Hugh Cornwell "Totem & Taboo" video 

Watching this video for the first time (in 2023), I’m reminded of just how much I love the music of Hugh Cornwell, and the Stranglers. A fan since I first heard them in 1978! Perfection in every way!

I’m a relatively new Hugh Cornwell/Stranglers fan. I love his voice. It’s like warm caramel syrup.

Saw Hugh in Christchurch in 2018 Best concert in years' came off stage afterwards to sign autographs the Blokes a legend !!

Great effort, loads of energy and character.. I'm very excited to see Hugh making new stuff.. Hugh's voice is unique, it's what made up a lot of the Stranglers' sound for me. I miss the sound of Hugh's vocals paired with Dave's energetic yet exquisite keyboarding. I hope that Hugh's future work will include some similar sounding keyboards and a return to some creative and perhaps slightly more abstract lyrics.

I don't know if mr. Hugh watches this comments but im a huge stranglers´ fan. Im 14, im from spain, and what i REALLY want to see before the band die is to see JJ, Dave, Hugh with Baz on the guitar & vocals and Jet in a few songs united in a great final gig, because Jet will be not able to play drums anymore in a very short lapse of time (he´s actually using oxygen even on slow songs like golden brown) and when he leaves, the band will die (JJ said it days ago). If Hugh have problems with the band, i think its time to apologyse and make a very final concert, all the fans over the time will like it! i hope this message will be watched by Hugh, answer me please!

I love this video, I like the song and Hugh but also being a child of the 70s the Pans People like literal choreography which gives it a quality of another time.

Hugh's songs are greater with a video, something the stranglers last did in 1990 just before he quit, strange but true and they were never this good, that flash of colour is genius. I was just over 14 when i first saw the stranglers in 1978, if you told me i'd see them over the next 35 years honed to perfection twice with and without Hugh i'd never have believed you, totem or ipod. There goes 4 girls in a bowler hat and basque, nice.

Hugh, I've been a fan in the deepest sense of your voice, your guitar playing and your songwriting from Day One (or Two, at least from 77 Rattus), and still follow you from time to time ...too much time to think too little to do ;o). Seen you and greeted you at Spirit of 66 last summer. This video could appear as slightly embarrassing but perhaps that is the point. Please go on for ever and ever.... CHEERZ, ZAK.
