I told him to feel this in the golf swing and then something remarkable happened - he improved by 20 shots! Learn the golf swing move that got my student to lower their score from 92 to 78 in just one golf lesson. This was one of the most transformative golf tips I've ever seen and it will improve your ball striking.. It's very effective at getting your body to swing through the ball with maximum speed and consistency. In fact, it's a great way to check if your golf swing is on the right track, too.

I am Tom Saguto, PGA Member and founder of SagutoGolf. Thank you for visiting my instructional page where you can find how to get on the fast track to improving your golfing abilities. Whether you are a seasoned golfing veteran looking for a quick swing tune-up after an on-course emergency, or a beginner just looking to get the most out of your golfing experience, I am here to help you achieve your golfing goals.
My mission as your swing doctor is simple, to help you maximize your enjoyment in game of golf. Because, let’s face it, golf is a hard game.
My philosophy is wholly based on the student having a fun, meaningful experience in a frustrating and complicated game where potential lifelong golfers either quit because it is too difficult or that they experience some form of swing-related pain or discomfort. I mitigate these problems by focusing entirely on the student’s needs and goals while teaching a golf swing method that ultimately takes stress off of the common pain areas of the swing.

As someone who been playing for 3 months i am so glad that i found you. I had watched at least a thousand hours of other instructors and almost all of them contradicted one another... this resulted in changing my swing every other day 😂... well now that ive found your vids, im sticking with it; especially since i broke 70 last week using your methods you teach. Im out driving guys using my 4 iron. Everytime i swing they call BS about the fact that ive just started playing. Im just glad that i found you before i built in real bad mechanics and habits from doing what the other coaches are telling me to do. Kudos

@SagutoGolf 12 дней назад
Wait.....WHAT???? Are you saying that you broke 70 - for 18 holes - and have only been playing for three months??? If that is a truthful statement, then first of all you need to know that this rate of progress is virtually unheard of, and second - that is absolutely outstanding!! 💪💪 Beyond that, I sincerely appreciate your kind words, and I'm very glad to know that my lesson content and teaching style are resonating with you and providing clarity and simplicity in the muddied, overly complicated, oft-conflicting realm of golf instruction. Thanks so much for your message and support, and keep up the fabulous work! @SagutoGolf @SagutoGolf ok, so, after double checking with the guys I played with, unfortunately, I did not break 70, I hit a 73. My bad, I thought breaking a certain number meant that I scored in those figures. Forgive me, I'm new to the game and still have quite to learn. Anyway, I went again yesterday to see that it wasn't a fluke, and I hit a 71, two better than the last round from last week. Honestly, watching the reactions of guys I get paired up with after telling them I'm new to the game is priceless. You should expect some new followers in the coming weeks from New Zeeland tuning in more. I'm gonna spread the word everywhere I can. Saguto, Saguto, Saguto!!!!

I'm a 3 hcp because of Tom's teaching. He's the best because of his way of explaining the golf swing. Most golf teachers explain it in away to make you want to give give up golf. They make it so difficult to learn from them. I've been playing golf for a long time all the way back to Ben hogans Five lessons. Inwhich I did get pretty good through trial and error. Just about all golf teachers teach the same golf swing but make it hard to learn. But not Tom. If you want to learn the golf swing and learn it quick. Listen to Tom he's the best. Wish I could have learned from him when I first started. Year was 1981. GOOD JOB TOM, YOUR THE MAN!

