Vanessa V -- that isn't an excuse though. She and the people that help manger her business dealings should have made sure that they have input or veto power as it relates to pricing, as well as other controls, and if they didn't get certain controls that would help ensure quality and satisfaction with the product and/or promotion, then they shouldn't have done the deal to begin with. Claiming you don't have control or claiming ignorance is not an excuse -- she should have known and she should have had more control over the promotion. This hopefully is a learning lesson to her, and it may also be a wake-up call that she may also need to get different people around her to help manage her business dealings, because this one was a clear failure. I would never give my name/brand over to any promotion without knowing every intricate detail of it, and neither should anyone else. If you do, you deserve some blame (and should humbly accept the blame as well) if there is understandable backlash due to the customer being shortchanged in some way.
@courtney4128
@courtney4128 6 лет назад
I used to be barista at Starbucks and had this customer come in quite often. He was middle aged (I was 21 when this happened), married, a teacher, and had a kid I think. It started out really harmless and then he started doing weird things like asking me if my car was the blue one parked outside, gave me a copy of a book he had written with all his social media accounts written on a post it on the inside cover, asking me if I had read it endlessly, found out I was pregnant and got my baby gifts (we barely knew each other and I hadn't told him--he had overheard other employees talking about it), started messaging me on facebook quite often then when I wouldn't respond would come into the shop and ask me, (etc etc etc) to the point where I blocked him because I was starting to get weirded out. I didn't want to deal with it anymore in case it developed into something creepier. My fiance was pissed when I told him and agreed these were creepy things for someone to do when they barely knew you. A few weeks later this guy apologized to me for making me uncomfortable (a co-worker had explained to him why I was suddenly trying desperately to ignore him). I accepted his apology and he never bothered me again. I would never in a million years try to get this guy fired or ruin his life becasue he made me feel uncomfortable though. There's a huge difference between someone raping you or touching you/explicitly talking to you sexually VS someone being a bit creepy and making you feel uncomfortable. It bothers me that a lot of these allegations are just coming out now. LADIES, if a guy sexual harasses you or rapes you SAY SOMETHING. Report it immediately. Get him in a situation where it can be proven, whether it's in a room where there's a video camera or something. There needs to be proof. That sucks for real victims out there, but you can't expect everyone to believe you "just because well I'm a woman and well that should be enough." Women lie allllllll the time. And these matters have to be taken just as seriously as any other crime, which means there MUST be evidence.
@courtney4128
@courtney4128 6 лет назад
Exactly. I had a civil disagreement with one of my friends over this and my point was you wouldn't expect everyone just to believe the victim coming forth saying "this person murdered my dad" or something like that. Everyone would look to that person and ask for proof, evidence. Rape is hard because the evidence is only there for a short amount of time. And that's what makes it so harmful. But I feel if we put more effort into teaching girls (and boys too!) what to do if something like this happens to them, that they should go to the hospital straight away after, then things could improve. An allegation isn't enough. Which is unfortunate, but just because someone claims they were raped doesn't mean it's true. Especially now adays where we have people accusing others just to ruin their lives/careers.

I've definitely creeped girls out before, and frankly it was because I just want to be liked by beautiful women. Not all of them of course, that's ridiculous. But I can't help it sometimes. I just want to be liked. And if a girl who looks like Kallie (like at 0:54) shared personal info with me regularly, it would really give me sense of worth. And I know I'm not supposed to hold other's opinion of me as my personal view of my own worth, but I get worn down sometimes and I'm just like "Dang, I wish I had someone like that," who doesn't really think much of me. "Oh, I view you as a 'mentor'." Yeah, "thanks." And to but blunt and rude (sorry to him), a guy like Vincent Probably hasn't had hardly any attention from women at all. Although, I have no clue, really. Sometimes I'll see some girl on the internet or TV or something and go "Wow, she so beautiful..." and imagine what it'd be to talk to her about things I think about sometimes. Similar to how Vincent told Kallie that "Men don't like skinny girls. You're perfect" and she would appreciate that. But I know that's weird and simply will never happen. But it still makes me said. But that's how it is. Sorry this was weird/creepy, but I was a bursting bubble just wanting to get this out.

@James Russell: There's a difference between using lame chat up lines / bad flirting and sexual harassment. That girl just needs to learn the damn difference. (I say this as a woman). So please don't worry about telling someone they're pretty or whatever, just try and pick up on social cues to be sure you're not making someone uncomfortable. If you think you might be, back off. It's straight forward.
@jamesrussell2936

I agree with you. I've always had trouble with people. I partly boil it down to my parents not having social skills, and therefore can't teach me something that that they don''t know themselves. But step by step, am I right?

I understand this comment is 2 months old but I'm just coming upon it now and I have to say it's a bit brilliant. I'm not a feminist but as a leftist I'm sympathetic to feminism (or any ideology advocating for oppressed minorities). And I'm more than happy men like Weinstein, Kevin Spacey, and Bill Cosby are being justly crucified. But the last month or so I've personally become very uncomfortable with how closely the MeToo-Movement is inching towards "Salem Witch Trial"-territory. This IGN-story is a fine example. Clearly the dude-in-question is a creepazoid who needs to work on his boundaries (not unlike your creepy baby-present-buying coffee-customer). But shutting the whole joint down and not working because HR wouldn't go ahead with axing him (or whatever they would've preferred) is, frankly, disturbing. I actually give a shit about the MeToo-Movement, a just movement, and would rather not see it brought down by a precipitous loss of credibility. I remain hopeful but wary.

As for the sexual harassment claims, I personally find it hard to believe what he did was sexual harassment. I also find it odd that when he asked what he did wrong BOTH women refused to tell him in what way he made them feel uncomfortable. How can you expect someone to do better if you never express what they did wrong... just my thoughts.

