good game I would outside of that hes done nothing. Hes basically Soloman Thomas but without the rookie contract.
Plus the SuperBowl hangover I know I’ve heard the same thing from “fans” who said “the Madden curse ain’t real it’s all bullshit” Like I’ve told them there’s multilayers to the Madden curse it doesn’t affect just one player it can affect the whole team (Brandon decides to hold out the entire training camp process, Ricky gets shot trying to stop someone stealing from him, Trent decides to hold out if he’s not paid, CMC gets tendinitis in his ankle and is out, Jovon is now out for the season, Purdy has an MRI on his back) Sure seems like the curse is real
Exactly why teams don't get back to the SB back to back. I would not be shocked if they missed the playoffs. Only good news is that is not that really a dominant scary team in the West. Seattle can very well win it, if the 49ers can't beat up Rams team. Personally I think Kyle needs a total new staff on D. They just have way too much talent to be where they are. I want them to go out and get someone like Karl Dunbar from the stealers to run the D. Stealers just have a different way and they always seem to be good on D,.
After all he did on Sunday these network morons said “he had a good game” or completely skipped over it all together. This is just asinine at this point. He’s a top 3 QB. Jennings had an incredible day. Purdy was just as much a part of that looking off defenders and putting the ball where only Jennings could get it.
God damn theres a lot of professional coaches in these comments. Yall just have all the answers dont you? why dont yall go get jobs in the nfl. They pay very well. And with all your knowledge you could win a ring your first year
That’s the same thing i always tell the know it alls “it sounds like you want to be coach well go tell the 49ers you want to coach and maybe they’ll hire you cause after all you know everything put your money where your mouth is” After I say that they have no response
Toradol, heat, and some message therapy and Purdy will be fine. The first priority for the 9ers defense is to tell Brandon Staley to stay home and away from their defense.
Blessing in disguise we need to discover uprising players. Niners season is over and season barely started. And stop holding on high paying injury prone players.
I am reminded of the line from that Dirty Harry movie that said " a man's got to know his limitaitons" about Kyle Shanahan!! WHY is he getting OUTCOACHED when he's AHEAD with less than 10 minutes LEFT in the games!?!
can they get out of the hargraves contract if he is not up to par? Time to put a bigger body to clog the middle with evan anderson? And, is this mmore of sorensen and staley not syncing?
Stopping the run is a mindset, they look checked out and disinterested in this season after that SB loss dudes got paid and act like they are super bowl champs because they got paid.
the defense is so trash rn its crazy. we need to start either Flann-Fowles or Dee Winters instead of Campbell. They need Mooney following the best WR around, thats what he does. Probly start Renardo Green or Ya-Sin instead of Yiadom and quit running zone every single god damn play bro
Germany is the number one country for achilles tendon treatments followed by Switzerland, South Korea, Thailand, India, and Mexico..America is far down the list..Purdy played great but missed a wide open aiyuk for a score that would have won it...He's good but not yet elite..
Brock is good, but we wouldn’t be one and two if that was the case McKivitz and Brendel are garbage. The defense is terrible. Special teams is garbage. Brocks got talent, but it ain’t gonna save this team.
Kyle, Brock had soreness. Kyle, Brock required a MRI Kyle, Brock is working with the Avengers to gather the infinity stones to fix his back Kyle, Brock is out 2 weeks to 17 weeks
No championship this year. Just a bunch of old fat guys going through the motions! Although unlikely to pull together defense and special teams much less o-line, I would be first in line to congratulate the coaches. Right now! Shame! Shame!
Quit with Purdy..... he has a losing record 1-2. Sign DJ Jones!!! cut Campbell, sign Jaylen Delo off Tampas practice squad, he's fast at the WILL!!! Play Bethune Mike, Fred at SAM!!! Play Green, and Rok and Luder!!! CMC is done get over him until next year.....Good one Christian McCovery..LOL
