To big load for my Yamaha Grizzly 700 in the mudd. When i got stuck in the mud with my Yamaha Grizzly 700, and winch out by my friend on a Can-am. Follow me on Instagram: / projectoftheday
Just a suggestion... Please throw something over the middle of your winch cable (a coat or warn winch line dampner) when winching out. I've seen a number of winch lines snap, and when you are in a 4x4 vehicle, it's dangerous enough. On a 4wheeler, you have no protection from the cable when it snaps and recoils at you. Cool vid. Please be safe.
You're right. I have seen it happen. All you have to do is throw a branch over it, and that's enough to absorb the energy. Carhart jackets are perfect for that.
I really enjoyed that video! That looked like a lot of fun! I've had my grizz 700 for nearly 8 years now and still running strong as day 1! Enjoy yours!
When you couldnt pull that trailer though the ditch.... why didn't you use low range and lock the front diff??? That stuff is there for a reason. Also, if you used low range the bike would run at higher RPMS and make the whole thing a lot smoother of a ride. It wouldn't be so jerky all the time.
Hello. I had low gear and diff when I tried to get over the ditch. Then a little further I have not the diff. I sat and waited a bit and played with the button, without thinking me for..... :( Then trailer probably weighed 2500-3000lbs I think. But now I have solved it :D have drive on the trailer wheels now so I get 8 wheel drive.... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8wJ88Oy_nAc.html
Thats what my trails look like for getting wood ...I use a Ohio Steel wagon...I move nothing anywhere near what your doing lol ...Awesome Vid...glad I found someone with same conditions I deal with.
That’s definitely using it as a utility machine. I’ve pulled logs like that on a Suzuki kingquad 300. I’d put it in super low with diff lock and it could pull almost anything. Stuck twice as often with only 19hp but it amazed me with what it could do.
Just a kind bit of advise when tugging an Atv and it in your case an Atv and a loaded trailer. The front bike should only be used as a static anchor. With the winch cable secured to the anchor, pulling can start with the stuck bike turning its tires slightly using engine power while activating the winch. As the bike and trailer start to move the static bike can then begin to keep the cable tight and slowly bring power on to assist the stuck unit The anchor bike must keep the line taught between the two so that when it comes under power he is not jerking at the winch is this is the primary cause of winch failure on the stuck bike. This jerking motion is much greater than what the planetary and sun gear can handle casing them to fail completely. This is completely avoidable if handled correctly. Your winch will last for years with adequate service.
the independent rear suspension doesnt allow to get traction to all tires and does wheelies thats why you get a straight axle honda and NO ONE IS NOT STUPID ENOUGH TO NOT KNOW YOUR QUAD HAS LOW RANGE yet the belt is still weak
You want to see Honda vs Can-Am. Look up youtuber "Christian Amy" you will find a youtuber named "Mud Puppy" as that is what he changed his name to on RU-vid, But you can't find him unless you search for "Christian Amy" He will show you the difference between Honda and Can-Am. He is 100% the reason i'd never buy a Can-Am. From here on out, it is Honda, Yamaha, and Polaris for me.
THE PICKLETON17 "independent rear suspension doesn't allow to get traction to all tires"... lol Even though a straight axel is better for hauling wood because of its strength. It will not have the traction like a independent would. Independent will always have the tires on the ground. Where as a straight solid axel wont when its tipped just a little on its side. One tire will be in the air.
And when he needs a new grizzly he gives this one as down payment to the dealership... There they clean and polish it and tell the prospect buyer " like new-the previous owner only drove to church with it...-see...very low milages.... That is the reason I am very scaptical about buying these ATV used.... The video is just great, because it shows us,how sturdy and robust these ATV are-the trailer also is an amazing piece-great axles.... But we all know about two bad dudes.....Wear and Tear......and they will come-with this kind of work rather earlier than later.......