An aspect of all these sexual assault stories that no one is talking about is how the new platform for announcing them has become social media. I'm not sure how to feel about this. One the one hand, it obviously gets the word out quickly and forces the issue to be dealt with in a way that a quiet police report rarely does. On the other, it makes the accusation - and the accompanying stigma around the accused - immediately public. So while I'm happy that so many victims are seeing some action being taken, I'm concerned about how much this feels like we're creeping toward Salem-style public accusations that create a de-facto guilty-until-proven-innocent atmosphere.
@samscholz5024
@samscholz5024 6 лет назад
Jake Bowen the solution is to go to the police or sue them. Done simple then after that has proven the person guilty then you can go to social media.
@vxrdaunt
@vxrdaunt 6 лет назад
EXACTLY. That's why, as bad as this sounds, we have to assume these women are lying from the get-go. Because any ex-girlfriend who carries a grudge can do a lot of damage by simply making the allegation. If we assume she's lying, then that doesn't happen. If she's not lying, great, dude gets punished and we're all good. If she is, also great, she gets tried for defamation. Problem solved.
@xxspicygurlxx
@xxspicygurlxx 6 лет назад
I agree, when something becomes a trend there is the possibility of people making false accusations for attention as we have seen in the past for false hate crimes. It is sad but true. For the first story, I am kinda leery of the sexual harassment, especially since there was a lot of personal text between the two people. Male and female friends can sometimes make sexual jokes between one another and sometimes one person can take it too far that makes the other person uncomfortable without knowing. I'm not saying he's not guilty but I can see a possible misunderstanding in this situation that made the company say it was both parties fault for not staying professional at work.
@JakeBowenTV
@JakeBowenTV 6 лет назад
Fair points, but I think this trend is a result of how ineffective the standard route often is. Look at all the women who watched Bill Cosby go untouched for decades. In principal, I think this social media accusation trend is wrong, but I still recognize the reality that the alternative is often fruitless for victims. And all that said, this IGN one sounds fishy. I don't doubt she felt the way she felt, but his behavior doesn't sound beyond the pale to me, either. Man, this stuff is rough to sort out.
@person2.022
@person2.022 6 лет назад
I completely agree with you there, but I’ve noticed that in a lot of these cases the victims actually did go to authorities, be it HR or the police, before making it public. When going to authorities didn’t work, they sort of gave up on getting justice until now, when social media has given them a safer/more effective way to get their voices heard. Doesn’t change the public crucifixion of alleged attackers without trial, though. Since it takes so long before these cases actually come to court and go on trial, the public has gotten used to deciding on their own, which is potentially dangerous. And social media makes it easier than ever to spread and find information related to the case, making people feel that they’re opinion is justified even if they are working with limited information/evidence.

A .dll file disappeared, and some cc randomly corrupted. It still crashes when I try to save the game sometimes, but I think it's because I leave the game open for hours before.

Looking at the IGN guy's stuff as well as her claims, as a guy who's generally the one people go to so they can vent and such, I'd hate to have a co-worker like her. If what he's claiming is true, of course, then she basically just used him as a tool and when he tried to actually be, you know, a human who felt like he was close enough to her because of their talks that he could try to make an advancement (and not even anything really sexual either, even she's not claiming that he felt her up or anything), she starts making claims on him? That's fucked up. If you don't want to be anything more with someone, just be honest about it with them, don't get management involved unless it's actually a serious problem, but from even what she's claiming, that doesn't sound like a serious problem.

As a survivor of sexual abuse, I am also sick of public accusations. I understand that the sense of solidarity can provide someone with the strength to face their own situation, but it is teaching people to handle it in a way that can cause more harm than good. I was 12-14 during my abuse. I had a mother who took charge and handled things through the legal system. I had to sit in front of a judge and jury and explain in painful detail the things that were done to me, that I was groomed to do. I was in therapy and support groups to help me understand what happened and guide me on a path of healing. I was instilled with strength I didn't know I was capable of because of my mother and all of the people who had dedicated their lives to helping people just like me. I used to dream about writing an autobiography, because life handed me dozens of lemons but no sugar to make the lemonade sweet. Blow after blow, trauma after trauma, for a decade of my life - I was somehow still going, still smiling, still strong... and I thought my story might help people. And hey, if it sold, maybe I wouldn't have to worry about money anymore. But how could I possibly do that to his daughters? His little girls, who had never done anything wrong in their short lives. They didn't need to grow up with the world looking at them as daughters of a pedophile. His parents didn't deserve that shame. His wife. My mother. My brother. The people who shared our names. The collateral damage was shared amongst too many people as it was, and the man responsible was sentenced and jailed and no longer a risk to the public. He will always be on the registry for his offenses, he will never be allowed to go unnoticed thanks to the systems in place. The rest of us deserve to live our lives in peace without leaving that kind of public mark because we are MORE than what that man chose to do.

But some of these coming forward now feel like they are blowing minor stuff out of proportion. I wasn't there so I can't testify to what happened. When your young you may say things in a joking manor that leave you open and even though you were horrified at time. You still have to take some responsibility in life and determine if destroying someone for a comment and not a physical action such as actual sexual assault is worth being public opinion against you are them. The comments are wrong but you were raped you got feelings hurt. Time to grow up kids words hurt but they don't break you.

