Little confusion between HARDNESS of the light (given by the apparent size of the source) and the CONTRAST (given by the distance between source and subject) The closer the source, the softer the light. The closer the source, the higher the contrast. But: the smaller the source, the harder it delivers light, this being modulated by the distance as indicated above. This is why in a studio, we use sources of different sizes. As a reminder: hard light = very clear transition from shadow to light. Soft light = very gradual transition from shadow to light, with an intermediate zone called "penumbra". Hardness therefore concerns ONLY transitions. Contrast = difference between highlights and shadows. This is how you can have a light that is both very soft AND very contrasting.

Nicely done, made it an easy decision for me. I like the soft box look the best.

Thank you for reassurance. I just saw godox F600BI and the light is so soft with flexible panel. Start to worry about 2 of my godox with big softbox but looking at the price. I’m staying with my light haha

For me, a bounce board doesnt reflect enough light when it’s out of frame… unless it’s a closeup of just a face

It's more simple, large single light, or three point lighting with smaller panels.

Great video Joris! Thanks so much. I'm looking at these for my studio. Only thing is they might be running for 5-6 hours at a time. Would that matter? Are they capable to run for that duration multiple times a week? Thanks

Absolutely no problem, mine are running for several hours (4-5-6) every day too.

What is the core difference between a $150 LED light panel(like GVM 1200D)and a $5,000 LED light panel(like Arri Skypanel and Gemini)? Why can their prices vary so much? Are they even using the same LED technology?

2:30 why use a grid
@JorisHermans
@JorisHermans Год назад
So I have more control over the light. If I don't use one, it will spill onto the background and I don't want that.
