You should stop worrying about what is ‘in’ or ‘fashionable’ at the moment and just wear what you like! Fashion moves so fast these days that it’s definitely better to just invest in items which you love rather than racing to keep up with trends :(
This ^^ Also, it doesnt matter if you cant go to a club or if you dont have an event to where a certain outfit at. Where a stunning dress at a park or at a restaurant, or literally anywhere you can go. There shouldnt be limits on which outfits you can wear at certain events. Fashion is sooo versatile and thats what is so great about it!
As I've got older I understand the key pieces I wasted so much money in secondary school with buying "fashion" that wasn't really my taste. Luckily I looked after stuff so I could resell them. So now I don't buy alot I don't need too I have enough . so I save for key pieces and I have to really love it. Also you can't get hung up on brands it doesn't matter if it's Tesco or Ted Baker it's the fit that matters.
I was watching a video by Helen Anderson the other day and she spoke about a similar fashion dilemma. The basic point was: you don't have to have one style that is yours and says everything about who you are.You can wear something really feminine one day and then something very dark and rough around the edges the next. There's no need to put yourself in a box. If you like a top then wear it. If in that moment it's what you feel like wearing then that's ok. Have fun with it. This is obviously different to anxieties about having too much choice. Sometimes you might not know what you want to wear that day. I've practiced not overthinking it because it shouldn't be that difficult. But sometimes it is, so it's good to have some simple go-to's for when you're feeling overwhelmed.
This probably isnt helpful at all but sometimes I feel that I've got too many options for clothes that my brain gets overwhelmed if you know what I mean, so I did this thing a while back that I put every single one of my clothes in a bag and only picked it out and put it back in my wardrobe when I wore it. It made me really realise what I reach for and feel comfortable in and I was able to declutter and refine my style that way. Trust me eve, you are not alone in feeling that 💕
Genuine question but why does it matter if things are in fashion at the moment or not? Like you look great in the denim skirt and you like it, why not wear it? Trends are fickle at best.
i agree! it's hard to go against trends though people can be so judgy. and especially with micro trends - it feels like some clothes are only in fashion for a couple of weeks it's so irritating
I've never followed trends. I have no idea what's in fashion 😆 If you still like those skirts, keep them. They could be disco pants from the 80s and if you still enjoy having them and wearing them, go for it! Unless I go to a few shops and see the same things over and over and think "this colour/style of item must be in"
omg it was so nice to hear you say that about your style because i've been feeling the EXACT same way! all i'm wearing atm is comfy pj style clothes and hoodies because i cannot find any style that feels like me. glad im not the only one hahha
Keep the denim skirts and the spotty longer skirt. Ditch the cord skirt and the three coloured longer skirts. Keep the long sleeved dress your figure looks insane in it.
Having a full bedroom is so relatable. After 2 years in a uni house I moved back home. I now own a house worth of stuff but only have a small bedroom to keep it all in
What’s really helped me with clearing out clothes and fine-tuning my style is only buying secondhand - which controls how much I buy, helps out other people and you can find really unique bits - and leaving things I like in my wishlists for a while and revisiting them to see if I still like them. Currently in my depop saves are two pairs of shoes that I have been repeatedly thinking about for the past couple of weeks and imagining with outfits, so I know those will be good purchases! ❤️ I say keep the burgundy and blue denim skirts! Out of curiosity, what keyboard do you have? I’ve been considering getting one, I need a freestanding one with a headphone port, so if you recommend this one I’d love to know!
I completely understand what you mean about styling clothes Eve, I feel the exact same to the point where sometimes I imagine an outfit in my head and when I actually wear it out for some reason I just hate it and can't wait to get home and take it off. I'm quite an indecisive person though so I can never really decide on what I want my style to actually be which is a bit of a struggle x
You should keep both of the denim skirts, they look absolutely great on you and will always look great with any top. The dress suits you SOOO great you should totally keep it, you look stunning!!! Lots of love from Spain! 💜
Ok I had to pause (will watch to the end though dw😆) honestly, just keep what you like wearing! Sounds simple but other things get in the way, if you worry about what's trendy or in fashion you will always have a wardrobe bursting at the seams! You do you, no apologies no need for opinions. If you love it keep it if you don't say bye. If you get rid of something you may regret likelihood is you can repurchase. Enjoy finding your new style! Much love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I 100% feel you for the style and have felt that but what really helped me was just to realise what I feel comfortable in (flares and a sweatshirt) and then add elements of different styles to that so like leopard print converse or like a nice jacket ! Hope this helps - your style is what you feel comfortable in - not what is fashionable x
The reason you probably can’t work out your style is because you are too worried about what is in fashion. Where what you want to wear and what makes you feel comfortable
Totally relate with you about not feeling comfortable in clothes right now!! I think part of it is probably being in pajamas for so much of the last year, at least that's what I'm telling myself, but I'm trying to search Insta and TikTok for outfits I think are cute to find my style again x
This video was such a chilled vibe especially whilst I was doing some Quizlet! Thanks for your UNIQ video I decided to apply to UNIQ btw, and I’ve managed to be accepted into UNIQ! Thankyou for all your videos Eve!❤️
Tips on finding your style - make a Pinterest board of outfits where you like oooo that’s nice, I’ve done that and over the past few months I’ve got quite a lot of photos that I know are my style, which I then use as insp for when buying clothes! 💗
i totally relate to the clothes dilemma!! i feel like my style changed a lot in the last year but my wardrobe is full of my old clothes from before - and on one side i don't want to get rid of them all, but they don't feel like me anymore... i think the best we can do about it is to gradually buy pieces that are our "new" style, and try and pair them with our old stuff to make it more fitting to the new "me" (until eventually I bought enough new clothes that i like)
Love this video!! A way to try and find your style which helped me - Write down each piece of item of clothing on like a google doc or whatever and then sit down and try to write out outfits of what might go together - then you will kinda have like something to look at when u need inspo!