I'm very glad to know that my instruction content and teaching style are resonating with you, Kevin. And yes - we are curing OTT here multiple times a day, each and every day! The shoulders obviously play an integral role with regard to path and power, but they must be deployed in the proper sequence in order to deliver on both fronts. If your shoulders are overactive or prematurely getting ahead of you in the transition/downswing, then I suggest focusing on your lower body action as described in these lesson videos: - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dB4ItR3guGU.html - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I5XYgKopTb4.html Beyond that, there are entire sections of my online school dedicated to diagnosing and resolving common swing, contact, and ball flight issues. Have you looked into it? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Tom - With your driver swing is there any tilt like conventional teaching and is your weight still forward on your lead leg? And to what %. I have followed Moe Norman, and Paul Wilson of late. I hope your method can help this old struggling golfer. I really enjoy your videos. Thanks Your 🇨🇦 Friend
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf 7 месяцев назад
Hi Leon, The tilt and weight forward elements are absolutely components of the driver swing. In fact, it is essentially the same swing with every club; just some minor setup differences and naturally occurring shaft plane changes as we graduate up in club length from short irons to woods. To demonstrate, you'll find towards the end of this episode some practice range footage of me hitting a 7 iron, 3 wood, and driver: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-o0xscMyN3v8.html Beyond that, if you search the word "drive" on this channel you'll see some related content. I am aware that many folks out there believe - and some even teach - that we must try to "hit up on the ball" with the driver. However, consider that in our stock setup with the driver the hands are even with the inside of the lead thigh (as they are with all clubs when playing a standard shot) and our ball position is even with the inside of the heel of the lead foot. This presets a very slight degree of forward shaft lean with the driver. Beyond that, the ball is behind the zero-point of the swing (which is even with the lead shoulder), meaning that without any contrived manipulations the club will still be on its descent - albeit very close to flat - at impact. So, perhaps with the exception of folks with slower swing speeds - or those Long Drive participants teeing it extra high and hitting maybe 1-2 balls out of 10 onto a 60-yard wide "fairway" - in general the path is still ever so slightly down. In fact, the PGA Tour average with the driver is actually minus (e.g.: downward) 1.5 degrees - nearly level - and it should feel level - but slightly down nonetheless. (Here is an article on Ping’s website addressing this topic - ping.com/en-us/blogs/proving-grounds/optimal-launch-and-spin#:~:text=According%20to%20Trackman%2C%20PGA%20Tour,85%25%20ball%2Dflight%20laws ) For these reasons I do not advocate trying to hit up on the ball, and efforts to do so due to erroneous advice have caused many an amateur significant issues with their driver. Upon learning this swing properly you will be harnessing the tremendous power source known as "angular momentum". This is the reason my students and online school members of all age ranges end up bombing it farther than they ever had previously, and I'm happy to let their unsolicited testimonials tell the story: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews. And here's a link to my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker” if you’re interested in checking it out: go.saguto.golf/ Thanks - I'm glad to know that you are enjoying my content! I appreciate that, Victor!! I was using JumboMax Ultralite grips in extra-large in this video and several others for much of 2022 and the first part of 2023. I had wanted to give them a try for a few reasons, including the fact that DeChambeau uses them and we share similar swing philosophies. I personally love the feel as well as how they help to keep my hands quiet through the zone. Now, having said that, I recently purchased a new set of PXG's, and since they don't carry the Jumbo's in-house I went with their largest available grip, which is a midsize. I absolutely love the clubs, and I'm putting the factory grips through the playing test before deciding whether or not to have them regripped. There are no issues with the Jumbos and I still really like the way they feel; that's just where I'm at presently. The Jumbos are not necessarily for everyone - and my fingers are a bit longer than average - so I routinely tell folks to "try before you buy." However, having a properly sized grip that feels both comfortable and secure is critically important as it is our only connection to the object that is going to deliver us blissful joy or deep anguish, yet it is perhaps also the most overlooked equipment fitting component in golf. Thanks for your message! What a great tip Tom! When my shoulders get too passive, I'm the "poster boy", for the stopping at the ball miss that you demonstrated. Key for me, is finding out that it's possible to hit great shots with a left side lower body triggered downswing, if it's blended with a free move of both shoulders, on a track well past impact.

Actually, I have phased out in-person instruction so I can further dedicate my efforts in support of the online school. I will, however, continue the V1 Swing Video Analysis lessons as they are instrumental to the progress of my school's members, and these can be done for anyone from anywhere across the globe, school member or not. This enables me to put my eyes on your swing and offer some very specific observations and corrective action plans if applicable. The process involves downloading the free V1 app and then submitting two videos to me through the app - one down-the-line (captured from your stance line, not the target line) and the other face-on. You'll find more information about the V1 Analysis halfway down this page on the Saguto.Golf site: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolf And here's a link if you are not already enrolled in the school and would like to know more about it: saguto.golf Thanks! Got a little story to tell you Tom. I’m sure you get tons. I started watching some of your videos last summer and it really helped me with swing basics. I was sliding a lot and very inconsistent, hitting fat shots and hitting behind the ball. I’ve never been a good golfer. I actually quit playing for probably 15 -20 years Started playing again in2017 but was injured in a truck accident in2018. Broken neck nose back, well I’m still here and age and injuries where I lost a lot of distance I’ve accepted. Anyway I had gotten my game pretty consistently in the mid 80’s in warm weather where I could get out and play. Always tougher in winter but I was just spraying the ball around and then I thought 🤔 What do I need to do ? Exactly ! Get back to watching your videos and the one where you point your shoulder at the ball and keep your body and head on the ball. Amazingly just today I went from shooting 93-94 to 84 and I missed a lot of putts. I have shot in the 70’s 3 times. The main thing though was my ball striking was SO much better. CRISPY 😎 Thanks again Tom for keeping it real and keeping it simple for us weekend warriors, you’re awesome !

