On the stretch of river running through Heber Springs, there are 4 walk in access areas. Each of them have plenty of shoal area to get out and wade. JFK park, Cow Shoals, Barnett Access, and Libby Shoals. If you’ve never been on the Little Red before, I recommend JFK Park at the Dam. It’s a beautiful area with plenty of shoals to spread out away from other anglers. They charge a fee now to access that area, I believe it’s only $5, but well worth it. All of the other walk in access are free to use at this time.

Go down Hatchery road in Heber Springs. If you go past the boat launch then you’ve gone too far.

What is the regulations there. Catching and release? Barbless? Are there size limits? Have a trip planned for July on the greers ferry and would love to do some trout fishing.

Hello Eric! This trip was mostly fished at the second pipe outlet down river from Greers Ferry Dam. The entire section of the river from the JFK boat launch up to the dam is great fishing. Be certain you’re fishing under the regulated conditions, so not to catch any fine from a game warden. Best of luck to you brother! I’ll be making many more fly fishing content once the weather begins cooperating; be sure to keep an eye out for them in the near future, as I’ll be giving advice and showing other great locations along that river.