Rebecca Miller I was sexually abused when I was younger, I know this type of stuff happens. But all of these modern cases of "sexual harassment" are females being told that if a guy talks to you that is harassment, so they are blowing things out of proportion. They assume everyone has taken their women studies course that didn't exist 5 years ago and comes from the same mentality of "all men are sexist". These women are not traumatized, they are just told they can get benefits and attention or free things or special treatment just for being a victim. And modern culture promotes this victim claiming. The media tries so hard to latch onto all cases of a female claiming to be abused by a male and so does social media. When I was growing up men would make compliments and it was understood as a compliment. Now if a man dares to speak to a woman it can be sexual harassment if any woman decides it is. And this is not progress. Nobody benefits fro this, least of all women who learn they can just complain to an authority figure who fights all their wrongs. They do not have to learn to put on their big girl pants and deal with things in life.

degen83 I agree with you. Saying or doing something to a child. Physically molesting or groping or out n out physical assault is wrong. Threatening you about work or hiring you is wrong. Sorry most guys are over grown children who think telling a woman she is beautiful by saying, " Nice Ass Baby!" Is not sexual harrassment it childish on the male part n over grown emotions on the female. Yes it makes you uncomfortable but you don't ruin someone's life or career over it. Again people sticks n stones break bones words don't hurt you physically. If a man says something that makes you uncomfortable say it to him..."I don't like or feel that comment was needed let's keep it professional." Make sure you say or write it down hell if you have to record it but handle it right there n then. In this case she did but he felt there was evidence it went both ways. Don't just share your experience because all are on the band wagon to do it. Again any one who had this done to them under age of consent should speak out. But grown ass adult women grow up. A guy telling you he wishes he could get his youth back n "go all night" is not sexual harrassment unless he tells you to your face he wants you to help him try to do that. In this report nothing like that was said. You felt uncomfortable you reported it you felt unsatisfied bringing it up years later because a creep like Harvey w or Kevin S are finally caught doesn't make you a hero it makes you an attention seeking child. And you diminish the real victims and make their stories seem like not a problem. Perfect example 4 year old in a bath tub grown uncle comes in touches the kis then shoves his appendage in said kids mouth is wrong and soul scaring being told your beautiful and he would like to be able to go all night is just him being a jerk and you saying you were afraid of losing your job but you still went to he n they investigated and found you both responsible isn't a crime. It's just being petty. And for those interested that was one of my first memories my grandmother caught him then bought my silence with toys. As an adult I found out he had raped my older sister when she was 7. That's sexual assault and having to meet him at family gatherings n be nice is a bitch but you service it. Happy ending to my story he lost his family, his home and income and walked in front of a train. Karma is a bitch.
@degen83
@degen83 6 лет назад
One of my first memories was being abused in a foster home by an older kid there. I was doing what I thought was ok but looking back at it it totally was sexual abuse. So i Know this happens, but teaching women and girls that when a guy compliments you that is harassment is not helping. The message it is sending to guys is don't talk to women, and it is not teaching girls that there is a healthy way to talk to boys and that not all boys are just waiting to sexually harass you. If someone says they are abused we need to investigate and gather evidence. If there is, we need to have the processes in place so we can hold them accountable for what they did. But if there is no proof we cannot just assume guilt based on no evidence, or just because the accuser is female and the accused is male, that is just sexism plain and simple and if we are trying to progress to where there is no sexism than nonsense institutionalized sexism like that has no place and must be called out, exposed, and ended when it happens. A man complimenting you is not harassment. A man saying nice tits is not appropriate for the workplace, but a man saying nice tits on the street is not harassment unless he walks up to and makes a lot of those types of comments or he starts touching. It is not going to get him any dates but I take it as a compliment from someone who doesn't know how to talk to girls and less of an attack on me. A man saying nice ass or nice body is not by default harassment. It is not polite to say that but it is just like when we think to a guy nice ass or nice abs or nice chest, the same thing so why is one harassment but not the other? If one is, both are, but if both are then everyone is sexually harassing every hot person they see every day and that gets quickly out of hand and absurd. But touching, exposing, and even some of the more lewd comments if they just keep coming, and some comments even if they are told just once is harassment. We need to teach the difference to people so they do not just have a bad day and do cry harassment. If you have consensual sex with someone and later regret it, that is not rape, the person is not a bad person because it was consensual at the time, consent cannot be retroactively retracted. I am so sorry that happened to you and your sister and family. That is why we need to investigate these claims but maintain innocent until proven guilty. If there is no proof then there should be no legal consequences. Of course if it happens and there is no proof you should distance yourself and not be around them, but it is better than the logical conclusion of just accepting peoples words in criminal cases without proof where everyone who wants something accuses another of stealing and they can just take their stuff, or they get into an argument and accuse the other person of a crime that never happened and the police put the other one in prison. I would rather we have a burden of proof before punishment and we do not just accept someones word as truth because they are female.

This is turning into a witch hunt, even Joe McCarthy would be uncomfortable with how far this is going. The guy misunderstood their relationship, that's not sexual harassment, not even close. People calling petty bullshit sexual harassment completely trivialises the concept and it makes things much harder for the people who are actually harassed to be taken seriously.

Sam Lemke Agreed, AT LEAST keep that option open and do investigation, and keep an open mind until then. Communication between men and women is complicated for many and misunderstandings arise easily. This should be taken into account. I also think the response from the accused showed a lot of empathy for the girl, he seemed very understanding and distraught. That can be an act, but again, let's have an open mind instead of a witch hunt. (I'm also blaming the girl for anything at all, her feelings may have been very much justified. I'm just saying that we should be open to the idea that this wasn't the intent behind the actions of that man. It could even be that he was attracted to her, misinterpreted her signals and acted in a clumsy way. I think training for men, women and management on how to deal with this kind of situation would be smart.)

In my experience, the internal IGN response is fairly typical. In a previous job at a very large corporation, I was friends with all of my co-workers. I'm a male, and one of my female co-workers would ask me about other women in the office regularly. "Isn't she pretty?" and "Wow, that skirt looks great on her, right?" were typical questions she had for me. But even in that situation, I understood that there was probably a double standard, and I only agreed with her, providing no further opinions. After several months, my boss called me into his office, saying that someone wants to file a sexual harassment claim against me. After describing a few conversations that I had with the female co-worker, I knew who it was and told my boss that she had initiated every conversation. He said that she was "convinced" not to file harassment by her female boss, and I was told very clearly to NOT discuss the situation with her or her boss. Afterwards, I was told to avoid her whenever possible, and was forced to attend a sexual harassment course. According to my boss, she was not required to attend the course because she said she would go to HR if she had to do that. Within the week, everybody heard that I had sexually harassed her, even though I hadn't done so, officially or unofficially. On the one hand, it's good that charges weren't filed against me. On the other hand, it's disturbing that everyone just wanted the whole thing to quietly go away...except for my punishment.

