That is the problem with multi-head emb machines, that no one talks about. When one head is having problems, the whole machine shuts down. Much better to have 6 single heads, so the rest of the heads keep running if one stops. This is the strategy our shop has been following for the last 20 years. PLUS, you can run different small jobs at the same time with multiple single heads, and not tie up the whole 6 head machine for one job. Good luck with your endeavors. 😀
That's just a very expensive road to go down. To have 6 single head TMEZ's is a little under $200k when then 6 head costs $100k. I can still shut down heads if they fail too but I definitely see your point
most multi head machines allow you to turn off heads as needed. also running multiple single heads takes more man power to operate. one operator can run two six head machines yes it will take two people to manage 7-8 single heads.
@@leestuart38Hey here’s a pro tip!! My family has been in the business for over 30 years. We have a tall guy that runs our hat machine, so we raised the machine by using cinder blocks. makes a huge difference and helps the back. i can send you a pic
Happy to see you moving into embroidery. I run two single head ZSK's and multiple singles definitely has it's perks but def a more expensive route to go for multiple machines. But, I don't have to be super precise on hooping since I have some room to move the needle to my start point and being a single person run home shop it's helpful to run different designs/products as needed but as volume increase more heads are definitely needed but I run along quick enough with my two singles for now but plan on adding more singles when the time comes. Keep killing it!
hello, im from Mexico, thank you for share this video, I just bought 3 months ago a new tajima SAI, machine is good, at the beggining I had the same issue of thread breakage , the techinician checked the machine 3 times, but at the end I think the issue was because I was putting the pre filled bobbin wrong, lol, but now machine even with the max peed 800 RPM, machine flyies. Just got a 6 head TMAR KC delivered last week! Noticed in one of your older videos you had a melco sitting around. That is what we currenlty run, and I am hoping I like the Tajima so much better that I can sell every one of them (hopefully no potential buyers read this comment) and go ahead and roll with 2 tajimas.
Just because your car can go up to 200mph doesn’t mean you shoudl drive like that all the time, thats what one OG Tajima tech told me ages ago, keep you machines running no higher than 600RPM, as well when you’re running caps dont run them higher than 500RPM, machine will run smoother less threads break and less problems you’ll have on preventative maintenance, good luck homie.

Beautiful stitch outs, your new/old hat design looks terrific!! I have two Barudan Pro3’s and when I have problems with the “upper thread break sensor” it’s usually from short stitches. In the settings, I have the ability to adjust the “number of stitches” before it trips the code, not sure if Tajima has the same setting.

We looked at those EZ machines, ended up going with Ricoma. Literally the same machine minus the auto tension that’s unnecessary, super easy to work on if needing to replace parts and stitches like a dream. We got 2 of the 1508s for almost the same price as your 1506EZ… 16 heads for 100k vs 6 heads for 82k. They both run like a dream. The only tajima I’d consider getting would be the SHL5 single head with laser for appliqué, but they want 51k for it right now which is absolutely insane. Tajima prices are so high because Hirsch Solutions marks everything up 47% as an exclusive distributor fee…
Ricoma is a good embroiderer but it has no collaboration with tajima, barudan, happy or zsk... Ricoma is a premium china, it has certainly improved a lot and the quality-price ratio is very good, let's say it is like Xiaomi combined with Samsung or Apple

What are the “little tweaks” you made that kept the machines from stopping? Sounds like they made all the difference since you were able to get through jobs without any issues but you didn’t hint at what the changes were.

slow down the speed and the lettering, especially the smaller size lettering will look better, even without using a thinner needle and thread. You won't snap thread as much either. Time studies don't lie. Running at 800-1000+ can take longer to complete a large job due to down time. 680 is ideal speed. Produces a better result too, even on cheap apparel.

I love your videos! We also love our Tajimas. As long as you maintain them and have a good service tech then these machines can run like a beast even as they age. We use the TFMX models 6 head, 4 head and two single heads. I’m really wondering if the TEMZ and the auto tension functions really increase efficiency? Now that you’ve posted this 6 months ago, still wondering if you love your TMEZ? We’re thinking of getting a TMEZ for the next purchase, just a one head.
@leestuart38 the laser thing will help so much. I have not used mine for it, but I'm going to try it soon. Right now, I just cut after it sews. You have to be way too close if your satin stitch is not wide.

It's been great watching you grow. When you decided to go with Tajima, did you consider Barudan and ZSK? If so, why did you choose Tajima over them? From what I've seen, they are about the top three brands but I haven't figured out what the major differentiator is other than the proximity of service personnel.
Service is the main factor most should consider. Doesn't matter what brand you run with these things will need service and they will break. Having closely available service is so important to make sure you don't have down time, especially only having one machine. Other than that it does help to choose a brand with a proven track record of quality. Tajima checks both of those boxes for me. I have a tech available anytime in my city and I get peace of mind knowing that there are 30+ year old Tajima machines still in service today producing high level work.
@@leestuart38 Thank you. I figured that the availability of service technicians would be a major factor. Those pesky single points of failure can be an issue but I think you'll have to build an addition to your building before adding a second 6-head machine. :)

