My grandpa used to take care of the feet of our dairy cows. He was take two pieces of fencing and made a kind of shoot When the cows reached the very front, us kids had to hold buckets of feed so the cow was eating and a little more calm. He had this piece of wood like a tree trunk of something like that, (it's been many years) to hold the hoof up. He was really good at it. I really miss him. after working with the cows, we would have a huge steak dinner. We did brand our cows before using ear tags. after that was over, you knew you worked. Then we would have a steak dinner. There is nothing like growing up on a farm.

When I was a teenager I used to help my best mate with hay making, It was a solid day's work tossing the bales into the trailer, and arranging them. It also used to get us fit for rugby season. The food was great, nothing like a traditional farmer's wife cooking, and he had two really cute sisters that didn't hurt the view at all!

What I picked up from this video is the level of team work between the three guys. While Graham was trimming the hoof, Kev could be seen in the background. My feeling is that Kev wasn't just waiting for something to happen but he was carefully watching what was going on. Watching the methods used on the trim and learning. I get the distinct impression that Graham and Craigy-boy do the same when Kev is working. Not to catch each other out, not to criticise but to learn. See if something works better and implement it. The best teams are those that learn from each other and have each others' backs. Keep up the amazing work guys.

I have psoriasis which makes my nails extremely fragile. Sometimes they'll split right down the middle, all the way to be base/cuticle/matrix. One time it got so thin right at the base that it created a hole right next to my cuticle. My nail bed actually came up through the hole. It looked very similar to this. I've broken bones and that didn't compare to the pain that caused. Every time I moved my thumb or put pressure on it, it felt like a hot iron. So, I can imagine the pain this cow is in. Bless you for helping her. (I have pictures Incase y'all think I'm bsing y'all.)

I really believe the cows you work on know you are there to help them and appreciate your tender care. I know a lot of people say "oh, it's just a cow" or "they are ONLY animals" but I believe the way a person treats animals shows their true character. ❤❤❤❤

Something I compare loose jagged hoof horn near/around an ulcer to is a torn hangnail that needs clipping and cleaning up. This comes from personal experience too. I had a little bit of basically loose cuticle/skin on the side of my nail on my thumb, I tore it off, and wound up with a sore, hours to a day later, I clipped the remains of loose skin off and within minutes it felt better. Took a bit to heal fully, I wore a bandage/plaster for about 3 days, and it healed perfectly. Every time I see you working with a cow the has an ulcer with loose horn, I can imagine the sheer relief she must feel to no longer have that wound being rubbed from the raw edges of her hoof.