The Zoella thing is obviously a scam but companies do this stuff all the time. They clear out inventory and backstock adding it to special bundled items in order to turn a profit rather than take a loss on unsold items. This way they can trick the consumer into thinking they're getting something special when in reality they're getting one over priced exclusive item and a butt load of filler items no-one want to buy separately. Personally I think when your filler items include things like stickers and glitter, items valued for less than a dollar at party city, you have officialy become a con artist.

Im sorry if this is controversial, but I don't think what happened with that woman was sexual harassment. Yeah, some guy who is kind of close to you (because you made the conscious decision to tell him personal stories), makes a few jokes about how you are ATTRACTIVE, and how HE IS ATTRACTED TO YOU, that made you uncomfortable, so you told him to stop, he apologized, and stopped. Ok, that should be the end of the story, and a perfectly reasonable thing to do, THEN YOU COME OUT A WEEK LATER WITH HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS?! How is that fair?

Rishi Arun the problem lies with HR, regardless of whether or not he actually harassed her she obviously felt uncomfortable and did the right thing by taking it up with HR, all they have to do is look into it and resolve it or what most do is just sperate them and have them no longer work together because usually when someone you work with or work under makes you uncomfortable you feel embarrassed and don't want to speak to them because it's awkward and you feel bad even, sometimes they can make you feel ashamed which is why HR is there. to help employees be comfortable and happy, healthy etc.

We tried about 5 times to play UVHM with our normal gear but couldn’t. We discovered we could really play with the “legendary” guns/gear witch is the (mostly) best gear in the entire game....... we NEVER had to pay for ANY of them..... we had to farm for them..... witch is worth doing & something to work for, with the “pride & accomplishment” with NEVER HAVING TO SPEND REAL MONEY!!!! It seems that the female ign employee over exaggerated the situation. She may have felt uncomfortable with what her fellow coworker said which is not okay but the guy apologized for it as soon as he found out he may have been in the wrong. She made it out like she was sexually assaulted and no one cared about what may have happened to her. I find females that lie or over exaggerate about things of a sexual or flirty nature happen to them are absolutely horrible people. You make it even harder for the people who actually go through severe cases to want to come forward or believed by others... certain females love to abuse the privilege they have as being a woman yet in the same breath claim they don't have the same rights as men.

Two of Zoellas past tweets she states that she is proud of her product AND is involved in everything because she is too much of a control freak to allow third parties to do the work for her. mimimi I understand completely where you are coming from I just think that for something that she is incredibly proud of why would she not have access to the information to the pricing? Obviously I could be completely wrong but like I said it's frustrating cause we will most likely never know the true story.

In regards to the IGN story, I really think we should know what the "harassment" was. I think it's unfair to the man being accused that we don't know what he's even being accused of. Beyond that, his response to it seemed very thoughtful and sincere. I don't think he intended in any way to harass anyone. My dad was accused by a co-worker of sexual harassment after being friends for months. He never did anything to her for her to accuse him of that. One day she just told him that she didn't want to hangout with him anymore and he told her it was fine. They stopped being friends and months later she's accusing him of harassment for no apparent reason. Call me a skeptic, but I just don't know.

innocent until proven guilty, not vindicating but just not aggressively victimising him for somthing from what it sounds is a complete over exaggeration, i mean at this point verbal harassment is sexual harassment and sexual harassment is rape and rape is worse than murder, the issue is that rape really shouldn't be worse than murder, definitely up there but you have to account for murder being final and rape is word of mouth, i.e anyone can say it so lets not start the guilty until proven innocent trend only for that.

Something I have seen mentioned here and there and can attest to myself with my own observations at a few companies is this: HR is there to protect the company, NOT the employees. While many companies do have non-retaliation policies that theoretically protect an individual who reports someone from that person, which typically is there so if an employee reports their supervisor their supervisor cannot fire them the next day. I say theoretically for two reasons, one such policies do not act as a "I can do anything now" shield. In other words if you report your supervisor for something, and they are still your supervisor after that if you do something that warrants disciplinary action it is that supervisors job to deal with that matter as they see fit within the bounds of their authority and company policy. While you could argue they were looking for you to screw up if you screw up you still screwed up. And as long as there is history of that supervisor dealing with similar infractions with other employees they are covered. The second reason I say theoretically is because non-retaliation is specifically on the reported on individual, if, such as seems to be the case with the IGN situation, the HR representative handling a case feels its is in the company's best interest to put everyone involved in a situation on notice, doing so is not retaliation but a "protective measure".

It is harassment, not sexual abuse, but it still exists and it is a problem. We need to make a clear distinction between "abuse" and "harassment". You can still be harassed verbally. If you were sworn at or yelled at by a coworker, that's harassment. Sexual harassment is exactly that, being verbally harassed to a point of discomfort, in a sexual manner. This story shouldn't have been made public, it's definitely something that should've been dealt with internally at IGN. But we should be careful about "not taking sexual harassment seriously".

david yang, Expecting people to read your mind in order to keep you comfortable is never a good strategy; and not defining clear boundaries is an excellent way to find yourself in a conflict caused by a misunderstanding. Setting a boundary isn't that difficult, and it doesn't require you to be at an equal power level. Simply saying something like "I'm uncomfortable having this conversation at work" will work for the vast majority of people out there; and if people don't respect that then I think it constitutes harassment.

...because in the 21st Century, we base more and more standards on feelings. I'm not even talking about sexual harassment anymore so much as everything. A court ruled this year in the U.S. that police may use deadly force based upon nothing more than whether or not the cop feels scared for his life. Criminals are prosecuted and convicted differently not based on simply what they did but largely upon how they felt while doing it, thus the existence of hate crime law. It's all about the feels which will always be arbitrary and inconsistent.