That's awesome, Bob!! Thanks so much for sharing your story, and congrats on an excellent round yesterday!! I'm very glad to know that my channel's instruction is resonating well with you, and the lesson video you referenced is a good one for putting it all together in one simple thought. By the way, with regard to your injuries, you may be interesting to know that a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. It all begins with a proper setup which provides for a free-flowing motion. Upon that good foundation a repeatable swing which produces consistently crispy impact can be built. Have you considered the comprehensive, structured, sequential learning platform of the online school? That's where - among many other courses and lessons covering various aspects of the game - you will find very detailed instruction and drills that take you through the entire swing step-by-step from setup to finish. Here's a link if you would like to know more about the school - saguto.golf - and here's a link to some unsolicited testimonials if you'd like to see some other stories: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews You don't need the flexibility of a Romanian gymnast - or even of this far less pliable golf instructor - to execute this swing, experience great ball striking, and reclaim - or even exceed - yardages from years past. I hope you'll give the school some thought and take your learning - and your game - to the next level. Thanks for your comment and keep it crispy out there!! Tom

I’m on vacation on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. I planned to go to the driving range today, and decided to watch this video beforehand. It was revelatory! I hit every club so much better following this simple technique-keep the shoulders turning through the shot. It was weird. At first it felt like I was going to pull the ball 20 yards, but it kept going straight! I did mishit maybe 10 (out of 90) balls using this method, but pretty sure it was because I looked up before making contact. It was very easy to correct this. I’m a believer, Tom. Can’t wait to get on a golf course (tomorrow) to try it out.

I'm very glad to know that this lesson resonated with you, Pam, and I hope it performs well when you put it into practice! If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper wrist action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. Thanks! I'm very glad to know that my instruction is resonating well with you. Sadly, many misconstrued and/or misguided teachings of "conventional" instruction - such as turning the shoulders level while independently lifting the club, shifting into and torquing against a firm trail side, actively rolling the hands through impact, etc. - have relegated generations of golfers to the vast abyss of chronic frustration (and chronic back/knee/hip pain as well). I’m doing my best here to clear these up one by one and put an end to this madness! Tom

I have been casually golfing for about 5 years now. I am self taught and have watched hundreds of RU-vid videos trying to get more consistent. When I've swung well I've noticed my shoulders tend to move more freely, but I always locked them up thinking back. My 5 iron usually goes about 160 yards...I went out after watching this video and hit it 200 yards dead straight....the sound was so different on impact than anything I'd ever heard. I cannot wait to go out with my golfing bud this weekend.

It seems that starting from the top of your backswing, you’re whipping the club into intact. How are you getting that whipping motion ? What is your grip pressure at the top of swing? Great video like always
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Год назад
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Eliot! If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including a proper full wrist hinge - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to its pre-set position established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. As for my grip pressure, I like it to be relatively firm, but that does not mean that there's any tension in my hands, wrists, or arms. Tom

Hi Tom.... Just a note to say thanks for the instuction in this video I am a 5 Handicap who has had some pretty inconsistent and indifferent Swing issues lately ... Couldn't figure it myself out until i saw your video.... So, I went to the range and after using this technique and after about 10 to 15 swings It had literally fixed my swing issues. This is a game changer Tom Thanks .. I couldn't believe the transformation, I had lost 10 to 15 yards on most of my irons, this lesson was an instant fix. By concentrating on my shoulder rotation on the backswing and through the downswing and finishing around, I regained that distance and the noise when I flushed those Iron shots was something I have missed... I took the technique to the first Tee and not only did I regain the distance I had lost I was hitting it dead straight and kocking down pins, this was truly amazing. The results were instant, long story short..... I shot -1 (70) The swing also translated into my Driver swing with the same results... You are a very smart young Man keep up the great Instruction, This was "Finger lickin Good" This technique gave me fewer moving parts and made my swing more compact and much more powerful..... Thanks, Stuart

I definitely get more distance with this shoulder turn however during a round I start to misfire especially with the irons and end up in some bad spots. This could be my footwork or my age 81, altho I am on a 16 handicap. It could be my knees in the rotation, im trying to figure it out as I have been having good success with the Moe Norman style altho a ways shorter with all my shots and I am very impressed with your no nonsense approach to how we should be swinging the club. Cheers from NZ. Hey its almost summer.
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Год назад
Happy almost summer, Jerry!! With regard to shoulder turn, it all begins with a proper setup: both feet flared out 10-20 degrees, with both knees flared outward as well but to a slightly lesser degree. This facilitates a resistance-free, body-friendly 45-degree hip turn that then enables the shoulders to turn 45 degrees without any strain or tension. It also helps us with keeping our weight forward throughout the swing rather than shifting. By the way, a significant percentage of my online school members are in their 60's, 70's, and 80's - i.e.: a smorgasbord of chronic ailments, physical limitations, back/shoulder/knee/hip pain, arthritis, and joint replacements - and they are overwhelmingly elated to experience the dramatic pain-free game improvement, seemingly effortless power, and resulting enjoyment that this swing affords them. I don’t care how free my shoulders are I’m never going to swing my driver 112 mph swing speed, I’m 54 and I can barely break 100 mph if I’m lucky, so do I need more gym time, how much do you bench press, should I do more chest press or some crunch machine? Maybe a video on your gym routine would be helpful. Thanks!
@SagutoGolf
@SagutoGolf Год назад
Hi Roger, You don't need 112 mph, and I don't know that bench pressing is going to help. There are physical trainers who specialize in appropriately working the golf swing muscles, and there are also swing speed training exercises and routines out there that you can research. This lesson is all about freeing up your big muscles so they can drive the swing and allow you to maximize your potential.
