HUGE GRAIN TRAINS RUNNING THRU THE RUGGED THOMPSON CANYON! 

Nice footage of you walking through the Thompson Canyon forest. It's a very interesting way to start a mountain railroad video. The freight trains look wonderful. Once again, excellent job!

The Thompson Canyon viewpoint is one of my must stop locations when I cruise this way. Besides the spectacular canyon scenery, Skihist Provincial Park across the highway contains a campground which I have used many times back when I had a truck and camper. Within the campground area you can find parts of the original Caribou Wagon Road to walk along and cast your memory back to 1865 when the road first opened.. The local First Nations are part of the Interior Salish people and "skihist" in their language Nlaka'pamux stands for "great crack in rock" or "split rock" Skihist became a an overnight stopping point for the BX stage coaches and cargo wagon trains. Eight horses pulled the stage coaches and wagon trains along a narrow 18 foot wide rough road carved into the side of cliffs.

Hi Tyson, excellent video as usual. Was thinking, for us rookies, could you please explain how a percentage of grade relates to a corresponding geometric angle? TY.

I have wondered how you get your tripod (assuming you use one) so level with the terrain you have to work with. Nice video though!

I notice there are what look like catenary mast supports along the side of the track on the side by the rock face. Is that a warning system ⚠️ in the event of a rock fall?