Even if Zoella didn't directly price the items, it still seems a bit odd that she would describe her incredibly cheap product as having, "...12 amazing and exclusive treats..." This whole situation just seems a bit manipulative.

Wouldn't suprise me if Zoella had barely anything or nothing to do with it, I mean it's merchandising and in most cases that is handled by the management. It does show though that buying someone's stuff for any other reason then to give them money is pretty stupid. It does seem kinda shady though that knowing the age of her audience, they are pretty much trying to extort money from the parents since they will get the backlash if they won't buy it.

I'll be honest, I find it horrifying how fast people are to demand justice with no evidence these days. It's like they assume that no one lies about anything. Innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around. If anything bad happened, then that person needs to pay for that - but only on the condition we can actually be sure something bad DID happen.

So, what about the other way around ? Your claims should be listened and analized no matter what, not always the evidence is concrete and each case need some level of research including the context, witnesess, etc. In this case even her boss aknoleged the harrassment claim but justified it saying that she "seduced him". The evidence is right there, even IGN stated that it was poorly managed. So idk how you can find THAT horrifying and not the ridiculus amount of harrasment cases that went under the radar all this time.

Hell, it's not that were tired of hearing about the sexual harassment stories, it's just that these stories have little evidence to back them up and when the accused tries to defend them themself they are still slandered without any due process. My policy is, question everything and support both sides. Basically be Switzerland. Let the courts do their thing and when its all said and done, condemn the asshole whoever it is. Demand evidence, but don't be a dick about it. Just "Do you have proof? You shouldn't go public or take it to court until you get evidence or else you'll ruin your own name and be put through so much worse". Because that's the truth. Women who go t9 court without proof are put through hell during the trail. They end up being questioned and their lives are the ones that are looked into. Don't pit yourself through that. And to the dude "get as much evidence as possible, understand what you're being accused of and remember your sixth amendment".

True, but in some cases where would the proof come from? Unless your recording video and audio 24/7, there's no way to know who's in the right especially if the perpetrator is smart enough to cover their bases. Boots are one of the UK retailers known for having incredibly over priced gift sets at Christmas. The thing that isn't being mentioned is that most of these gift sets are included in 3 for 2, buy one get one free, buy two get two free etc promotions. Boots also used to have the tactic of dropping these items by percentages every week in the run up to Christmas, so some items would become 50% or more off the original price. It's really scummy of them to charge so much for this item, but it's definitely a tactic to try and get you to take advantage of the 3 for 2 offers to make you think you are getting a better deal by buying more of their tatt.

A lot of the people I've seen complaining about the price of Zoella's calendar are concerned for parents feeling they HAVE to pay that much because their children want it. Because Zoella's target audience is apparently young girls who, a lot of which won't be able to pay for it out of their own pockets, it means that they will be expecting their parents to buy it and parents feeling that pressure. So while, yes, my initial thought was 'well nobody is forcing anyone to buy it'... I guess that rings less true when you have kids putting pressure on their parents, if that is the case.

I like Phil don't get me wrong but he is always VERY politically correct... She never said he inappropriately touched her or even said anything that was undoubtedly a sexual advance. If what he supposedly did is enough to be called sexual harassment then we are in trouble moving forward. Her statement "this was a man who preyed on me" just doesn't seem to be grounded in reality. Seems to me like he thought they were closer than they really were; likely due to her "sharing very personal information, looking for advice". I don't know it all just seems a little shady with what we know right now. He seems forthcoming with his information and it comes off as genuine (in my opinion). I think this is a case of "older guy who has made sexual comments (not advances) and because I am not attracted to him it makes me uncomfortable" We don't know the context in which his comments were made under so it is very difficult to say whether he is in the wrong. It's either this: 1. He is a creep, HR completely failed her and he is a really convincing liar OR 2. She is a drama queen and has over analysed his behaviour
@zhawkmoth3653
@zhawkmoth3653 6 лет назад
No. The real issue, that EVERYONE is missing, is that HR is to blame for ALL of this... Vince would still have a job, and she would have been fine and felt comfortable if HR had done their job right. That man lost his job so the company could save face. He was collateral. If HR listened to the girl's complaints (not blamed her for instigating advances with her clothes and SHAMED her), then simply made sure the two were properly separated, none of this would have happened. He simply seemed like a silly guy that didn't get the message. That's fine. He just needed to be told by the higher ups to stop and not to go near her. This didn't happen, or at least, did not happen the way it should have... This is the companies fault. They were fools and THEY cost that man his job.
@AndrewN553
@AndrewN553 6 лет назад
I don't think we can be so definitive about our conclusions just yet.... I wouldn't disagree with what you said, only problem being that it assumes everything we know thus far is accurate. I personally just have a hard time believing HR "insinuated" that she is provoking him with her chest... I mean seriously.....even her wording around this part becomes less definitive using words like "basically" and "insinuated". This to me shows that it might be a matter of interpretation. If she has a victim complex she might interpret everything as an "attack" on her, this is becoming more and more common nowadays. My main point is this. Let's not jump to conclusions so quickly based off limited information ESPECIALLY when it just doesn't add up. But Phil is always quick to side with the politically correct even when (like this story) the information we are given is limited and inconclusive.
@zhawkmoth3653
@zhawkmoth3653 6 лет назад
I don't like to assume guilt in this situation. It's possible that she exaggerated, but if people start concluding that(which many are) and they are wrong, you are looking at literally blaming a victim which is a truly terrible thing to do... Also, if nothing actually happened at all, and she really was entirely at fault, Vince would not have admitted to it (which he did, albeit he stated that he assumed she was okay with it). Mere verbal harassment w/o anything physical should have been something handled properly by the company. I do firmly believe that many companies do have issues ignoring and helping their employees in these kinds of situations. This includes harassment targeted at either gender. This story is very sad, but I am hoping they get BETTER people at the company that are trained to deal with this sort of thing. I personally don't feel it really right to be terribly harsh on either the girl or Vince. Yes, PC bullshit is getting out of hand nowadays, but we can't assume all victims exaggerate because of it. I hope (if he was just a silly, oblivious guy) that he can get proper work again in the future. It'e a terrible shame. :/ I am getting very tired of seeing all of this bad news. Sorry for *TL;DR*
@AndrewN553
@AndrewN553 6 лет назад
Vince never admitted to nothing....he simply said maybe she was uncomfortable with their perceived closeness. He was essentially saying "tell me what I have done" to which she wouldn't give him an answer. You said you don't like to assume guilt but you already blamed HR only based off what we know....which is very limited. In one of Vince's tweets he said something like "she shared very personal things with me".... why would she be so close with someone she says preys on her? Why does she use such indecisive language? If this was without a doubt a case of sexual harassment how did HR let it slide? It is these types of questions that raise issues with the whole situation. But still we have Phil saying he (Vince) must do more to prove his innocence....what happened to innocent until proven guilty? I just can't imagine a HR meeting going something like: Her: "he is sexually harassing me...." HR: "but you do provoke him with your chest... so here, sign this (or you lose your job) and from now on don't provoke him" She is saying it went down similar to this... I mean if that is even close to the case then HR is 100% at fault. There is no way it went down like that. Surely. My rational brain just can't comprehend HR being so blatantly unprofessional. There has to be more to the story.
@zhawkmoth3653
@zhawkmoth3653 6 лет назад
Sorry, but saying "rational brain can't comprehend" is ridiculous. In fact, it simply tells me that you may need a bit of a reality check when it comes to big companies and their behaviour towards their employees. I can absolutely believe the behavior of those working at HR trying to take both sides but in that attempt, accuse the girl of being too friendly/her attire and making her sign an agreement along with the man. I never claimed they blatantly said "your shirt is bad", but that sort of thing can be worded differently. It seems that you have blatantly chosen to side with the man in this situation. It seems you are the one determined to take sides here. I believe he made silly comments, but should not have been fired and blasted for it at all. Me taking issues with HR isn't a witch hunt against an individual, its criticism of their company and hopefully they will do better in the future.

