Yup, yup, yup - you guys will be so proud that I got this done. Finally after our big move, I was able to do a planned out once-a-month grocery shopping haul for our large family! I came in under budget at Aldi, got everything on my list, and spent $400 there. I then filled in some gaps at Walmart for around $220. Here's the full post with the cost break down bit.ly/HugeAldi...
be sure to check back soon for my once-a-month household haul and my large family meal plan for the month!

I'm not a mother, I was never home-schooled, I'm not a Christian, I'm not a part of a large family (nor do I have any plans for it currently). Despite all that, I absolutely love watching your videos!! You are just a delight to watch and I'm so impressed with how organized you are with your life and your family.

Me too! I'm a 39 year old single woman without children, not Christian, not homeschooled and I totally love Jamerrill! I have her videos while I cook or clean up the kitchen. I used to be fascinated by 19Kids & Counting, but Jamerrill is so much more real & down to earth. She HAS gotten me to shop at Aldi!!!

I love how you say you give yourself grace, you don't fall into the typical "mom" behavior of beating yourself up for "failing" to do everything from scratch! All moms should heed your example of this. Good job!

My children are grown and on their own but I too love this vlog! I was watching this one tonight and thinking "oh my goodness that's alot of money to spend on groceries!" but then sat back and did the math ;). Even with the fill-in $150 shopping, that makes it on average, for a family of 9....LESS than 95 cents a meal on average! Amazing!

Have you ever tried making your own yogurt? So yummy! Since the beginning of this year Aldi in my town has had milk for under $1 per gallon, and eggs for around .40 a dozen(sometimes less) Heat your milk to 180 degrees, then cool it to 110 degrees(I use a candy thermometer)add at least 1 tbsp of plain store bought yogurt per cup of milk(while milk is warm). Mix well (I use a wire whisk). Then let sit in a warm dark oven for 1-24 hours. Look for it to set up like store bought yogurt and it is done. My kids will put frozen/fresh fruit, jelly, honey, oatmeal, or granola in it. I you already know this than that's great!

I have one you might like. Depends on how much you have to make. 4 to ten box’s of stuffing, 3 to 7 cans of mushroom soup, skinless chicken breast cut in half, around four packages, if there is four or five in a pack, and shredded cheese or blocks if you want to shred it yourself. Mix stuffing with three cans of the soup and one an half can of water. Cut the chicken in half lay it on top of the stuffing in the pan. The add 3 more cans of soup on top, then add the cheese. Cover with tin foil and cook until done. Put the oven on about 350 degrees Celsius (I don’t know what it is in freinheight)

Your 20lbs of pintos made me think of bean dip and I think your family may really enjoy this recipe. It's my friend's and it's such a huge hit my kids will eat it for breakfast. lol! Taco sauce recipe 1 can tomato sauce 1 Tbl chili powder 1Tbl minced onion 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp oregano 1 tsp cumin Stir and let sit for at least 30 minutes so flavors can meld. Bean dip recipe 1 lb cooked pintos Taco sauce 1 cup cheddar Mash in skillet on low You'd probably have to double it though for your family. 😊 Oh! It freezes nicely as well!

We buy ground turkey for $1.50 a pound at wal mart and mix it in with our ground beef pound per pound to stretch the budget....I also add finely ground instant oats to big batch taco and chili meat and no one can taste a difference and it stretches the pricey beef yield a lot!
@TiaRaini81
@TiaRaini81 7 лет назад
I use my food processor. I first started doing it because my dad was dead set on having the chili no beans chili on his hot dogs. I decided for the price per can there had to be an at home version I could make cheaper. I read the ingredients of several brands and many of them used ground quick oats...thus I tried it and it disappears flavor wise, as long as your oats are not stale (made that mistake once... yikes) I kind of eyeball everything but if I am guessing I would say for each pound of ground beef/turkey mixture I add in about 1/2 cup ground oats. I started with closer to a cup but find it thickens the texture too much and so cut it in half. The ground turkey I find online grocery shopping is Festive so if your store has it, look into that. Many times my no bean chili or taco meat begins from a leftover or frozen big batch meat spaghetti sauce with added seasonings to it.

+The Encouraging Homeschool Mom I think it's pretty neat. We just moved from city life to slightly more country and I love it. Being close to nature is a gift. :)

Love your aldis videos. my favorite place to shop. I'm not sure if I could spend close to $800 total on a month and fill in shopping trip. your shopping bill is almost the same amount we pay for our apartment. Its great that you can buy everything you need for your family. :)

Now that you have a big yard, you could have the kids start a garden. Get some chicken s out there and you would save a lot of money. The kids would love that..

I love how that massive trip only took you 30 min...when I go to the store I get so distracted and end up shopping for at least an hour. For a family of 3. 😂 I need to learn your ways💜

Aldis is fantastic especially for large family. Im oldest of 6 kids so im quite familiar with cooking for a big family. Interesting enough took me a few years to realize 4lb meatloaves and 10lbs of mashed potatoes was overkill for a few adults. Lol. My mom used to freeze cheap bread (local store would do 4/1.00) but after a few weeks the bread would be hard and gross upon defrosting (almost like it was toasted) so i swore id never freeze bread. I have a small family now - just me and 2 growing boys - but i find getting to store difficult with demanding job and just us few. I found a local bakery outlet (not sure your location but mrs bairds is the goto brand in tx) and i can spend 20 bucks and walk away with a dozen loaves, some bagels, english muffins, etc. like 5 large bags worth. They sell orowheat bread there which is double wrapped and generally higher quality and denser breads and they freeze and thaw beautifully even months after purchase. You should look for similar

If you have left over taco shells, I've had them as a crumb on chicken. I don't remember the recipe off hand but I think it's similar to crumbing chicken the usual way, use crushed taco shells then bake in the oven. It might be worth looking up a recipe if it sounds interesting to you.

Hi Jamerrill...a suggestion for the zuchinni would be mexican meatballs or albondigas! I shred one into my ground beef for every 2lbs, also put in about 2 Tbls of uncooked rice...these 2 ingredients stretches your ground beef very well, and bonus, your getting more veggies into your kids! lol. I hope you will try them! Very tasty!