That skirt try on section was trippy for me, I just went through my wardrobe yesterday and tried on that exact red corduroy skirt AND the exact leather skirt (I can tell because of the specific front pockets lol) and I ended up keeping both because I absolutely adore them, so I'm tempted to say you should keep them, but only you know if you're actually gonna wear them again, so it's up to you 😅
Just a suggestion, but maybe you could swap out your double bed for a single and place it along the wall? I also have quite a small room with a large wardrobe and having a single bed has freed up lots of space and made everything look less cluttered. Loved the video!! ❤😊
I'm feeling the style/fashion thing so much idek why but I struggle so much atm with finding my style and not knowing what is my style and what not and being really insecure on what kinda clothes look good on me
I feel exactly like you do I wouldn’t wear anything I used to - I’m really unhappy with my weight and how I look atm - and when we had the nice weather I was trying to find something more summery to wear and I couldn’t find anything at all that I liked in my wardrobe. I’m so used to seeing myself in leggings and hoodies that i don’t like anything else - not really sure what to do about it really I think I need to start eating slightly better and I’m going to join the gym from the 12th and slowly start wearing more normal clothes to get used to it again. I think it’s totally normal to feel this way atm we’ve had a weird ride the past year and a bit so - sorry for the rant lol got carried away 😂 sending hugs and love ❤️
I completely get you with wearing outfits!! I’ve worn jumpers and leggings for so long I literally don’t know how to dress anymore 😂, plus the fact I’ve gained a couple of stone😂🥲
Sis I feel you. Rn I hate picking outfits as I don’t like most of the clothes I own. I’m in the process of getting rid of them to make space for new clothes that fit me
Big Tip: For items like the black, off-the-shoulder dress - go to a local seamstress. Get it taken in and adjusting. Plus, when the shops open - search for a good strapless bra.
You may want to look into a capsule wardrobe. Might be a nice way to have a couple staple pieces you wear all the time and then add a few fun or cute pieces for specific occasions.
omg eve get the tesco app + put in ur club card number to set up ur digital card which u can then add to ur apple wallet (and delete the app if u want) !! that’s what i do haha no more forgetting !
strip your wardrobe back to the basics you love, look for themes and colours that you already have, make a pinterest board containing things you already have and allow the app to generate new ideas based off it, find a colour palette and stick to it for as long as possible to figure out what suits you, take photos of yourself in every outfit that makes you feel good and save them to a folder on your phone for inspiration x
I think for me it’s that my style has changed since I last dressed to go out well over a year ago yet I didn’t buy new stuff so my going out clothes are going out clothes of me 18months ago x
@@hannahwallis1290 I mean what happened that you left them? What's in your memory box and why?only If you feel like talking about it to strangers of course, no pressure
Me with a room at my mums my dads and at uni all completely filled with stuff that I probably don't really need thinking I should acc get organised knowing full well I won't when I acc have time to
Keep the denim skirt, it looks hipster when it's not "in fashion" and just good otherwise. That tarten skirt is hard - it's pretty and I think just really needs to be styled right. I would keep it and see if you can wear it post covid and if not get rid of it. I love the flowy skirts but it's really about if you ever wear them. That dress (long sleaved, sparkly) - keep it omg! You are not too old for it it's so good.
I was probably the first one to like this video and i still havent been able to see it bc i have so much studying to do so im gonna reward myself by watching this video after im done with all of my studying. it'll be midnight by then i uess :-( Edit- didn't finish all of my studying but its almost midnight so im gonna treat myself anyway lol
The black skater style dress/princess Diana-esque one you could easily take it with a sewing machine. Only problem is you need a machine 😂🙈 I have loads of skirts like that I just took in because they look so much better that way.... Also KEEP the denim skirt! They NEVER go out of style! And the first dress, the sparkly one is BEAUTIFUL never too old to wear it!