From all the evidence presented this isn't sexual harassment, it's pure miscommunication. If you're friends with someone you want to make them feel good about themselves and that's what he tried to do. Now if they didn't know each other at all and never spoke and that was their only interaction then yes that would be fucking weird. But he has proof they spoke on a deeper level than coworkers and her inability to voice how uncomfortable she was until the week before she reported him just shows she's shit at communication. If being called "not fat and perfect the way you are" is sexual harassment then we should just stop having girls and boys work together. I wonder if a man would ever report that as harrasment...

While Sexual harassment news are very disappointing to hear, it breaks my heart to hear story like with the Kallie where it seems that the guy was just flirtatious with the lady and she wasn't liking it, but could've been solved had she asked him to leave her alone. I cannot say for certain without Vincent releasing his full text-conversation but If we link the dots through out the situation its seems that - Vincent was being Flirty with the Lady, -He might have been trying to impress her or possibly wanted more from her -She took it as harassment but given that she and him text each other, she still didn't feel comfortable enough to tell him so complained his behaviour to HR -HR didn't find enough evidence to dirty Vincent (or might have schemed against the lady) -He then texted her asking what he had done to upset her so much. -Then She comes out publicly after all this. Now what I conclude from this timeline is that, this might be her trying to take advantage of all the harassment situation around the Hollywood and because she didn't like the person just one bit at that time, she was reminded of the "harassment" during. This is a situation where you hate the person so much you get annoyed or disgusted by slightest of their twitch. According to me If I were a beautiful young women like her, I would also not be into a men like Vincent, and when a person I don't like tries to get close to me I will start getting annoyed by everything he does and take offence. This is what fuelled everything I suppose. Its nothing more than this snowflake generation Enforcing Political correction and regarding every advance towards a women as harassment. These kind of cases more than often steal thunder from the actual harassment cases that require the attention of mass and the media. NOTHING SHOULD BE CONSIDERED HARASSMENT IF ONE WAS NOT FORCING THEMSELVES ON ANOTHER AND THIS CASE IT SEEMS THAT VINCENT BACKED OFF AS SOON AS HE GOT THE NOTICE FROM HR. GENDER PLAYS A HUGE ROLE IN SUCH SCENARIOS OBVIOUSLY. FOR EXAMPLE remember the Adam Sandler movie "thats my boy", now imagine if a Male teacher has had sex with a female student in that movie and she beared his child, would that movie still be considered comedy? Its similar situation here Because she's a girl, her words have to be taken seriously and none of the evidence would matter. Its like the custody of a child situation where mother is favoured during. Why? I am confused do people want Female Superiority or Gender Equality?

As a lady myself, and a not half bad looking one, I totally agree with what you said. I feel like this didn't feel like a sexual harassment issue at all. Just bad flirting where the dood didn't get the signal. No offense to guys, if you don't tell it to them straight, they won't get it. And if he don't back off after that, then ya, sure that can be an issue. Otherwise it feels like a highschool drama where a pretty girl wanted to make an average Joe's life miserable after not taking a hint. I rather not jump on crucifying someone without getting both sides of the story first. While we got the lady's side and a good amount of the guy, I saw nothing that warrants a "law suit". I just want to know, when did it become a taboo to talk to another gender as friends? Did it get that bad in America already? When did using our gender as a weapon for a lawsuit became popular? I've already seen the Race card used waay too much. This just telling me the lady is not suited to work with other people, mostly the opposite sex.

