You can tell by the way she walks after the procedure how much pain relief she received from releasing all that trapped fluid. And I just love how much compassion he displayed while he did it. He acknowledged her suffering from a really empathetic POV. Some farmers/vets perform tasks like these by rote, desensitised to their stock as living, feeling animals. He managed to maintain his sensitivity while performing this job - even though he has probably done this hundreds of times. If he has children, I bet he's a really good dad.

It’s typically a result of a rock of some form getting stuck in their hoof and the tissue growing back around it so although it seems like he’s damaging her even more, it’s sooort of like having an unknown splinter in your finger that hurts from time to time when you put pressure on it, but once you realise and pull it out, sure, there might be some blood but the relief is so much greater So yes, I can assure you this guy knows what he’s doing, the cows are all good! :)

I just watched some guy dealing with a gross, pus-filled cow foot.... and watched the entire video because of the care and genuine compassion he had for the animal. Not sure if I'll watch another one, but it was definitely interesting and heart warming.

Yeah watching that type of "gore" isn't for everyone, but it's the type of gore you can enjoy. Nobody did this to these cows, all it's about is making them better 😀 it's a learning experience for most where they get to see things most people don't normally get to. This world of ours is beautiful and strange in equal measure. Don't even get me started on how those hooves look when animals with them are just born lmao. When you open your mind to things you've never considered or experienced before it fuels so many other thoughts and opportunities in the future. Lots of discoveries and advancements have come from accidents or people being curious in general. Everyone is capable of great ideas, just not a lot of them are good at realizing it or taking advantage of it.

I understand *exactly* what you meant at the end. I was a massage therapist specializing in trauma & pain management for people with cancer/lupus/etc., amputees, wounded veterans, the elderly, etc. I treated an 85 yo woman with a twisted spine who had to sleep upright in a chair. To see her lie flat after 2 weeks of bodywork was beyond rewarding. It was beautiful. It fed my soul. Thank you for all you do for these wonderful animals! 🤍 You’re the best trimmer on YT! I watch every day. It calms me. 🥰 Be well, sir.

My grandparents were dairy farmers and they treated their cattle with care. A happy healthy cow produces more milk and better quality milk

@@plaguedoctor5145 yeah. In my grandparents case I'd reckon that you are on the money. Their farm was like many in the old days. They had somewhere around 100 head of cattle and milk at sunup and sunset. It was a manual job with them handling each cow twice a day. I've milked cows myself and you get to know their personality. Some want attention and some not so much.a young nervous Heifer with its first calf can be quite a protective mum. If you don't try to get to understand them you run the risks of getting hurt. Most of my grandparents cattle were very happy as my grandparents both gave them lots of ear scratches or rump scratches and fed them grain and molasses while milking them. It's a lot easier to handle any animal if it trusts you and my grandfather used to do a lot of the medical treatment his livestock required

I'm in the vet field. He talks of the satisfaction of seeing her walk better, not perfect but better.....I have had the same feeling when relieving the pressure of an abscess on an animal.....the pain is alleviated somewhat..... abscess cleaned and treated..... antibiotics in.....and pain relief administered.....a bit of satisfaction felt... Love these videos.....takes pride in his work and gives a great explanation of what he is doing for them. Awesome 😎

To anybody who's ever had an access pop....the release of pressure can be almost....euphoric....it feels like the biggest relief on earth. That was some INTENSE pressure inside that foot.

@@greendholia5206 Yes. A few. They were from injecting drugs, I believe in being honest, so here it is. When you are injecting heroin and cocaine and you get some of the liquid in the needle outside of the vein it can cause abcess. They are EXTREMELY painful, as bad as a broken bone pain wise... Take care. I had several of them in the first few years of my iv drug use as I had no clue on how to inject properly. It's been alot of years since I've had one, and I'm on methadone to curb appetite for street drugs and trying to get my life together now.

