Wolves had low key one of the most exciting seasons of anyone in the Premier League, a constant rollercoaster of VAR decisions, referee incompetence, injury, last minute change of manager, manager gets linked to Man Utd, a cup run, maybe being in the frame for europe, and of course injuries. In this video i review Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League 23/24 season under Gary O'Neil

Gary did a phenomenal job with the guys he was given. It's a shame that we only got 4 points from our final 12 games and injuries finally caught up with us. Don't forget there was a 2 month period where Cunha, hwang and Neto were all injured. That right there is enough to sink any ship. I really look forward to seeing what we manage to do with a full preseason and some money behind him.

Great video, our injuries absolutely killed our season. Our owners at the moment are so tight with money. And our chairman is hated by our fans. So next season will be a toxic mess..

Love what you said about mosquera, he and chiquinho are two players us wolves fans hope to see in the team next year.

It could go either way, if fosun back the manager we should have a decent season but if we sell and don't invest we are going to be in trouble. The chairmen needs to be replaced! he couldn't run a piss up in a brewery.

Good analysis on our season, some very bad VAR and injuries kept the team on the back foot for periods in the season, but overall played great football and got important results. A few of the players on loan like Mosquera are being looked at during the summer and will add to the squad if good enough. A few key additions and we may look upwards this season!

As a Wolves fan, I really enjoyed your in depth analysis of our season. One other player I would add into the conversation in our 2023/24 season is Rayan Ait-Nouri. He was largely ignored under Lopetegui but under Gary O’Neill he blossomed into a stellar performer. Ps. Tommy Doyle has been permanently signed by the club.

Theres a lot to like at Wolves since O’Neil has come in. Theres a togetherness about the squad again that had kinda disappeared a little over time, this lot are working for each other. Goals as you point out are now much less of a worry than they once were, although we do desperately NEED a defined No9, I think they club have finally understood this and expect to see that tackled imminently. Depth of squad is clearly our major issue, we had a 15yr old on the bench in one game as we have no depth whatsoever. If Neto goes that should enable the purchase of maybe three players as I’m envisaging £45-50m for him, I think his injury history devalues him. Our other major issue is the ownership, they have seriously P!SSED the fans off with the Season Ticket pricing and many are not renewing in protest (theres a huge wait list to swallow those though) but comments from FOSUN suggest they’re happy just ticking along hopefully mid-table and its not going down well. We have a great manager in O’Neil, respected and very well liked, if we can back him properly, challenging for Europe should 100% be our aim.

Been a Wolves fan all my life since my dad and uncle first took me to a game in 1970....I'm afraid they're a buy and sell club which is why they will never win a major trophy. They also have tight fisted Chinese owners and a poor recruitment team which is a recipe for disaster.Wasting money is another worry for me.Spending 30-35 million on crap like Fabio Silva is a major concern.

Appreciate the insight and review. The way the season ended was a bummer for a lot of fans but it shouldn’t take away from what the players and GON did. This team always gave this 100% and never quit. You highlighted the main problem, the lack of depth. The FA cup run/mid weeks ran this team ragged. Losing Cunha/Neto/Hwang for multiple weeks put this team in a tough spot where they were relying on kids who never played PL before to score. Some games Ait Nouri and Lemina even had to be pushed up the field. GON pleaded with the front office for attacking players in January but reinforcements did not come. My only hope is that management sees that if quality money is well spent this could be a top 8 club. Unfortunately, I just do not know if Fosun is willing to do that.. Either way, COYW! 🐺

Thanks very much mate for the comment! Some great intel in there! Btw Guedes looked great at times if Neto doesn't leave he'd be a great shift mate if he can play like that under GON

good analysis - some reasons to be optimistic for the next season - transfer window is one of the most important for years