As much as I want to believe the victim by principle, I have to say that Vince's response is fairly reasonable. It seems to me that the biggest issue in the sexual harassment story was a lack of communication from all sides. Vince says clearly he didn't believe Kallie was comfortable with the level of friendship he was. At the same time, Kallie may have been misreading the situation because there was a lack of communication between her and Vice, but to be fair, HR really seems to have just goofed it all in general. Here in Norway, at any rate, the calenders per kilo price is about 500 kroner (NOK), that is about 60 US dollars. Normal chocolate (of the same type as the little calendar-chocolates) on the other hand costs anywhere from 150-250 kr per kilo. Y'know I'm usually on the victim's side because they usually are exactly that, a victim. This sexual harassment case sounds more like a communication problem. I definitely want to see more from this so I can get a better idea of the story here. The previous sexual harassment cases showed a distinct lack of respect from the men for the women involved, as well as an abuse of power. In this situation, it seems like she didn't know how to tell him she felt uncomfortable. He had to find out from other people. Regardless of gender or age, people can make you uncomfortable. It's up to you to tell them that. Whether or not they respect that is the gauge of their character. Some of the comments he made were a little creepy I suppose, but he seemed to think they were close friends. I don't think those comments made towards a close friend would be creepy at all. I need to do more research but it doesn't really seem like he's in the wrong here. Nevertheless, the way IGN handled it was definitely not great. Saying that it was her fault and she tempted him with her breasts is really juvenile and not an okay way to handle that. Unless she was draping herself over his desk with her tits out like Jessica Rabbit or flashing him in the break room, I don't wanna hear that. I'm curious to see how this pans out but overall it seems like it's the company (IGN) that owes Kallie an apology, not Vince.

Agreed the whole thing was mishandled. Hell, just sitting down with management present to discuss feelings and poor communications would have probably been enough here. She felt like he was pressuring her, when he clearly felt they had a personal relationship on some level. BUT neither woman made their feelings clear enough. So both parties are guilty of not setting clear boundaries. Had she made a clear demand like stop texting me, stop talking to me, whatever... then it would be a clearer situation overall. I having a sinking suspicion this is the "I want to be nice to everyone (overly so because I'm scared of upsetting anyone) girl," so when she really doesn't like him, she's making no indication of that to him. So he doesn't really know until she blows up on him or in this case files a sexual harassment complaint to HR, who makes no effort to understand and diffuse the situation. So, she lives with her utter anxiety of having upset someone (assuming that he is a predator who is now infuriated), thus making the whole thing so much worse. And if they try to talk, she panics and he's just confused and probably hurt, too. HR's should have counselors on demand to help settle these types of confusing issues. She feels violated and he probably feels rejected and lied to. Overall just a sad situation.

As far as I have understood it, HR is supposed to be the mediator in issues like these. Where you are supposed to go if you have workplace issues you don't know how to deal with. So it really is the HR that tremendously fucked up and is the "scandal". Not that HRs don't usually wind up focusing too much on saving the company from potential liabilities instead of managing their human resources well, but even there they messed up terribly.

I'm probably gonna get backlash for this but it sounds like men cannot flirt anymore without getting accused of sexual harassment. On a personal level, I have been there and I just ignored the fellas who gave unwanted attention. People need to stop being overly sensitive! When it gets really bad, then yeah, say something. But from what I've heard, he just said some rude and suggestive comments. If this guy was younger, more attractive and if she had been interested in him, would it be sexual harassment? If they'd had a relationship and then broke up, would it then turn into inappropriate behaviour in the workplace and a sexual harassment case because he used his position of power? I know people say women should be able to wear what they want but if you have your boobs out, guys often comment on your boobs for some bizarre reason and from a person with low confidence back in the day, having my boobs out was a security blanket for my insecurities. Sometimes I liked the attention, other times not so much. But if have your boobs out it does provoke a certain kind of attention - I aren't saying "she's asking for it" and this is not a rape story but this guy only touched her shoulder, he didn't molest her! Where will the line be drawn with these cases?

This is getting ridiculous and out of hand. There was an investigation done into this matter and he was found not to be at fault. Then these people basically blackmailed IGN into saying they were wrong and he was guilty. They didn't demand a better investigation into it, no they automatically assumed his guilt and lynched him. Maybe he was guilty, but this is not the way things should be handled. More and more we're seeing this is the case. All you have to do is accuse someone and they're crucified in the court of public opinion. It's sick and wrong.

Franklin Stewart I agree that accusations against people can get very out of hand in the future but we have to remember that the reason people are shocked and aren't taking any chances is because of how mainly men of power have gotten away with harassment for years and years with no action being taken against them.

I find it sad and somewhat hilarious that it is literally the definition of *bullying* , which is one of those no-no's in today's 'enlightened class of the future'. No one can act like an adult capable of handling the ups and downs of the common work week. "Bob talked to me and he had coffee breath. _I feel so violated, I can still feel his hot breath on me_ " Annnnnd spread it around the office, and now everyone is on strike until Bob has his desk moved and signs a document saying that he will brush his teeth within 10 minutes of every sip of coffee, or carry with him at all times a tin of breath mints. Further complaints will be grounds for dismissal. And Bob will get further complaints, guaranteed. But he won't know about them until they are brought up 3 years later, and he will be fired on the spot. Bob will then have to tweet some apologies to save face and have a chance of ever getting hired any place ever again. But nah, no one is being bullied here. This is just how *adults* act these days I guess.

Few questions for The lady with the IGN issue: 1: is your desk between his desk and a location that he would need to visit? Ex: Bathroom, Boss's office, break room. 2: If his desk is nearby and he is only approaching for work related questions, Is this really bad? Its only work related stuff and no unwanted actions take place (hand on your leg type of stuff), it should be a non-issue. 3. How many seats away did he sit? one? two? Unless he sat right next to you, it should not be an issue.