@@tightenyochain856grom6 bollocks!! Bought an 98 wolverine back 20 years ago and have hauled big loads of timber rounds out of similar ground and all I’ve had to do to it was replace steering bushes and swing arm bushes, new clutch basket and plates, and replace transmission bearings and seals and with a engine service every 6 months it will probably be around for another 20 years. So not all second hand quads are scrap!!😜
LOVE :) your videos, pretty heavy loads, love getting out for wood with my ATV and my skidoo in winter, with snow on the ground here for just about 6 months I use my skidoo more than my ATV, I just don't like to be cutting wood when I could be fishing lol!
I use a 700 for some pretty extreame hunting. Impressed with what are doing and your setup. I recently fitted 28" tyres. Cant think of the name of them but big fuck off mud lugs. Any way by far the best thing I ever did the quad is more stable and where I got stuck with the tyres you have I can now get through in 2wd. I'd highly recommend 28" heavy side wall tyres. The down side is you do notice the change in gearing and given your are towing heavy loads it may work your clutch pretty hard.
Project of the day Well how about that I did not know there was such a thing. I'm getting away with it for what Im doing but use low range off road pretty much everywhere. Thanks for your heads up.
I've been doing this with REAL logs (maple, hickory, beech, oak.... HARDwoods, not that light evergreen stuff) some over 18" diameter/20 ft. long, for nearly 20 years with a 2001 HONDA foreman 450. Kenda Bearclaw tires and homemade skidding arch.
That was a great video that how you work that machine it can handle great machine i can watch video like this every night thank for sharing whatever the negative comment , cheer's
My 350 rancher would probably act the same just by pulling that empty trailer...lol. That 700 is a hoss. Get yourself a couple snatch blocks and you won’t need another atv but yes it’s helpful and smart to have another man and vehicle just in case.
Interesting video, thanks. Very challenging topography there. Looks like ADKs or Canada. Neat log carrier. Very useful and creative. Great solution for low impact, low volume logging. One less 1,000-pound log on that trailer would probably make the going much easier. But it's enjoyable seeing you guys use all available tools to succeed.
I try to tell everybody who does stuff like this: The machine can pull anything, it's the momentum that will literally kill you. Coming for 35 years of heavy ATV use, don't pull heavy loads in non-braked wheeled trailers.
@E C Great advice. Tell that to the dozens of non-stupid people who nearly get killed every year do that. Keep up your "duhhhh...I've done it for years and didn't die...duhhhh" thought process. Everybody we put back together say the say thing: "I've done it that way for years". The old saying hold strong: Sh*t happens.
@E C I do know 2 people who have been injured badly. Also, you are reading too far into this, or just being a straight up A-hole. I didn't say "DO THIS...YOU GET KILLED...DUHHHH". You dreamed that up with your limited cognitive ability, or lack thereof. I simply stated a fact that could keep a receptive (not stupid) person from making a bad mistake.
Have had it for 4 years now and haven't had any issues. But will surely get to change any time soon. $100 for a new and 20 min to change after 4-5 years is not a big problem
The CVT system on the Yamaha Grizzly is literally LIGHT YEARS ahead of everyone else. It's a shame that none of the other companies have reverse engineered it and used a similar system. I had an 04 Grizzly 660 that I pounded the piss out of. I bought it new, and sold it 10 years later. I only changed the belt on it because i was curious how bad it was worn, and the guys at the shop showed it to me, and it wasn't that bad. Yamaha's CVT is IMPRESSIVE. It is so durable it seems more like something you would find on a honda. ...
I was thinking the same thing. like that trailer and 3 logs is over the limit. the fact that he only needed to be winched what two times is impressive.
I did the same thing with my brute force 750. But I didn't have a trailer just dragged 18 inch in diameter 12 foot long hardwoods across my 5 acres. Little 4wd Mitsubishi wouldn't get it done lol.
All true, but it’s nice to see him overload it so we can see for ourselves what the capabilities of this machine can handle and I’m impressed with all that weight, it seemed to do rather well.
Huh? Have you priced a "cheap" log skidder that actually runs well? It's a lot more money than an ATV and wagon. And a lot more work to maintain. And a lot more impact on the ground. There's a big place for this kind of low impact logging. Logging isn't always about most efficient time.
