Just to give a little insight on KA thinking. McCloud is going in likely as 3rd line center, but also is excellent on pk. Sabres pk has sucked for years, I'm sure that's the reason for bringing him in. Along with the Sabres logjam of young talent ready for the NHL made Savoie expendable. And coach Ruff prefers big bodies which obviously Savoie isn't. Great stuff buddy, keep it coming!
@@toddq7943 I see why they like mcleod. but it’s bad asset management. savoie could have fetched a much higher return. it’s not that they got mcleod, it’s that they only got him and a nothing prospect.
For the oilers this is fantastic. Savoie is on a 3 year entry level contract so that’s less than a million on the oilers books and they can grow him in Bakersfield. The oilers have so much depth right now there’s no rush to call him up. They could play him in the minors for a bit and see how it goes.
Holy shit guys he's a great prospect yes but listen he wasn't making the team in the next two years! We needed a 3rd line c and we got that now. He was are thrid or 2nd best prospect. The prospects this team has right now this isn't as big of a deal as people are making it
@andrewbeltz7978 I made the same exact point, I'm with ya on this one cause sabres still have great prospects and sometimes you gotta give a little to get other needs. What are sabres going to do bury savoie in the minors NOPE eventually he is going to need a opportunity clearly he ain't getting it in buffalo
Savoie has 1 game in the NHL, then he was sent back to the minors. He's 5'9" and 179lbs. he better be fast. Buffalo could use a third line center with speed and that's what they got, cost them Savoie, eh. Savoie could be an all star in the AHL. Maybe the NHL but no guarantees.
He's a great prospect but he's also been hurt back to back years. And the Sabres needed a third line C and this helps us now. He's a great prospect but our prospect poop is stacked right now
I like this deal for Buffalo. Trading a strong prospect like Savoie’s sucks but we still have 5 prospects similar. Rosen, Kulich, Ostlund, Benson and Helinius are all similar type players. Where do they all play? You gotta give to get. McCloud fills a much need role plus he’s a great penalty killer. Krebs? Have you watched hockey. He simply has not developed. And what’s wrong with a solid #3 centermen?
@@krt88nc I think he was pointing out that it is illogical to justify making a terrible trade just because you have more good prospects left in the system. Adams couldn't get a fair trade? If not don't make the trade.
Kevyn Adams is black-balled. Other GMs don’t return his phone calls. He has to overpay to do anything. At least Buffalo got a 3C. I like Savoie a lot, but he’s not going to be ready for a while. He’s really small, going to take a few seasons in the AHL for him to get bigger and learn.
@@doaftheloafjust like Beck Malenstyn he's about to break out. Both fast smart hockey players. Savoie hurts but we should be playoff contenders and plenty of good prospects
@@LaurieTaylor-ps7qv And they'll be tougher to play against thanks to some of the acquisitions (not McCleod, necessarily, but he will help improve them defensively).
The Sabres are literally 20+ deep in prospects without Savoie, plus they have younger guys like Quinn, Peterka, Benson, and even Cozens is only 23. Plus, they have 10 picks in the 2025 draft as of now. Savoie can be replaced. Overpayment? Absolutely, but the Sabres need to improve the team now, which fans have been demanding. Adams has definitely improved the bottom-6, which was a necessity. There could still be a trade or two yet to come - the season doesn't start tomorrow.
Seriously, I think everyone needs to calm down. Savoie was very likely heading to Rochester this year. At this point, he's been passed in the depth chart by several such as Kulich. We have our top 2 centers so there just isn't much room for him (maybe as a winger?). I would've liked to see a little more come back, but honestly, if we get a #3 center out of it (which was a need), then this trade is fine. Sure, we don't know if that's what we're getting, but let this year play out. I'd like to see a top 6 left winger come via another trade and there's a whole offseason for that to happen. This video is less than an hour old. Let's determine the winner and loser after this season (or later).
Na bro BUF messed this one up. Mcloed 3rd line center? Nope. I get it too many prospects but could have got a way better return. This one gonna age ugly for BUF. Mistake
Totally disagree. Savoie is comparable to Kulich and Benson in our prospect rankings. Savoie could potentially take over as a first line RW in 2-3 years. This video has a good take on the trade.
I feel like it sucks now but it makes sense cause buffalo has TOO many skilled high end offensive prospects and needs a size pk specialist on their bottom 6, for savoie their is no room for him in buffalos top 6 future
@danevertt3210 how about my first point TOO MANY HIGH END PROSPECTS sure adams could've gotten more but sabres need more speedy, size, and grit like players gotta give a little to get the needs besides their still kulich, helenius, Benson made the team, and more. Savoie needs opportunity anyway not all prospects will play for the team they get drafted too
@@danevertt3210 show facts why this trade is bad for real, in case you didnt hear me sabres needed a 3rd line C like Mcleoud for playoffs cant score your way to the playoffs other wise your sabres will be toronto 2.0.
@@danevertt3210 if the trade said savioe for future considerations THATS NOTHING then I wouldn't be here. Clearly you have no logic its all bias just hearin your yap
I think it's a great trade. Buffalo has many of the same type of small skilled forwards. And if you gotta overpay a little bit to get what you want, so be it besides Buffalo Needed a number 3 Line center. Yeah, he doesn't finish a gas stats. What the video says, but I don't expect the guy to score 60 goals either.
You’ve yet to mention and I am more than halfway through your video that Savoie is severely injury prone dude never starts a season and I think this is the first year. He finished one.
I'm going to love watching the Oilers come up short again this year AND watching Toronto get eliminated in the first round again. This season can't come fast enough
As a thirty year Sabres fan, I'm disgusted with the state of the team. I'm getting progressively closer to switching to the Leafs as my primary team to rout for after so many years behind the blue and gold.
The Sabre's have enough pipsqueak's stockpiled in their pipeline. Despite a high draft status, Savoie has shown absolutely nothing in the 2 years since he was drafted, Win for Buffalo, imo
Those two will help improve the team this season. A second round pick and Savoie won't do that. Fans wanted changes in the lineup and they are getting that, but they still complain.
@@comicbookcountdown9252 with respect, Buffalo fans have every right to criticize these moves. This offseason we’ve gotten rid of productive players, early draft picks and top prospects, only bring in middling NHL talents. McLeod lost his 3C role in EDM, and was widely discussed as a possible cap dump this Summer. Arizona could hardly give Zucker away at the TDL last year, and Melenstyn has played the vast majority of his professional career in the AHL. I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that no other team, or no other GM, would have made these moves.
🥳PLAY LA BAMBA BAYBEEEE 🥳as an Oilers fan I'M SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!YAASSSSSSSSS BUFFALO TAKE THIS NON SCORING, NON PUCK BATTLE WINNING, NON DOING ANYTHING SOFT STICK OF BUTTER BUFFALO BUTTER STICK MCLEOD WOOO HOOOOOO !!!!!!!!! ONLY OILERS FANS KNOW THE PAIN OF WATCHING MCLEOD!!!!!!!🥳🥳🥳
