@@learning_the_outdoorsMaking them memories for that kiddo for sure. Awesome! Love catching those big ones myself, I'll weigh them and put them back but keep filleting fish like you did. Big ones are your breeders.
There are two things I greatly appreciate about this video. The first is that you are with your son and you two are fishing. There is a high likelihood he will always remember the day that big one go away. He may just share that story with his son. And his grandson. At 66 years old, I can tell you for a fact that getting older happens in a blur. Take advantage of every moment, like this river adventure. The second thing is the lesson you are teaching about giving away fish and making others happy. You son is extremely fortunate to have a dad who took him to the river who and is instilling an extremely important value. Keep doing what you are doing, my friend. And don't blink. He will be graduating from HS before you know it.
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm already feeling like they grow too fast. I hope that you are correct and he does remember these trips. I know I will!
Fishing with my stepson in 2003 when I catch about a four pound rainbow in Montana. Young fell asked if he could fight the trout , held on to the fly rod for a bit then the leader parted . Many years later I asked if he remembered that big fish . Nope 😢😢
Both of my kids are in their 20s, and both remind me of trips we've taken throughout the years at random times. Your comment is %100 spot on. Awesome memories. 😊
You are bringing that young man up to be a good person. What a blessing for both of y’all. He will always remember you and him fishing together. Lots of great memories ❤
I have 2 daughters. Both in their 30’s now. Plz don’t get me wrong. I love them dearly. But watching this video of this dad fishing with his young son brought tears to my eyes. What a special bond between a father and son. Dad will never forget moments like this and son will share these moments with his children.
Love to hear the enthusiasm in a child’s voice when it comes to fishing .My grandson use to chatter like that .He’s a young man now and although he still enjoys a day on the water ,I sometimes miss the little guy he use to be . My best advice is to remember these days with him cause before you know it he won’t be little anymore . God Bless
Happy this popped up on my feed I'm a east coast ocean fisherman and we don't have any big catfish here but seeing a young kid happy about fishing is always a great thing to see for the future of the sport hats off to you for raising him the way it should be much love and respect and tight lines to you and little man
A dad and son on the 4th enjoying not just the catfishing, but even better, that father and his son. Sir, you are a one hell of a pop. I was lucky enough to have a dad just like ya and I am 60 now.
Thank you for teaching a young man about life. I am now 80 and watched my son and daughter grow into good adults, now I watch them teaching the same to their children. God bless the little people and their parents.
This is great, father and son making memories. I take my 2 little boys trout and bass fishing also. These times can't be bought but made wonderful and beautiful time spent with a child and father! Keep it up.
It’s unreal how that little man never stops talking! To know what is going on in that inquisitive mind… unreal! So many things to learn, so many things to see!
@@learning_the_outdoors I recently had the opportunity to land a couple king salmon in Ketchikan, Alaska with my buddy Matt. We were on a cruise, stopping in town for just the day. A 9 year old boy named Alex was at the river, talking and talking and talking. He surely made the experience even more of a story! Watching that jug go under alone would have been exciting. Recording it for us to see? Epic. Sharing the experience with your son? Legendary!
You caught some nice ones! That first blue cat was STRONG!! Had your little fishing partner with you! Fishing with your son- it doesn't get any better!!
One of the best moments of that wonderful video was when @ 8:08, that little boy said, "good job buddy" to his dad for guessing the correct weight of that fish. Enjoy every loving moment, and every day and year together. Before you know it, that little boy will be old enough to take HIS son fishing.
I don't believe there is a creel limit for catfish here. Some lakes may have regulations specific to that lake, but nothing from the state level. We catch and release 90% of the time, but nothing wrong with keeping some for table fare from time to time. 😉
You brought back a bunch of memories! I use to jug ponds as our rivers are polluted. The sand holes produced some huge cats. We used milk jugs and mason cord, We used chicken gizzard for bait. Thanks for the video.
Can't commend you enough for being the dad we all wish we would've had when we were young. Your son is having the life we all should've had. Keep up the good work.
