Once you've set your wheel give it a little tug, that might help it settle on the bottom. Just an idea. Great video. Stay safe.

from my heart, I thank you and Sam for sharing your outings with us. Congrats on the huge crab. I have some physical issues keeping me from getting out and crabbing, fishing. But all my gear is ready. Watching these great shots of crab eating in the net have shown me a new trick to try. I got out once, but accidentally put the video on facebook instead of youtube. Here is what I learned.... as you've seen, when a second crab comes to eat, it runs away, or chases the one that is eating away So I put 3 bait latches in different parts of the net. So when I do get out, and the crab are moving, more than 1 can be caught at a time. And I wish you would try the trick I told you to get more meat, and easier, from the leg pods. Again, remove legs, then put the joints down, and cut the leg pod in half. The meat nearly falls out in clumps. We can keep females here. Most we put back. But we do keep every 4th or 5th one, as long as it is not showing an egg sponge. There are enough females left to support the future. And if you think male crab eat is sweet, the female meat is 2 or 3 times sweeter. But I respect your conservation efforts Cheers from The Mississippi Gulf Coast USA ~rad~

Doggo got lucky, He was Probably sucked out by a Rip-tide. those are dangerous, lucky for him the coast was covered with rocks that more then likely Broke the Suction of the tide. Nice looking crab by the way :-)

During the quarantine, I've become a glutton for catch and cook vids. Love the energy between you guys. And your vids are very informative. Wish I was there with y'all. Thanks for the great content!

Hi Jay, another great video thanks mate. My suggestion are, 1/ put some longish legs of alkathene pipe under your wheel trap to lift it up off the bottom, seal a milk bottle lid with glue, on an empty milk bottle, so it only has air in it, and no way for water to get in. Then tie the bottle half a meter up the rope so the trap hangs in the water, of cause the crabs weight will pull it back down to the sea floor, but some alkathene legs will help keep it up in the water so it stands on the sea floor instead of sitting. 2/ go back to using the two bike wheel trap you used to use, this trap you are using now is best used from a jetty or boat so it hangs in the water.

I have never liked seafood, but you could slam one of these in front of me and I would eat it with no questions asked

Hi Jay and Sam, love your crab videos guys way more interesting than the eels. Try tying an empty sealed milk bottle on your rope, it will hold the net up in the water so it floats instead of sitting on the bottom, but you don't want it floating too high in the water so think about where to place the empty sealed milk bottle on the rope.

When I was a kid I made a homemade crab wheel I used at caistor in norfolk. It was same as yours but we used to put a padlock in the centre which held the net down so they couldnt go underneath. Just a thought. #smashfishing hell yeah