Ten years ago, we were having this exact same conversation about the emergence of additional purchasable content in free online games like World of Tanks, Runescape, and the like. We landed on roughly the same spot: make anything you pay real money for purely cosmetic. We got roughly the same response. "We just want to give players a satisfying experience. We promise." Now we have premium-purchased ammo in World of Tanks that's superior in every way, we have companies patenting systems that deliberately screen you as you play to determine exactly how you play so your progression can be tweaked on the fly as the company wants, and we have games that are set up like Disney world; complete with a $60-$100 entry fee, and pairing temptation buys scattered about everywhere inside. If that weren't enough, the temptation buys are now all turning into slot machines. We need to take a stance against this. Not just us gamers, but all consumers. This is market exploitation akin to the oil baronies.

I agree with what many people are saying in the comments; this women has no real evidence of true harassment outside of some aggressive flirting. He stopped when she asked, yet she still is being victimized. I hope this doesn't lead to less women coming out about actual harassment and more women complaining about how this one guy smiled at her in a sexual way.

AvonleaCavendish i think the issue is here is more of a misunderstanding and how bad the HR department handled the issue. Not to discredit any one wanting to come out about their harassment story but this story has some shady lines to it and the guy was more than willing to show the necessary evidence for what happened. The problem is i think people can see sexual harassment differently and what bothers me the most is that she did not try to confront him directly.

To give some context to what I’m about to say, I’m a girl: To me, just from the he said/she said provided it seems like this employee is being a little over sensitive. I wish it was more acceptable and encouraged in our culture to just TALK to the person. I have no problem pulling a coworker aside to talk to them and say “hey, I don’t know if you intended this, but it made me uncomfortable” with a witness or some proof that the conversation happened. If it continues, go to HR for mediation. I also have no problem doing what he did and apologizing to her face. But we’ve reached this point were everyone is expected to be emotionless, humorless robots. I 100% some things should not be talked about at work, but if we don’t enjoy coming to work at all, then what’s the point. Banter with my coworkers makes my day.

but you get rewarded for claiming harassment. You get more coverage, you make the company look benevolent when they fire the guy, you get compensation when doing this. At this point companies will have a major issue with team work. Since communication will go down the drain.

I was a little worried about what would happen when these assault/harassment cases reached the gaming industry. I'm one to believe "where there's smoke there's usually fire" especially in these recent cases with many victims coming forward. However, the gaming industry has become infested with overly-sensitive and dramatic people who play the oppression Olympics and think flirting is rape. Even if what this guy did was intentional and inappropriate for work, flirting with someone isn't sexual harassment if you don't give the person any indication it makes you uncomfortable or that you want them to stop. This guys texts don't prove he was appropriate, but they _do_ seem to prove that she accepted his statement that he was sorry and didn't realize he'd done anything wrong. If it's true that this was the end of their interactions, the problem was already solved. This feels a little like she's riding the wave of the Hollywood assault scandals. It's honestly maddening that people are protesting this guy and the company when they've literally seen ZERO evidence of this person's guilt. At least wait for some proof, it shouldn't be hard to supply at all. It's crazy how much social media is used to irreparably condemn people nowadays in place of actual legal judgement.

Uhh. Okay.. here's the deal. The very real and very disturbing sexual abuse/harassment cases that have been going on have all been legitimately sick and wrong. Those accusations were rightfully made. However with this woman in IGN, her case is in my opinion, not sexual harassment or abuse at all. I think that person who said those things to her is inappropriate and rude.. but it's nothing to at all comparable to what those actual sick bastards do. I'm a woman and if that happened to me I'd be pissed..but I wouldn't be making sexual abuse allegations when it never happened.

I mean I have jokes like that with my guy friends all the time whether it's at work or out, the guy clearly said he thought they had been close work friends so I wouldn't see something like that as creepy coming from a friend, hell even my girl friends have jokes like that too but it's not creepy sill cause we're friends. If she had just said she didn't like what he had said it wouldn't have been this big of a deal and to be fair he did stay away from her and only talked to her about work related things as she said herself, and on the thing she said about him sitting near her in meetings, I don't see the big deal because it's supposed to be a damn meeting like come on it's not some big party room, dude has to sit somewhere right.

Again we don't know how it got there. Maybe when he told her he could last all night, she was complaining that her boyfriend did not perform in bed. Maybe she was complaining that her boyfriend was playing on the PlayStation all day, at which he said "she needed a real man". He may be a total creep from what i know but it all depends on the dynamic of the relationship.

Why is everyone so afraid to make a statement that goes against what people think? As soon as one of there accusations of sexual harassment come out, it seems like it’s strictly off limits to question the validity of these claims. When you broke the story of this woman getting “sexually harassed” I was really skeptical as I was with the rest of these stories but, the way you presented the story made me feel like it was just some guy trying to get with a woman and the woman didn’t communicate with the guy who was hitting on her. Imo getting hit on should not be considered sexual harassment.

Ada No, it's not. It can be if they threaten you for not complying or continue to do so after you respond in the negative but it is not by default harassment of any kind. You don't know what harassment is if you're classifying it as harassment by default in which case I would suggest a dictionary. A legal one in particular. And no, it shouldn't be classified as harassment either.

What happened between the 2 IGN employees is actually ridiculous. How over dramatic can you get by saying his comments were 'manipulative and abusive comments'?!?! Vince said they discussed personal matters, perhaps she told Vince something that her boyfriend had done or said and Vince in response saying that he was a boy (or acting like a boy or in other words in a childish way and not like a grown adult - a man) because the way her boyfriend was treating her was not a way a man should treat his women. And the comment regarding the 'uncomfortable compliments' that he gave her, GOSH!!! If this is what sexual harassment is then I have been sexually harassed more times then I can remember.

This is not sexual harassment. It's horrifying that people have this viewpoint. I guarantee 90+% of the males that refused to work until the company issued an apology could be accused of the exact same thing at some point in their life. It's almost like we need to start inventing new words for 'sexual harassment', 'racism', 'sexism', etc. once people inevitably reduce the old ones to nothing.
