I remember setting up my 83" A90J with my two daughters, and I was crazy nervous. At one point while putting it on the stand, she almost lost her grip, so I hurried up to put my side on, then ran over to assist her. After that, then I had to endure the 1 hour set up. But in the end, it was well worth it. Glad I opted for the A90J instead of the A80J or C1. Thanks Brian/Whisper/FOMO/TechnoDad/Valley Electronics for your reviews leading up to my purchase.

Are you using the advanced settings by Dnice(avs) to raise the gain in the service menu to raise the brightness on the new Sony tvs?

@@rayhjr3577 It's not about the nits. Nits are relative. It's about how the XR processor and XR contrast highlight details operate. I could put both a 800 nit A90J next to a 900 nit A90J and you'd never see a difference.

We've had ours for a few weeks. I had to do a factory reset on day 5, Netflix kept crashing after 10 minutes or so. It fixed the problem. However, after troubleshooting the Netflix issue I discovered there's only a 100M nic for wired network (WTF?) I went with the Sanos Tilt for wall mount. Very happy with the TV. A huge upgrade from what we had. Watched all your vids (all the TV tech reviewers too) Keep making vids sir. Thanks

Putting the feet on the tv is done correctly while the tv is standing upright in the box. Sony have done this for a while. Check it out in the easy setup guide that Sony include in the box. Could have been so much easier. Looks very awkward the way you have done it.

Good to see you take TLC on this beauty. I first opened the top and removed the legs and plastic bag with the remote, then resealed the box with a few straps of clear tape. My wife an I then turned it up side down (box standing by itself) & we opened the bottom and remove the cardboard from the base. The TV was still below and inside the box (like it should be) so I cut away the cardboard where the legs are mounted on each end of the box. Installed the legs while TV still upright and in the box. Then... ever so gently we lowered the box and lifted it upright so it was setting on it's legs. So the legs would not have too much pressure supporting the TV on it's side, we placed the cardboard that we slid from the base and rested to box with the feet installed on the "cardboard box". Then the unwrapping was simple. We never set the TV on it's side.

With OLEDS you have to use the full box to lay the TV down on top of. It gives you a platform to enable the feet to be connected easily. Cheers.

I saw the 77 A80J right beside the 83 A90 J at best buy in DFW. could not tell the difference in picture quality....8k vs 3.5k....and they look almost the same size!

That's strange because a glossy screen will always have better picture quality than a matte screen. They most likely tweaked the settings in the showroom to make both of them look similar.

@@robhenson5516 it’s AMAZING! It’s definitely the best tv to have for movie content. If you’re into gaming I’d recommend getting a different tv cuz the A8H is just catered for the home theater experience. I just wish they had a bigger size than 65” for that model that’s why I want the new A90J for the 83” 😭 but definitely recommend A8H 10/10

This is an awesome tv and I’m sure it looks even better in person. I am a Sony guy always but I can swallow paying $5000 and change rather than $8000 so I planned to buy the LG 83 inch OLED but in the end I changed my mind and went with the 130 inch Stewart projection screen with my Sony 4K projector. I know it will never look as good as an OLED as far as brightness and black levels but 130 inch screen looks awesome in a dedicated theater. Love the channel, I look forward to seeing more content on this beast.

This is my same dilemma. I have dedicated media room which has pitch black dark room. I have a choice: between 83 inch OLED TV ... OR 120 inch 4k Laser Projector. I was leaning toward projector but.. after seeing OLED... it's hard to decide what to choose.

Now you can pay 15k for a 97"oled.. 😆 yeah hard to choose. There is a screen size camp and a premium image quality group. Hard to make those decisions.

9:00 i’m using LG OLED CX and apple tv. It is waking up apple tv just fine. Once you are on apple tv input, just click on back button one or two times on lg tv remote to wake up apple tv. Unless you send any signal, it wont wake up. Other tip is , make sure apple tv ir sensor is not blocked. I.e., you can keep apple tv anywhere , any position, even behind tv, but make sure the front part of apple tv is not blocked , so lg tv remote works.

Hey Classy, you mean in the states? Cause the Panasonic is known to be the best no? why for a couple of years? I’m pretty sure next year will be even better when Sony has had more time to iron out the kinks and heat sink efficiency etc. and gaming features, but besides that yeah awesome TV. Crazy how 83 inches is becoming more common when in the past it would be unheard of.

@@socratese5 in the states yes, but also Panasonic is like LG and doesn't do anything like the XR processor. It's good for getting close to reference but OOTB most would prefer the Sony. Sony likely won't replace the A90J until 2023-2024. The A9G is over two years old.

Will be the best tv till next year, like 77” CX was ”best” last year, and now it’s pretty ”mediocre”. (Both of them are not best tv’s of course, but from the more well known consumer lineup, not costing tens of thousands). Personally I’m waiting for 88” OLED for upgrade. This is great tv of course, and continues to be for years. And it’s true that this year the upgrade was big. Next year it might be much smaller.

@@ClassyTechCalibrations Other than 2020 they've released the 9 series OLED once a year. You could be right but it seems it was likely due to covid and Sony wanting to try the heatsink version which was the reason that year didn't happen. Z series has been usually every two years though. I expect Sony to continue to release 9 series annually as its a huge money maker, especially with this years sales.