Love this! Did you make your money back on the machine first before upgrading? I'm thinking about going the same route as you with the single head first, but then again I don't want to get backed up by jobs bigger that the single head cant handle. Kind of like you, Id rather get the top of the line machines, than waste my time with something that's "subpar."
I made about 75% of it before swapping to the 6 head, and that was in 3 months starting with no embroidery clients at all. It's not a bad idea to start with the single and build up your base, plus it's something you can keep for sampling and small runs. I would have kept mine if I had the space
Just curious why you didn't have a Hirsch Tech help you set it up. We've used Tajima multihead Machines since we started in 2004 and every machine we've purchased, a Hirsch tech has had us up and running within 24 hours. I'm actually wanting to trade one of our 8-Head TMARK's in for this very machine. Hope it works out for you! Stay Awesome!
lol i work in a factory with 3, 8 heads, 7 6 heads, and 4 single heads. I run a 8 and a 6... the 8 is the only tmez.. the rest are tfmx.. oolder ones and the tmez is sooo nice to have.. but yeah.. shit gets looooud.. but its soothing somehow too haha

I can't seem to find the final video about the single head tmez you were talking about that was posted. Just got a single head tmez so looking for as much information as possible!
The biggest reason to choose the TMEZ is the automatic tension. The up front cost is a lot higher but it is worth every penny. Not having having to worry about tension makes employee training super easy and you can trust there's always a consistent and quality product being made.
Did you by chance look at the zsk racer r? It can run at 2k+ stitches per min. A 6 head machine of that is equal to running 12 of another that is similar quality.
Just because it can doesn't mean it should. A lot of machines can go fast but most garments can't handle anywhere near that speed and maintain tight embroidery quality. It's just a gimmick.
I don’t know if I would go as far as saying it’s a gimmick. It had stellar reviews at the expo. I know a few tajima owners looking to switch over just for that stitch speed.

You can’t embroidery full back designs because large hoops doesn’t fit on the space provide by a multihead. And when you have to make embroidery name on jackets or any garment you have to do it one by one imagine you have a order of 48 jackets to embroidery a personal names on it. What you will do?
Wrong. This is the stretch model so it can run full back sized embroidery pieces on every head. I leave the personalizations to the crafters running single head machines, there's no money in that for me. We're a volume production shop.
Been following you on our new embroidery journey, and took your rec and followed Kenblkwrk as well. His vids look like they got taken down by Wilcom, do you know if he’s coming back? You and him should partner up if not!!
In our shop we run 3 of these- Rough time estimate is for every 1k stitches is 1 minute. 8k 8min etc plus treating the hats etc. Our shop was broken down by marshal Atkinson to be as profitable as humanly possible. Time trials are a must.
Do you have the 6 head Standard or stretch version? Which do you recommend? Also does it come in parts so you can install it or is all big piece of equipment.

This is an amazing machine, but we got quoted almost $91k delivered and we got our brand new 2023 Barudan 6-head Stretch 450x520 for $50.5k so that’s almost 1/2 the price… so we ordered two Barudan 6-head Stretch for the price of one TMEZ Yes, I know it doesn’t have all the bells & whistles that TMEZ has, but Barudan are best known for caps… even Richardson has around 300 Barudan heads in their facility
It's not even close to comparable. The technology in this thing is where the added cost comes from and is decades ahead of the Barudan, and it's worth it. The comparable Tajima machine from their lineup runs the same price as the Barudan
The “comparable” TFMX Tajima was quoted at $75k delivered and still has a smaller embroidery filed than the Barudan at 450x520 Plus embroidery is like driving. Learning how to drive is best on a 1980 manual car without gadgets… just because you can jump on a brand new automatic car with all the new bells and whistles it doesn’t make you a good driver… I know 1000% certainly you won’t be able to solve issues or tweak EMB files because you’re “learning” on your TMEZ… but good luck Don’t get me wrong, it’s an amazing machine, but I bought two brand new Barudan for price of one TMEZ and Barudan is what major companies like Richardson use for their caps
@yehudahweisz3879 that's the thing, I'll never have those issues so there will be nothing for me to solve. You're right it is like driving, and you're comparing a car with a carburetor to one with fuel injection. One costs half as much and makes the purists happy, and the other is modern technology that produces maximum performance without needing constant tuning like the carburetor. The vast majority of operator issues come from incorrect upper tension, presser foot settings, bobbin tension, speed, etc. I only have to worry about bobbin tension and speed at most. Plus I can train literally anyone in a few days to run this thing and they will produce the same quality product that a veteran can. That alone makes the cost worth it
You should sell some raffle tickets maybe give away the Single head away but only with a purchase of tickets or maybe a special embroidery drop hats. I started my company watching your videos I run my company out of my one bedroom apartment so it’d be cool if some of us small business owners would be able to maybe contribute to your company and have the possibility of winning a commercial embroidery machine… 🤔

The automatic tensioners and digitel presser foot technology in Tajima machines is a game changer that everyone will sooner or later warm up to. In any case, you have done a terrific job of introducing the TMEZ with a BANG!!! to many who wouldnt have otherwise known. Keep up the good job of educating us