I had an infected finger that the dr refused to pop so i went home and got a needle and popped it myself it went from being so painful i was crying to me not even feeling it. Tons of pus and blood kind of wish i had gotten it on video

She have a voice! You can hear her moans of pain! Non-human animals are not voiceless! Cows bellow when their babies are abducted and pigs scream as they go into gas chambers. Fishes use vibrations in their swim bladders to communicate with one another, birds sing songs and cats and chickens purr when happy. Other animals may communicate non-verbally. While some of these forms of communication may not be what we traditionally call "voices", it's important we recognize the legitimacy of non-verbal communication and the legitimacy of communication beyond the human species. Calling other animals 'voiceless' undermines their individuality and agency

Anyone who's ever had an abscess knows how much pain and pressure it causes, and how much relief you feel when the fluid inside the abscess is released. Now imagine if you weighed 1000 pounds and the abscess was on the bottom of your foot.

Not only the bottom of the foot, but inside of a hard-walled foot, so there is limited ability for it to swell outward, so all the pressure pushed in. Ouch! In skin, abscesses can cause the soft tissue to bulge out and only put part of the pressure on the inside.

@@KindCountsDeb3773 I grew up around cows, so that grassy large-animal barnyard odor is almost comforting to me. The only thing that really stinks is fresh manure, but even then it's more of a sharp smell than a reek.

My neighbor on our farm has about 60 and he really looks after them. They are like dogs where they remember who feeds them and cares for them. Every time my neighbor goes from his house to his truck all 60 of them run up to him and follow him around, it's adorable.

I have viewed numerous Farriers and the procedures in detail through these videos. I will say, and I'm not a very complimentary, that you are the ONLY true professional Farrier I've had the pleasure or displeasure of watching. You care of these animals, your precision, patience, and technique place you far above your fellow Farriers. I no longer watch other's videos as they seem quite "barbaric" when compared with you and your style of care. God will bless you greatly because you truly care for His animals; it's a reflection on how much you enjoy your job!

Your kitties won't be getting a bolt to the brain when they reach 5 years old, unlike this cow. They also don't get artificially inseminated twice a year and have their children taken away for slaughter in order to continue to produce milk.

I completely understand what you are trying to say at the end of the video. In my job working with kids who have autism and behavior issues, I get the same type of...immense satisfaction is the phrase I believe you used...when a client signs "more" instead of screaming and grabbing. Your heart just feels full in a way that others cannot appreciate unless they experience it.

Not ashamed to admit, I cried watching this…that painful “loooo’ing” she was doing at first is just heartbreaking, and it’s a sound you never forget. That’s a cow in extreme pain & it wrenches on my heartstrings in a big way. I’m so thankful for you guys & the wonderful farmers who take such good care of their cattle & know to call you in to help. ❤️👨‍⚕️👨‍🌾🐮

@@stocktonjoans i mean, everyone is different of course. I’ve got more skin issues than there are varieties of cheese but I’m not screeching and howling every bit of the day about it. But it takes a lot of grit to get through pain. And… Let’s be perfectly honest. Nobody. Likes being in pain. … We both know that one’s wrong on my end but you get the point anyways I’m sure. I’m happy this guy does what he does, and honestly, it’s a bit frightening what some animals might be put through in worse conditions. I may eat my fair share of meat and stuff but I’m also no heartless savage either. I don’t like seeing animals in pain, plain and simple.

Before I found your channel I didn't even know that cows needed their hooves taken care of. Now, I know that fact, you've showed us the equipment, explained a lot of the terminology and let us watch you repair quite a few hooves. There are a lot of great comments praising your dedication to your profession and the animals you help. I know there are those that don't believe in what you do or mock you but please ignore their ignorance. Listen too those of us that care. We're the ones that matter.

@@katherineberger6329 Been there, done that with a DEEP plantar wart during treatment. Not quite liquid, but the pressure and pain from the deep tissue damage required to annihilate the infected skin was horrific. That must have felt SOOOO good to relieve.

I recently took one of my cats, Rio, to the vet for a wellness exam. He is 11 years old now, and I worry sometimes. I waited in the car, and when the vet came out, he was BEAMING. His smile was huge. I was so happy when he told me that Rio was in wonderful health and was probably one of the best looked after cats he sees. I TOTALLY understand the feeling you get when you say that seeing an animal better off because of your actions.

I just took my ferret for a wellness exam. I had to wait in the car too. I can’t wait until people can go inside the vets again! It’s so stressful for an animal to just be handled by strangers in a strange place.
