I know you love movies, but I can’t believe how cultured and knowledgeable you are about so many movies and so much movie related history, especially for your age. It’s pretty amazing!

You have to check out Time Addicts, mate. A small science fiction flick about two junkies who basically get hold of time-travel meth... and then the movie delivers an amazing amount of character development and emotional depth. It does a hell of a lot with a little. I'm so glad Umbrella releases movies like this.

You are correct Heath. We have so many movies that are being released that there is no room to complain about extra features. We hardly have any time in our life to keep up with these releases.

...and appreciate your end comments. We used to have to seek out film in TV guide and local papers, and had to sometimes set our alarms to get up in the middle of the night just to watch! I appreciate our access and variety all the time!

So much of this stuff is coming out is an understatement. Time and money are finite.

I used to look forward to winding down on Sunday night and watch Siskel and Ebert review movies. Watching the latest CAM updates has proven to be a great replacement to continue in that tradition!

I genuinely feel bad when I hear about interesting titles like Meet John Doe not meeting sales expectations but things have gotten so that I can only support a handful of releases a year. I'm way behind. The money and time is just not there. The odd irony is that this is an amazing time for younger cinema fans with disposable income but that's a shrinking market, especially for older titles. I've spent a small fortune on inferior releases going back to the 80s (often multiple versions). Can't imagine getting blu-ray or 4K editions as your first purchase. One and done. That must be awesome.

Thanks for the new release showcase, Heath! I just got in Meet John Doe, along with Blonde Ice. Can't wait to give them a watch. Only thing with Classic Flix is, I have most of their releases now. So even though I want to support, I don't really have a way to until new stuff comes out. I do wish more people bought their titles in general though.

Hey Heath, I agree with your assertion that we put too high an expectation on movies! I've got a ton of movies that a lot of ppl would say is not very good, but I enjoyed them! I love all sorts of movies, & even if they're not top notch, I can still enjoy them! Thanks for all your great videos about the movies!

That French thriller 3 film box set looks interesting. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

It should be noted that John Farrow was married to Maureen O'Sullivan (Jane in the MGM Tarzan films) and among their children was actress Mia Farrow. Also, THE HITLER GANG has been a hard film to find. This may be the first disc release of the film, maybe even the first home video release. If not, previous releases are long out of print and scarce as hen's teeth.

Four of the five titles in that John Farrow box set are making world-wide Blu-ray debuts (NIght Has a Thousand Eyes being the outlier). Not sure about DVD, but it's very well-curated box set that I'm so glad has been produced.

My only complaint is after buying a house and in the middle of renovations I am forced to live vicariously thru channels like this because can't afford barely any of these releases right now, just hope there are still sweet releases in 5 to 10 years, or some of these are still available by then, lol ugh!

Not really complaining, I have a couple thousand films in my collection, just pretty sparce on the "boutique labels" so many I would love to have, but oh well. Lol maybe one day!

Love your videos letting us know what is newly available. I have many Classic Flix releases and was happy to pre-order Meet John Doe. It was disappointing that the 4K was cancelled but I'm glad to have the Blu Ray restoration of this great film.

I ordered the French revenge film set, the John Farrow set, the Abashiri Prison set (Ken Takakura was a wildly popular action star in Japan in the 1960s/1970s), I love Lillian Gish and Pola Negri so I'm getting their Alpha movies, and I've ordered A Queen's Ransom I haven't seen the Abashiri Prison films yet but I'm excited to do so and hope they'll release them all. They are legendary in Japan. The next batch of Imprint releases are mostly horror/mystery related and are right down my alley. Thanks as always for your great videos!

Great comments from you, as usual. A lot of nice words on how lucky we are to be able to access so many films these days. Just a few decades ago, even in the early 2000s, you would hear stories of filmmakers going to film festivals or massive video stores with extremely rare prints or copies of films that few had access to - just to see something they wanted to see so much, perhaps even a Bergman film or the like. These days, it is now the golden age for film fans. This is true for physical media fans and supporters as well as streaming fans. We have more access across the board to films - and more options for how to view them. Whether it be on physical media with Blu-ray or 4K or streaming or even at the multiplex - the options far exceed previous eras. Film fans have it lucky these days - I like to think of it as an embarrassment of riches.

Heath, I had some feeling that Tank Girl w/ Lori Petty was supposed to be a semi-sequel to In The Army Now w/ Paulie Shore. I could be totally wrong.

I can personally attest that I will buy any film I love and I’m especially excited for more of these classic releases and I couldn’t care less about any special features whatsoever as I mostly don’t watch any of them. I just want the film itself in the best possible picture & sound quality with some nice cover art and possibly a slip cover if available so special features play no part of my decision to buy films on physical media.

I only saw Tank Girl a few years ago and loved it and picked it up on blu ray. It definitely would not fly today. One of the jokes she says is that she’s going to say what she did when she lost her virginity-“daddy, are you sure this is right?”

Meet John Doe is one of the strangest movies l have ever seen. I am still not sold on Frank Capra's work. MJD is another of his films that starts out as one kind of film, then does a 180 about halfway through, and has a huge swing in tone. Capra seems good at this, but it doesn't always make for a valued viewing experience.
