I designed that elevator in 2009. Gillespie designs and builds custom elevators for all the elevator contractors in the US and abroad, including Otis Elevator. This elevator is 10'-4"x19'-10", 20,000 lbs, 16'-0" travel, with a very shallow 12" deep pit. It is a twin jack holeless hydro with four guide rails, and utilizes our shallow pit safety system to provide bottom car clearance and refuge space per code.
Unfortunately, it’s not all that easy to do so. But chances are a 50-50. What I do is I just talk to the staff who works in the facility, and they would usually give you a number or email to call and reach out to the specific person in charge you would have to set up a time. However, in certain cases, it may be easy.
@@JimLiElevators oh, do you think I could just walk into somewhere and ask? What if I give the whole schpeal of “I’m an elevator enthusiast” does that lessen my chances of them saying yes?
If you say just that, then that technically would. Yes. Give them all the following details so that they could understand better: 1. You are deeply fascinated into elevators and film elevator videos for an enjoyment of having this hobby. 2. Your RU-vid channel gets hundreds to thousands of views pertaining your focus on elevators, and a community of others with this same exact hobby. 3. You are wanting to seek whether or not if they can get you on the freight elevator for the following reasons listed in both 1 and 2. Chances are only a 50-50, but they would more than likely understand.
