@@berniecindersbernie7711 But it wasn't introduced in the 1950's. Bit of a historical difference. The first P-51 entered service with the 26 Squadron of the RAF in January 1942. One of the more notable missions, Operation Jackpot 1944, the P-51 played a significant role in maintaining air superiority. Australia, Canada, France, South Africa all had received P-51's as the war was drawing to a close. That being said, the P-51 had quite a long service life until the 1970's. Impressive plane, although it initially was fitted with a poorly performing engine. Cheers, Sherlock.

For the c-17 landing, the full flaps will extend into the jet wash, directing it downwards creating upwards thrust. For landing one goes a lot of thrust with full flaps until touchdown, then full reverse thrust and brakes to allow for short landings

Landed and took off from Bradshaw in a C130 many times in the eighties. The training area is also called PTA. Po-ha-ku -low-ah is close enough.

Try Grafenwöhr Airfield ETIC in Germany. Even shorter and harder to come in low. Usually seen C130s out there but also C17s.

The majority of aircraft that will land at this airfield will be C-130's and Helicopters. SOP for most military airbases is for Helicopters to follow an approach to the runway just like an aircraft and hover taxi, following the taxiways, to the ramp. At least that's how it was when I was at Kadena, Futenma, CATC Fuji and Cherry Point.
