HUGE Catfish In Tiny Bass Pro Shops Aquarium

On one of my rare trips to Bass Pro Shops I found they had a giant Blue catfish in their small aquarium. This catfish was introduced sometime after ‪@TopKnoxFishing‬ had done his live stream in front of this same tank. As most of us know Blue catfish do not fair well in trophy pay ponds and it is the same in aquariums. I had spoken to a biologist at the Chattanooga Aquarium and they had trouble keeping them alive. Their aquariums are 1000x bigger than the Bass Pro Shops one. With the massive filtration system of these aquariums I would assume the catfish would live longer than in a trophy pay lake. That is the reason trophy pay lakes kill thousands of pounds of catfish weekly. Hopefully the care takers of this aquarium, Ripley's Aquarium, will release this fish back into the wild before its to late.

Enjoy the video Billy, if you can keep us updated on the Blue Cat, hope they release it but might be all ready too late. Hope you get things square away and we can see you catching some fish soon.

Your right about the paylakes.They are buying those fish from people that are stealing them from public waters .

I agree with you on catch and release but BPS in Ohio has a 100 plus blue that has been there for 5 or 6 years. And it is the same fish according to them, but I 100 percent agree with you on how terrible it is when they take big fish out of the wild

They had a big blue in the bass pro in peoria il too a while back. The last time I went I didn't see it in there

I had a blue cat in my koi pond lasted about two years but once it outgrew the pond and started eating my koi I put it in my buddy’s pond still alive to this day as far as we know the pond was 12 foot by 34 inches deep

I have seen smaller cats live quite awhile in ponds. People drop them into The Fountain City Pond all the time. I see them floating dead around the water exit.

Agree that blue didn't look that big but it's hard to tell from the video.

My reach hand to hand is about 65 inches. This fish was just about that long. I couldn't tell you the girth. Since its been starved it has lost a lot of girth.

It’s a wonderful environment and aquarium. Well kept and clean. Maybe you mind your shop and let them mind theirs. You literally were going straight from there to go murder fish in the wild. Possibly him if he were let go. Total hypocrisy.

Did you not hear the part where I spoke to a biologist at the Chattanooga Aquarium? It is 1000x larger and they have trouble keeping Blue's alive. I am a CPR fisherman and catfish in the wild are very hardy. They just don't live in captivity or in a trophy pay lake.

Billy is Primarily a catch and release fisherman, not sure if I have ever seen him keep a fish in his videos, additionally most responsible fishermen do not keep a fish that size. While I agree that it is a very nice aquarium, I do not believe it is near big enough for a Blue cat that size, and apparently some fish biologist do not think so either. As for "Murdering Fish", the recreational fishing industry is the third largest outdoor recreational activity in the US, it contributes billions of dollars a year to the economy and provides tens of thousands of jobs. In addition, recreational fishing licenses are one of the largest funding sources for numerous conservation and research programs in almost every State. I can appreciate you feeling like catching fish is "murdering" them, (most people do not) and I hope you have removed all animal, animal by-products, and products derived from animal testing from everything you use in your daily life so as not to contribute to animal "Murder". Tell you what, you mind your shop and we will go "murder" some fish 🐟
