The crochet shawl looks like it was a “Prayer Shawl”. These are usually made by groups of church ladies and gifted to those who are ill or just need to know others are wrapping them in love and warmth. Prayers are often offered up as the hands are busy making the shawls. It is beautiful.
So glad you rescued the prayer shawl. Those are items that are in demand in rehab facilities or senior living homes. I like mine for church as sometimes the AC works too well!
Wow Paula! You found so many beautiful things…I could never pick a favorite!😄 But I have to agree with you on the wonderful blue bowls with the green stripe…omgoodness…just absolutely beautiful! I loved all of the teapots…but I thought the terra cotta was especially neat! I’ve never seen one, and I bet it would keep the water really hot! Can you imagine filling it with the hot spiced tea made with tang and cinnamon? Just fill it up and take it to wherever you’re sitting! I can’t wait for fall!!! I live in North Alabama in Huntsville…the rocket city. It’s real hilly and we have trees that turn all kinds of beautiful colors! …We have wonderful thrift stores here…Too Good!😂🤣😂 I have had to start just leaving things on their shelves that were such steals…but I’ve run out of places to put things! 😂…I’m 66 and because of my grandmother Nonnie, I learned a lot about antiques. So I’ve been collecting a long time. Even when you almost had to feel guilty if someone asked where you got something and you told them it came from a thrift store. At that time it was actually looked down on if you lowered yourself to go thrifting! Almost like saying you were poor and couldn’t afford to go shopping at a department store. But…I’m happy to say…it never stopped me😁 Ive always loved the thrill of finding a treasure! Younger people cannot even imagine how lucky they are today and it’s considered a hobby that almost everyone does. And omgosh…if you ever found a piece of carnival glass or depression glass while thrifting, it was probably your once in a lifetime “lucky” find. You could normally only find those type of treasures at antique stores. I just marvel at lots of things I see nowadays! Also, we had no internet, no Facebook marketplace, no Ebay or Etsy. Nope. You had to go shopping…on foot!😂 But I have to say…it’s truly wonderful to go thrifting these days! It’s super hard for me to shop in a retail store these days…I’m always thinking…that’s a ridiculous price! I could find that thrifting for a fraction of what they want! Anyway…your Awesome haul reflects what I’ve been talking about! And isn’t it fun to be able to find so many affordable treasures?!? 😉 You are a new RU-vidr for me…this is only my 3rd video of yours that I’ve watched…and I have to tell you…I love you! You are so calming to watch, and so sweet. Too bad we’re not closer so we could be friends. My husband recently retired. I haven’t been able to get him interested in thrifting, he just kind of walks around awkwardly 😂 However…I tried bringing him with me to some nearby weekly auctions we have. At first it was like pulling teeth 🤣 I think the only reason I could get him to go, was because they make some really good nachos!😆 But…he is now going because I think he secretly likes it! He’s met a few men there that he now knows. So he feels a “part” of the group of fellow auction lovers! I’m so happy about this❣️ Well, take care. Keep on making your wonderful videos❤️🥰❤️ Debbie
Hi Debbie - what a wonderfully sweet and thoughtful comment! I know that if you lived closer we would be fast friends! Huntsville sounds wonderful! I will have to take a trip there sometime and check out the thrifting. My sisters and I are always talking about doing a thrifting road trip - now we know one place to add to our itinerary!! Your husband sounds like a good sport - my dad was like that - but he used to love to go antiquing with my mom. Thrifting has always been something my family has done. With five kids and my parents both teachers, they had to pinch a penny - and buying second hand was a necessity at times! Thanks again for watching and commenting. We are so happy to have you as a new subscriber! Welcome!
Oh my! Everything you brought home - I would have been delighted to bring home too. From teapots (red transferware my fave) to pottery (the casserole pot is SUPER), and the plain wooden recipe box!! I recently purchased the exact one and I am taken with the simple yet functional design. Sometimes it's the simple things that bring joy. Arlene, your silver treasures are just beautiful and the strawberries are precious. The apple pitcher is the sweetest pitcher with its lovely green handle. Sisters, I'm sure the website is more work than we realize but I think the design is inviting and represents your channel perfectly. Looking forward to Part 2 :)
Thank you, Mary Beth! The website is definitely a challenge for this "old dog", but I always enjoy learning new things and we have wanted to have a website for a while now. So hopefully, we get the hang of it as we go! Take care! :)
Hi Paula....just watching this evening as I was at a three day cross stitch retreat and just got home. Oh that George Washington Tea pot had me drooling!! I love it. You really did have great luck in finding all those treasures. And yes, I often have to cull a few things to add things I like better. That copper tea pot is going to look great in your fall decor. Thank you for saving that lovely piece of crochet. Hand made items are so precious. Thanks for sharing my finds today. I have not been thrifting recently but come Monday, I may be on the hunt at my favorite store. Happy Thrifting to you and the sisters!!
Hi Arlene - what a fun retreat! The copper tea pot was such an exciting find for me - I still can hardly believe it! Let us know if you find any treasures while you are out thrifting! It is so fun to see what our friends find!
Omgoodness that tiny tea set just for woodland fairys! Your tea pots and kettle are gorgous! I collect red transferware,so my heart skipped a beat! What prices!! Such great thrift stores by you.
