I remember in 1975 , 76 I used to run home everyday from my 8th grade class in South El Monte just to watch the Huggy Boy Show, would not miss it for anything . The dedecations from all the different neighborhoods dancing ,Vatos with their Rucas on live TV from the L.A. area . It was the show during that time to watch , the Chicano bandstand orale , those were the days
I go back to 1955 listening to Huggy Boy when he was broadcasting out of Dolphins of Hollywood on KRKD radio. Those were the days! I'm 84 now. I still enjoy the old tunes. There is no expiration date on good music.😎
Damn, I used to have one of those big-ass boom boxes and around 11pm was when the show came out clearer in Sac, I’d be glued to that box. And I listened for 3 reasons 1-Huggy Boy. 2-oldies 3-the Dedications were off the hook!! Damn, those were the good ole days…😢
I remember going to the LA County Fair and just hanging around with the crowd at the KRLA tent while Huggy Boy did his show and took live requests from the crowd....those were the days!
@@henrycarillo7412 did you live off of White? That would've been cool to be able to just make the quick trip over! I lived just down the way off Arrow.
@@henrycarillo7412 oh ya, the one right on the corner. Growing up in San Dimas, Ptown was one of our old stomping grounds back in the day. We'd spend weekends at the swap meet or going to the drive in or visiting family who lived in Pomona.
Memory lane. I lived in Soledad, Ca. at the time that Huggy Boy, Wolfman Jack, Bob Eubanks, Humble Harv, Emperor Hudson, Dave (the Hullabalooer) Hull, Casey Kasem and Johnny Hayes and others roamed the airwaves in LA. Those were the days. We could only pick up KRLA at night time, but only if the conditions were right on our old AM radios. During the day it was KYA radio in San Francisco where a few of the DJ's from KRLA later worked.
In 1967 Huggy Boy broadcasted from KRKD radio station on flat top in Happy Valley. I found out later that he wasn't even there, his show was recorded 😔 ......but i still listened and loved him. 🥰
✨I REMEMBER BACK BEFORE ALL THE SOCIAL MEDIA BULLSHIT WE HAD RADIO AN GREAT D.J.s LIKE HUGGY BOY An ART LABOE THESE GENTLEMEN CAPTURED THE HEART AN SOUL OF THE RAZA GOOD TIMES ❤️✨😎🐼❤️
We will never ever hear a voice like Huggy Boy or oldies show RIp Art Laboe 😢❤keep posting theses beautiful oldie memories ain’t nothing like 24/7 oldies
Great and wonderful memories ! Middle 70s I was 11 or 12 and would hear this type of music all through my house in Lincoln Heights being played by my older siblings...miss those days 😊
Awww 🥲reading all these memories struck my heart and put some tears in my eyes 🥹of gratitude ✨ This is my Memory of Huggy… If you were a night owl back in the day like early 80’s, and you loved the oldies, then you most likely remember listening to XPRS Rosalitos Baha California RADIO Station, The Huggy Boy DJ late night Oldies Show. True Story- I must’ve been a super fan 😄 like clockwork making late night dedications to the Ex-Husband up in Soledad. I was such a regular making them dedications, that Courtesy of Huggy Boy, paid my way and stay down to Glendale to make dedications at the station live. I will never forget that escapade. I got to go to the station and make dedications right from the XPRS station. Then the next day, took me to the Johnny Carson Show and Chuck Mangione was there, then to the horse races where Huggy was going to give me a personal intro to Annette Funacello (My mom named me after her), but she was a no show sick at home. Instead, Huggy introduced me to the grouchy guy from the Odd Couple 😁. It surely was an experience and then got sent home with 2 full collection sets of the Album Volumes he was selling back then. I think I only have 1 album left to this day. 1 set for me and 1 set for Ruby who was babysitting for me back at home in San Jose. 🥰 I remember after getting home saying, I couldn’t call and make dedications anymore because my phone bill was like $400+ and Huggy said that couldn’t happen and paid my phone bill 😇 I’m tellin’ you, I was a super fan making them dedications 😁 I remember asking Huggy, why are you doing this and do you do this for all your XPRS fans and he said he only did this one other time and it was kind acts in life he was doing😇. The whole excursion was purely innocent and an amazing memories about my experiences of the XPRS Huggy Boy radio station of Glendale. 💫I was bold and brave to ride out that Shenanigan 😄and I have no regrets.
Those good ol days are gone. But never forgotten 💔. Our generation is the last of good times. But we can let our kid's know that. And get them to listen and tell them what life was like back in the day. Que no? :)
Man, I remember growing up listening to this. Mom would be cleaning house on Saturday listening to this. Here in Tennessee we have oldies on Saturday nights, but not just the same.
We grew up in South Central Los Angeles..we attended Fremont HS..we were a family of 11. Weve lost our parents and 2 brother's. Times were the best the music, pur friends, neighbors and family. There wasntvany street you'd go down where everybody knew each other. I lived down the street where "Thee Midniters" would pratice.. we were blessed ❤

It was back in 1974, I had to find an original 45 record of Elvis singing Blue Moon of Kentucky. I called Jivin' Jim Pewter at KMET ... Jim told me to go to Huggie Boy , up in Pacific Palisades.... I knocked on the door, Well Every square inch of vertical wall space inside was covered in 45 rpm record shelves & Cubbies and HUGGY BOY Gave me the Elvis / Sun Studios 45 record .... I won the Scavanger Hunt contest . Grand Prize 1974 New AMC Gremlin LEVIS Limited Edition car , and 12 cases of 12 ounce CocaCola.
