I came here because of The Hoof GP, and I have to say, I'm very impressed. I like the way you work on the cows. It sounds funny, but it's almost tenderly, as you can see how some of them are in so much pain! Others I've watched seem so rough, and don't seem to care about the cows comfort, only the job in hand. Yowza, big props to you for doing a job I never could. I attended a horse-shoeing once and the STENCH that came up from the burning horn as the shoe was attached damn near made me offload my breakfast. I can just imagine the reek of cow-beshitted hoof being hit with the angle grinder, and then to do that 40 more times in a day (or more for all I know) not to mention what an infected abscess spraying cow-pus right into you face must smell (and taste?) like. Could NOT do it. /Salute to you who can.

After seeing dogs and cats limping and 3-legged most of my life, I was surprised at how much seeing a cow struggling because one foot was too painful to put on the ground broke my heart. I’ve had a 3-legged dog and it didn’t slow him down. Thanks for what you do for these poor cows. Merry Christmas to you and yours.

I've watched prob 20 hours of hoof trims from YT to tiktok and you sir with out a doubt are the most gentle on the cows I've ever watched.

I'm glad she was able to recover so well. I'm happy that these girls get the treatment as soon as possible when problems arise like this. I had a brief moment of panic when part of the pedal bone was mentioned being eaten away by the infection. Bad experience with horses because of this kind of issue I used to ride at a riding school and there was one horse that was treated a little different to the rest because of his circumstances (couldn't do the work he was initially intended for by his owner, and then couldn't integrate into the riding school herd because he was not quite the tallest, but heaviest and a bit of a bully to other horses). Everyone knew that I had a way with him and treated him like my own when I was able to get up there. Used to assist out trekking because he was very sensible, his height gave me great vantage over everyone else and presence. I knew that he had sensitive feet because of the time... and one summer I'd been constantly mentioning to the yard staff to get the farrier out for him. All his feet were making the tell tale sound of the double clip clop; That usually means a worn and loose shoe that no longer fits. A few weeks went by and he'd lost a shoe and I was forced to ride him out with only 3, he was super sore so I had to guide him on the softest, even ground. I brought it up again, because he'd go lame at that point. Came back a week later and wondered why he was in the main barn: Well he didn't usually do much work during the week so he didn't get checked as often. Only when they were moving his herd did they realise he was hopping lame. Shoe twisted, nail right through the sole near the frog. Terrible infection. They poulticed for a week to no avail and they had to take him to a specialst equine vet; the infection had basically all but turned his pedal bone to cheese. No way out for a horse of 850 kilos and they had to euthanise him. Still makes me angry to this day because he was so good for tall or larger novices, and that I'd warned them for weeks he needed it.

seems as though the cows need a tighter regimen of examinations and trims. this doesnt happen in a week- it took weeks. all that time any of her handlers could have noticed and called for a trim. this is sad. you guys are great and professional but the cows you work on seem to be neglected to a point that nate's are not. you all know to whom i am referring. thanks for the vids guys:}

This is the first episode I watched of your channel. I've been a fan of the Hoof GP. I wonder how many hoof trimmers are there and do they need more. The dairy industry makes all the various types of milks and cheeses. Its good that there are the trimmers to give these cows and the bulls relief I just wonder if there are enough of you and the other trimmers to give the relief they need.