That little Boy has a great Dad. Unfortunately, I grew up without my Father in my life, but my older Brothers always had that same level of patience with me that his Father has. I commend him for teaching him such great and valuable lessons, which will mold his Son into the type of Man that his Father is. May God bless you both and the little Boy's Children, who will be taught some quality morals and care about others.
That's the best fishing buddy anyone could ask for!!!! I could only imagine the excitement level if he did get to catch a shark!!! Come to South Carolina, I would love to take y'all sharking!
This is good stuff, man. I grew up in rural west Tennessee and me and my dad used to do stuff like this. But... I live in the suburbs with my boys now and I miss this life. I hope I can get my boys into doing things like jugging.
I love how confident, excited and happy your son is! My dad was a saint with us 3 kids in his boat fishing! You sir seem to be patient and kind and out there having a great time, a saint like my dad!
Your little man has got it down! I laughed the whole time. It sorta made me feel sorry for my daddy because your boy reminded me of myself when I was young. Keep guiding him into being a great man. The world needs more daddys and less fathers.
I love your son he is so much fun. I always dreamed of having a boy or girl who loved fishing like that and with that enthusiasm. I was not so blessed.
This was one of the best videos I have seen in a long time . What an awesome dad I don’t think his son could be any happier . It’s so sweet to see how much fun he is having.
Great video of you both. I really like the way you tell him in a relaxed voice how " to behave" in the boat 4 safety etc because kids get exited easily. Keep up the good job. Greetings from Iceland mate.
Excellent video guys. It’s so awesome that the two of you are having so much fun fishing together. My kids are grown now, but we still get together for fishing trips, just in their part of the country, my baby girl is in Tn (fly fish for trout), one’s in Florida (peacock bass), the other in Tx (largemouth bass), and as for me, I take em out in the Gulf or on the beach. Treasure it, it’s these moments that you’ll reflect on for a lifetime….❤❤❤
In my 50s now, I wish I could be as excited for 5 seconds per day as the little guy was the whole time. Life can sure suck the joy out of things if we let it. Fun vid! Sucks he got off. Would have loved to have seen that explosion of spontaneous joy.
Love how fired up your son is jug fishing, good times. Made me laugh while I was stuck at work...."maybe us" lol love it! oh and defiantly a giant cat, have to go back after that one!
I love seeing a kids reaction to "Stuff".....lol, fishing stuff is about as good as it gets! We used, "Limb Lines"..... of course you can tie off on stumps but I'm talking about a lake w/ trees lining the shores that had limbs hanging all along the banks. Seeing the limbs crashing down really gets the heart pumping & we never had to catch a runaway jug - which is good since we were in a canoe. That gar sure startled the young one...lol, great video peace
Well, they're more of a geographical item in my experience.... certain lakes have the right tree lined shores that makes it worthwhile but catching fish is worthwhile, no matter what method you use. Get after it now b/c he'll be grown/gone before ya know it. GB ALL
This makes me smile. My son and I were out doing the same thing yesterday! And, my son sounds just like yours...excited! We have a small jonboat that gets us around, and we've been crabbing and fishing all summer long. Thanks for sharing. Keep those lines tight, gentlemen! 🙂
That's awesome! I bought that jon boat for $300 off of Craigslist a few years ago and there is no telling how many fish we've caught out of that thing. The kids love it just as much as a big bass boat. Thank you for commenting.
Love your video. I bought a boat like yours been fishing the river not far from my home having a lot of fun with my family. Good luck this season and be safe
That is the best day FISHING with your dad. I really miss those days my dad bought me everything i know about fishing.I have passed it all down to my great grand son.
@@learning_the_outdoors That's a very safe bet!!! .. my daughter caught her first 6lb channel when she was 5yrs old on a little boat at 2am one morning(I never got a bite that night)... biggest smile I've ever seen. ... that was 20yrs ago! lots of great memories.... lots of pictures.