Thank you! You are so right - that tea set is PERFECT for woodland fairies! :). And I have to say - I almost ran over to the red transferware teapot when I saw it! LOL. Thanks for watching and commenting! :)

I loved this video. Your thrift finds were so fun. I especially like the prayer shawl, the nun planter, and the Denby pieces. I have some Denby dinnerware that I absolutely love. I have just recently joined your channel and I enjoy watching you and your sisters. You have such a sweet spirit about you, Paula, and I appreciate that so much. 😊 I am excited about your new website and blog. I will definitely be checking that out today. Have a lovely day and I look forward to watching more of your videos.❤️
Thank you so much, Jennifer! We are thrilled to have you as a subscriber and friend of the channel! The website and blog is a big learning curve for us, but so much fun as well! Thank you for your kind words - I truly appreciate them! :)
I just thrifted a beautiful wooden recipe box and plan to place it on my counter with all of the recipes I clip from magazines; It makes me smile too. I loved your thrifted finds. I especially enjoyed your personal story about your great aunt who dedicated her life to the church. I am so happy you found that planter which will make you smile every time you look at it.
Thank you so much, Linda! My great Aunt Sister was an awesome person and such an inspiration! I love having a reminder of her that I can see on a daily basis!
11:55 I know you love all things tea, so I'd suggest you do a google image search for Sara Miller x Portmeirion teapots. They are gorgeous! Very modern. I have the Chelsea, the Tahiti, and the India patterns. Great haul!
Oh my goodness!!!!! I checked out those teapots and now I need to get one (at least one anyway! LOL). The are stunning!! Thank you so much for the tip - and the Chelsea, Tahiti, and India are absolutely gorgeous!! Lucky you! :)
I just stumbled upon your video and I know I had seen one of your previous videos sometime back and forgot to subscribe...not this time! I think you are so enjoyable to watch and your content is very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing future videos!
Hi Paula Great haul and I especially love the little tea set and the copper kettle. I would have picked up both of these. Its miserable weather here today so a perfect time to catch up with my RU-vid friends. X
Thanks so much 😊. I hope the weather clears up for you - but I always say - bad weather is the best time for thrifting! LOL. But honestly, is there a bad time for thrifting? :) LOL
The denby pottery color shading came through RU-vid just great. It is such good quality and what a steal. Loved the story of sister. I spent time with the fransicans at our home town school, and like you, loved hanging out at the convent. Sisters were such an interesting and fun group of ladies! Glad you also enjoyed them! See you next time
Thanks! Always enjoy your videos! I Just found a toast caddy about a month back. Since then I’ve seen several videos where someone found one thrifting. 😂 That happens a lot, but always amazes me for some reason. Doesn’t take much to entertain myself I guess. 😊
Oh my goodness - thank you for your sweet comments! I'm so glad you are enjoying our videos. Austria and my home state of Vermont have a common connection - the Von Trapp family of The Sound of Music. They came to America and settled in Vermont! Small world! :)
Now this is what i call a haul! WOW, what good luck. The tiny tea set is so cute. The little cups look like little blueberries to me. Just so sweet. Happy for you.
Amazing haul! I'm so glad you bought the prayer shawl. As an avid crocheter, I can say that lots of love went in by the person who crocheted it. I am a new subbie and really enjoy your channel.
Marlene peters- i just started recently watching you and your sisters video's. Love your blue & white blouse. Loved everything you purchased. Iam also a fan of copper and brass. My weaknesses are baskets. I should open up a basket store . Have great week. I can't wait until you do part two.
Welcome and thank you! I'm so glad you found our channel and are enjoying it! I love baskets as well - they are hard to resist! LOL. Stay tuned for part 2!
Great finds yet again. The copper tea kettle is amazing. I have yet to find one in the wild. Copper is very hard to find in my part of the world, West Texas. I finally treated myself to one from an Etsy shop and I just love it.
I am fairly new to your channel and really enjoying it. I have watched many past episodes now and love you and your sisters and mom. I am a retired teacher-1st. 2nd, remedial, gifted and talented. I love to thrift and decorate with thrifted items and buy lot of clothing items as well. Thank you for opening your homes to us.
Thank you, Judy and welcome! We are so happy you are enjoying the channel - and we always love having our mom make a special appearance! Thrifting is such fun - we always love hearing from kindred spirits who appreciate it and enjoy it as much we do! I also always love hearing from teachers - current and retired! I hope you have been enjoying your retirement! I know my mom has thoroughly enjoyed hers - although she loved teaching. She always said she "never worked a day in her life" because she loved teaching so much! I feel the same way!
New subscriber here and I thoroughly enjoyed this video. I had looked for a copper tea kettle forever and finally gave up and treated myself to a new one. It sits on my stove with my copper cookie cutters behind it and it makes me happy everyday. The brass basket would sit on a shelf in my kitchen filled with napkins. And that tiny tea set is darling. I'm going through some health issues right now but when I am well again I can't wait to go thrifting. Thanks for a fun time!
Welcome and thank you so much! Thrifting is such fun! I pray that your health is improving and that you will soon be back out there at the thrift stores!
I am pretty sure you can use it to heat up water. I will probably use it mostly for decor, but it does have a tin lining so I'm sure it can be used to boil water! :)
Hi there- I was so happy to discover your channel! I watched about 5 videos last night and plan to watch all the others! I live in Columbia SC, but I am from Charleston, and my sister lives in Summerville. My sister is not in to thrifting like I am. Could you please recommend the stores and shops you like? I plan to go to Summerville and Charleston next week.
Welcome!! I'm so glad you are enjoying the channel! I shop at the Goodwill stores in Summerville and Goose Creek. I also like Re-tails which is in West Ashley and Second Chance in Summerville. The Community Thrift in North Charleston and Summerville is good for clothes, but their hard goods can be pricey sometimes. Good luck! Let us know what you find!!
My mother said the same thing! Now that you've both said that I can remember seeing similar ones just inside the door of the convent! I wondered about that when I saw the little nun figurine, but there was dirt inside of her - I guess someone used her as a planter. I cleaned her up and put her on my bedside table!