Long time watcher and certified AV Holic of over 30+ years and really enjoy what all of you and a lot of the other AV heads that I totally respect and love to hear the different opinions and ideas, being from the UK we apologise for everything lol, so saying that can I just point out, The Apple TV switches to HDR or Dolby Vision automatically and without trying to come across as a jerk but the settings should be set at 4K SDR and obviously have matching frame rate and dynamic range set to on, otherwise no matter what app or screen you are on it’ll always be a forced HDR / DV signal, I’ve tested it on everything from the ‘App store’ and then checking the output info and that says HDR when in real world it isn’t and that goes for every app or show that isn’t in HDR, it shows HDR on the info, but switching to 4K SDR allows the TV to transmit HDR or DV as and when detected..I hope this makes sense and I hope you don’t take it as a dig or negative comment, just trying to help. After watching your videos for 2021 I just purchased a A80J 77 inch tv. I was told to get the Big Sony wall Mount SU-WL855. We installed everything ourselves. Also have Directv and A BOSE 300 Soundbar system. Had trouble getting the Bose Soundbar to work, but finally got. it. OutSTANDING television. The picture is perfect and surround sound is awesome. Only Complaint, is SONY should have install and setup videos to be able to get through set up. Information that comes with tV is almost useless. thanks Richard Szoka

Hi, I see you install the reet while the tv is lying on the front. The Manual of Sony says this may not be done. Why would this be?

@@BTheInstaller yeah I think I have to agree about the Nets. I think if they stayed healthy they'd win. The Nets honestly worried me for the Suns I've live in AZ my whole life so I still remember the Barkley days, those were good times. I loved the Nash era a lot too but this new Suns era is definitely legit. I like how CP3 acknowledged the Clips tonight in his speech since he played there. That was cool too!

Hey B, great video my friend. Can you please answer this question as I’m desperate to go OLED. I have a 2015 Panasonic 65DX902b LED which I find INCREDIBLE. So the wife and I watched the 2nd Fantastic Beasts film last night and there was so much dark shadow scenes which my tv handled beautifully. You’ve tested the A80 and the A90 above, so my question is this……would I see shadow detail on either of those OLEDS? I know you’re very busy so I’d definitely appreciate you taking the time to guide me. ✊🤗 Jeff, UK 🇬🇧

My favourite TV. I want another one. I have some color graded video that I have edited for family, looks absolutely beautiful on the TV. Some other from vacation at high bitrate, and it looks stunning on this TV. Always coming back to this or the A80J over the C1.

Great review! My question is would you stice with this being an insane picture or go the new bigger Samsung 98"? This is going into home cinema room which is only 3.7 meters by 3.7 meters, so viewing distance is about 3.2 meters. The sony is around $5k less currently. Any advice and suggestions would be welcome!

question: I have a question I use an Apple TV exclusively. I have match frame rate and match dynamic range turned "on". My current Sony 900F does a prolonged transition between different frame rates and dynamic range. Especially with dolby vision content. Takes like 5-10 seconds to transition to new content settings in which it says "no source identified" and then finally displays the new content correctly. I also have an Lg CX that handles these transitions much better. and faster. The delays in transition are frustrating and kind of mess up the Apple TV experience a little. Can any Apple TV 4K and A90J users comment on this? I am trying to decide between 83 Lgc1 and 83 A90J? Thanks a ton

Hi, what about motion handling on the A90J? I heard and read on different sources that the motion handling on the A90J is bad and has issues like stutter, especially with slow panning shots. What is your opinion and experience with that? I'm thinking of buying the 83" A90J in 2024 because the price went down a lot in The Netherlands for a new A90J. Thanks!

Do you think this TV will last longer than the C1 because of the heatsink? Is the picture quality worth the premium? I am going to buy a 83 inch in the next few weeks and having a hard time talking myself out of the A90J.

the c1 is a great tv I mean if you want the absolute very best then get the a90j if money is no concern to you then go for the a90j. I got the lg oled c1 77 it's a great tv for a decent price. compared to a really high price for the sony.

I own the 55 inch and it's beautiful. TIP: Follow the instructions and leave the unit semi-supported vertically in the bottom of the box to install the feet on any A90J model. The included instructions show how to do this. On larger models like the above it may require a second person to help stabilize the TV while raising each side to attach each foot. Virtually every video on RU-vid shows someone doing this incorrectly and making life much harder than it needs to be. It leads to awkward lifting and flexing of the TV and panel that is completely unnecessary and could possibly damage the unit.

I have a question. Are the bezels sealed air-tight this time with the newer Sony Bravia models? I bought a 43" Sony Bravia KD43X8500F 4K Android TV on Friday, August 17, 2018. It had 4 HDMI slots and 1 set of RCA component cables. I loved it except for 1 annoying flaw, the bezels are not fully sealed allowing small insects to infiltrate and get stuck inside the layers of the screen and it has happened to me 3 times already and twice I have wrecked the LCD pannel in my own DIY attempts thanks to the pandemic. I am looking for a newer 4K TV with sealed bezels but unfortunately, the single analog input on these newer models from every manufacturer is sporting inferior composite input instead of the superior component. I miss playing Gran Turismo 4 on my PS2 at 480p and 1080i via component cables. Looks like may also need to shop around for a cheap 32" Samsung TV that still has component inputs just in case my 29" Sony Trinitron Wega CRT TV ever breaks down. I do wisch that the bezels are sealed airztight this time around.

The unboxing instructions show the PROPER way of unboxing this and attaching the legs without doing this long-winded way you're doing it. That's why there is a quick start guide attached at the top of the box lol. Read it. You can attach the feet while it's still in its box standing up, and trust me I've set up a few of these. Appreciate the video regardless though.

Are The Mounting holes located Dead center on the rear of the TV?? LG has theirs lower than center. Which is a big deal if you are using an existing wall mount..
